Tregessar security forces are highly trained and well equipped. The standard armor is the MSAS (Modular Security Armor System) and the standard weapon is the versatile SA-4 Blaster Assault Rifle. Additional weapons include the UTAS-21 'Cleaver' Assault Carbine, and the ST-19 Repeating Blaster Pistol. Most soldiers carry several grenades (varies by expected operations, non-lethal like stun and flashbang for riot units, frag and cryoban for regular units, and heavy duty proton and concussion for assault/boarding crews) and a vibroknife or two, and additional sidearms (usually heavy blaster pistols) are not uncommon on more veteran units.
Training for security forces emphasizes static defense, urban/close quarters combat, and small unit tactics. They are experts at holding a fortified position, and even professional military forces will find them a tough nut to crack in environments similar to the urban maze of Axxila or the tight passageway of military-esque compounds.
A standard tactics involves utilizing the SA-4's unique capabilities as both a marksman rifle and squad automatic weapon allow individual squads to lay down both accurate and high volume suppressive fire, while utilizing the high damage resistance of the heavy shield and impressive close quarters firepower of the UTAS-21 to advance.
These soldiers are no slouches when fighting on territory they know, and should be treated with a healthy dose of respect as such. Axxilan houses and off world organizations have underestimated the troops of House Tregessar as being an over inflated private bodyguard force before, typically until those same troops kicked down their door and slaughtered their glorified henchmen and hired guns.
Units tend to be equipped according to the expected battlefield, with the vast majority of companies having only the basic MSAS kit and one or two UTAS-21's per squad. Typically company has two or three squads with extra training in 'Assault' or 'Riot' operations and equipped with the heavy armor addon and a higher proportion of UTAS-21's. Occasionally one may field a 'Heavy' company, where all the troops are equipped with the heavier armor.
The main weakness as far as training and equipment go would be in large mobile battlefields. Tregessar Security forces are simply not as well suited for offense as they are for defense (with a handful of exceptions), and they try to avoid those situations, preferring to leave it for the feared Assault Guards.
As far as demographics go, the vast majority of House Tregessar personnel are human, but the armor and equipment can easily accommodate most human-like aliens, and the house has no particular prejudice (simply a matter of humans being by far the majority on Axxila). Recruitment tends to come from the poor and disadvantages masses of Axxila, as the promise of a steady paycheck and potential for advancement in a Great Houes is extremely appealing. Training is harsh with little tolerance for insubordination. The very best in both training and operations are typically pulled from the security forces and assigned to either the Assault Guards or Helldivers (provided sufficient combat experience, the Helldivers only take veterans).
In contrast to the rank and file, officers in the security forces tend to be drawn from House Tregessar's numerous cadet branches. House Tregessar does not rest on nepotism, officer training is brutal and overwhelmingly fair. Only the best end u in command, with most washing out and ending up being a desk jockey or lowly official. Officer postings tend to rank in seniority based on the expectation of how much action the particular company will get. One simply does not advance in the house without seeing combat.
All told the Tregessar Security Forces are an effective, efficient, competent force easily the equal of most faction militaries, at least in skill if not in numbers and equipment. This doesn't mean that the house is afraid to use them as meat shields, after all, there's always more bodies on Axxila. In total, the House numbers around 3 million men and women in the security force, most of which are quartered and stationed on Axxila itself.
These men and women are the face of Houes Tregessar, the symbol of the dragon and tangible fist of its creed. The Strong Survive.
