House call in the sand

Continued from: A Day Like Any Other... or is it?

"Wesa arriven at oursa destination, admiral" the Gungan pilot announced.

"Yousa will stayen hair for da next house call"

The medical shuttle carrying a hoverchair-bound Cathul, who could barely walk across the length of the with her cybernetic legs. It seems that this Gungan pilot as able to get close to the patient for which the request for that particular house call was made as was safely possible, and that Cathul spoke Gunganese when with other Gungans. One Desmond identified the patient as being called [member="#24061"] while surrounded by a few other people, who were on screen when the request for that house call occurred: Stardust, as well as another Darth Vader wannabe, Kyrel Ren. She would find the patient a little sickly but the town medic didn't do much other than stabilize her condition even though much of the work remained to be done. But across the Jundland Wastes, Jawas would usually take prisoners among people who wander across the sand. So, in a sense, the patient, whose presence she could sense in the Force, was lucky. As she walked what distance she could across the sand, that is to say, not much of a distance...

The girl was barely aware of anything going on around her.

Suddenly, something was on her face, cool air entering her lungs. She gasped for breath as she seemed to be floating. A strange surface appeared beneath her. Fear over came her.

"No.....no..please!" She begged, voice muffled by the mask.

"Don't be afraid! Someone called for medical help, and that's me answering it. I am a Jedi, I couldn't refuse such a call for help"

Speaking of Desmond, where is he now? Not that she cared much, just that she had to kneel on the ground because she couldn't walk anymore. The sand was too soft a walking surface for her to walk on it with anything resembling comfort. Plus Cathul was scanning the patient in the Force for any sign of illness that the town medic, with rather basic equipment, couldn't entirely make it go away. Anyhow, he was right about [member="#24061"] requiring medical assistance. She could tell rather readily that it would be going to take hours for her to use the Force to fully heal.

"What have we here? Whip marks, residual ixetal cilona in the lungs, injuries that he tried his best to treat but are not quite fully healed. Just lie still, will you? I will use the Force on you to heal your injuries"

[member="#24061"]

She froze, trembling, starting to hyperventilate. Something sweet smelling entered the air in the mask. She felt herself go limp as slight sleepiness overcame her fear.

She saw a dim shape of a woman near her.

"You will soon be free. But your ability to enjoy your freedom will be limited by your physical condition" she said, while making eye contact with @#24061. "You will be asleep while I remove the ixetal cilona in your lungs and heal that electrowhip injury"

The injuries were rather severe, especially since the electrowhip injury was a rather deep wound, nearly reaching the patient's nerves. And so she began with her using the Force for anaesthesia, knowing that anaesthesia is vital so as to prevent the pain of the patient. She would begin taking care of the electrowhip injury with the deepest part of the injury being repaired first and then proceed outward, that is, provided that the anaesthesia kicked in to begin with. Anaesthesia was mostly so that the patient doesn't feel pain, because she is there to heal - procedures can be painful so ensuring that the patient won't pass out will help in the healing process. But she was kneeling because she feels more comfortable healing patients like these. And not just because she can't stay upright for long due to her not being used to walking with these cybernetic legs. Once she is healed, then I can probably get to explain a bit more about the functions that Jedi can occupy. Even though my functions have stabilized around medicine and fleeting, this is a rather unorthodox combination of functions but, hey, if one could help innocents on any scale with such a combination, that's probably for the better, she thought.

Everything became a muffled blurr as darkness overtook her.

Beeping pierced the darkness..... Cool air entered and exited her lungs. The girl's dim eyes fluttered half way open.

It was easier to breathe, the weight in her lungs was gone.... Her back wasn't so sore.....

Wait..... There was no sand beneath her...... Where was she?

Any sand on the patient was removed after the anaesthesia kicked in and the patient was brought inside the space ambulance for Force-treatment, dragged along using telekinesis. Now that the patient is awake, Cathul could actually talk to said patient. She could tell in the Force that the procedures were successful. But the patient is still dazed and confused once the Force-treatment has been administered. Said procedures were barely completed that the patient awoke right in front of her. And still on a hoverchair that she was back on it when the treatment began on the surgical bed this space ambulance had. But, as far as the psychological aspect of it is concerned, it was obvious that something was amiss. She could tell that the patient has suffered psychologically on some level; that was something that would take much longer than healing back injuries or removing ixetal cilona from the lungs.

"You're in a space ambulance. Sand would have interfered with the Force-treatment. We haven't departed yet. If you have other business to conduct on Tatooine, please tell me so now. You're no longer a slave by the way: the slavers have been defeated and killed. Oh and I can tell that you have the potential to use the Force"

[member="#24061"]

"The Force is a mystical field that is infinite, even though a person's ability to use it is not. The Force can touch everyone but not everyone can use it in return. You seem a little raw, you may not be able to use it now, but with proper training you will be able to use it"

It was a pretty complicated matter, really. Talking about so many traditions of the Force, light and dark, what exactly the light and the dark side were, and how different they were in meanings for these things depending on whether you could use the Force or not. She preferred to think of the spirit ichor as coming in many, many varieties, possibly infinitely many, and that the ichor associated to Force-observables were called Hermitian, all of which were part of some Hilbert space, where the main characteristic of a Force-problem was defined by its Hamiltonian (if non-relativistic) or Lagrangian (if relativistic), making the mystique a mostly mathematical construct. But, of course, such a vision made intense intellectual demands on its practitioners, and the Force is then said to be quantized. But clearly that line of thinking had very, very few followers, but that could possibly be because only the most theoretical-minded FUs could possibly accept it.

"There are are two major Jedi Orders in the galaxy: one based on Sullust, the New Jedi Order, as well as many minor Jedi Orders in several regions of space. As for the dark side, there are the Sith Order, the Order of Ren, as well as other minor dark-sided fixtures"

[member="#24061"]

"I thought... the Jedi were a myth..... one of my masters was a Sith......" Her mind drifted back to when the Sith experimented on her; she started to hyperventilate.

"I'm sorry, Master, Please! I won't fail you again!" She squirmed, trying to get out of the bed. The girl cried out In pain as she moved her still healing wounds.

"You will realize soon enough that many perceive Jedi and Sith to be little more than glorified, or Force-using, bounty hunters because they chase each other down, and that many in the galaxy know about both groups, despite not having met with representatives of both groups, or sometimes not having met with someone from either group, in person"

Cathul could even talk about the Dark Jedi and how DJ are different from Sith. To her Dark Jedi were mostly people who used the dark side of the Force but were not quite Sith. Some of the Dark Jedi are doing the same kinds of pure-evil compared to Sith, just that following Sith philosophy can be just as complicated as following Jedi philosophy, and she was taught about both long before she had formal Force-training, even though she was apprenticed to some dark-sider that wasn't purely evil. Then again, that introduction to psychology course was mostly geared towards NFUs, and it was part of the early content of the module on behavioral psychology. But often Dagobah Tech undergraduates learn those things in a philosophy course: everyone taking an introductory course in either discipline has to learn about the Jedi and Sith codes at that institution. Now she feels compelled to talk about the differences between both major Jedi Orders.

"That said, the New Jedi Order, to which I'm affiliated, only allows certain shades of grey, the lightest ones in fact, whereas the Silver Jedi have greater freedoms with the Force. They can even welcome people who rely more on the dark side of the Force so long as they do not become Sith outright"

[member="#24061"]

The girl heaved, slowly calming down. She listened to Cathul as she told her about the different force users.

"I dont wanna be with the Sith again!" She sobbed, sounding like a young child. She felt like a child.... "Why would a Jedi want me? Why did you even help me? I am a slave, I cannot pay you back. Unless you wish for me to work for you." She bowed, tears still falling down her cheeks.

"As a Jedi I have to take medical house calls for free. To help innocents and weak in need. So you're not owing me anything. As you can see, the Jedi would be willing to train you. There are many different ways to help innocents and weak in need: fighting crime at the tip of a lightsaber, healing others like I do, helping other people with knowledge from behind the scenes, engaging in negotiations, etc. You're no longer a slave. But, before you make your decision, I think it may be appropriate to contact the other order. The decision to become a Jedi or not is yours and yours alone. Wait a little bit while I contact those guys"

She returned to the cockpit, where she contacted [member="Ryn'Dhal"] of the Silver Jedi Order. Her legs hurt after walking from one end of the ship, where the medical suites were, to the other end, where the cockpit is, and she needed intense concentration effort not to tumble down on the floor. Sure, she is not in position to relearn Force-speed/agility just yet, but at least she is making progress towards her going back to her normal activities. Once she arrived at the cockpit, after a few instants of intense concentration and slow walks, she had to rest in the copilot's seat, while contacting the Silver Jedi.

"'Mesa have a call to make" she told the Gungan pilot.

"Yousa have a call to make? To whom?" the Gungan pilot asked.

"The Silver Jedi Order. Theysa have another person in search of information about theirsa activities looking for them-sa"

"Roger, roger"

"Come, [member="#24061"], I have the Silver Jedi on the line"

Shivering, the girl stepped up just behind the doctor. She wanted to be with the Jedi, she wanted a place to call home...

She wanted someone to care and love her...

But would they? She exhaled a shuddering breath, ready to state she wanted to join the Jedi.

Transiting across the cosmos, occupied in his continued search for his dear sister, Lady Kay, Ryn'Dhal had only his droids, and his thoughts, to occupy him.

Emvee trundled up to the young Master, lost in his reverie. Whirling and whistling excitedly, the astromech roused the felinoid from his musings. "Oh? A missive? Fair enough. Take note and plot a course." he ordered, rising from his seat to stalk the quiet corridors of the Mask.

Reaching the cockpit, a line was opened to [member="Cathul Thuku"]. "This is Master Ryn'Dhal of the Silver Jedi Order. How may I assist?" he spared little for introductions, his mind somewhat distant, though that would likely change shortly due to the news he was soon to receive....

"We have rescued an orphaned, Force-sensitive child from slavers on Tatooine and that would like more information about each of the main Jedi Orders of the galaxy before making a decision to join either order. I gave [member="#24061"] information about the New Jedi Order on Sullust, affiliated with the Galactic Alliance, but I know very little about the Silver Jedi other than they are headquartered on Voss and that they seem to provide more freedoms of the Force"

[member="Ryn'Dhal"] had no idea what exactly would make the NJO a better fit vs. the SJO. Otherwise there are always Mandalorian Jedi, but she doesn't seem to be a good fit to wear a suit of beskar and fight dark-siders around the galaxy with that and a lightsaber. Mando Jedi are often perceived as being little more than brutes who barge in combat with little tactical sense, but who somehow use the light side of the Force, if only in a limited capacity. And often their vision of justice is a little... skewed. She was a victim of one big Mando miscarriage of justice, but it's only because Clan Mereel was the main enemy of Clan Lok, to which she belonged, as a result of the crime. The first trial, held on Roche, was ruled a mistrial, due to irregularities, the biggest of which was misconduct by the prosecution, but also concerns about the ability of the system to prosecute the punishment. The second trial still ruled Cathul guilty all right, but the punishment was still a little harsh for what amounts to an abuse of an improper channel. So she would briefly talk about them at best.

"Oh and before I forget: Mandalorian Jedi are mostly about these three things: a suit of beskar armor, a lightsaber and the light side of the Force, and they fight around the galaxy based on that. They have a more decentralized structure compared to the main two orders, so that's why they are rather minor players in the Jedi world. Now, [member="#24061"], we have the Silver Jedi on the line"

"If you ----will have me, I----'-: wish to join the S---silver J-----jedi." The girl stammered, nervous.

She gulped and waiting for an answer.

She wanted a home, but would she get one?

A warm expression washed over the felinoid's face, as an almost musical laugh was given. The sound almost startled the young Master, as he'd not heard such noise, let alone from himself, in quite some time. "My dear child, it is not a case of whether or not the Silver Jedi would welcome you, but if you would welcome us." he replied to her nervous request.

His attention shifted to Cathul, nodding. "I will meet you at the coordinates of your choosing, if the young one wishes to travel with me to Voss." he'd state, before looking again to the image of the younger woman. "The Silver Jedi can be your home, if it is what you wish it to be. If the would give a wretch like I was once the opportunity, they'd do no less for you." It had to be her eyes, more than anything, that betrayed the pain and torment she'd witnessed in her young life. Ryn'Dhal recognized those eyes. He used to see them often.

Every time he ever looked into a mirror.

Sometime later, Ryn'Dhal would pull out of hyperspace near the coordinates provided by Cathul, and began seeking sign of her vessel. A signal would then be sent, requesting to board, as he located and began his approach.

"Permission granted, [member="Ryn'Dhal"]"

With the Jedi's ship landing somewhere near the ambulance in the Jundland Wastes, [member="#24061"]'s hopes are getting up, especially since the Silver Jedi seems more like an actual home than the NJO is. Sure, the Sullust, Dulvoyinn and Coruscant enclaves are like secondary homes to many among the Jedi, but at least Cathul was happy for her: now that was giving a new life to a former slave. In her experience, she knew that many would be grateful to become Jedi - or Sith - after such a pain, or even bounty hunters. She feels obligated to recite the Jedi Code to someone who wanted to call a Jedi Order a home: after all, if a person thinks that the Jedi is a fitting home and is a Force-sensitive, perhaps that person had a natural inclination for the light side. Also if someone decided that a Jedi order was a place to go to once freed from slavery, and followed through with it, they will, at some point, hear about the Code being recited somewhere.

"I wonder whether you heard it: There is no emotion, there is peace, there is no ignorance, there is knowledge, there is no passion, there is serenity, there is no chaos, there is harmony, there is no death, there is the Force"
