How many established NFU's do we have?

I was just thinking about this.

How many successful and developed NFU's do we actually have? I mean like main characters that managed to stick it through and establish themselves on the Chaos board as successful NFU's ( not a single bit Force sensitive at all ) regardless of their specialty?

I can only think of a few at the top of my head that stand out when i was thinking about this question.
[member="Judah Dashiell"] comes to mind.

.... i think that's it at the top of my head.

Why don't we have more long term established NFUs? I had so much fun with Danger without digging into the Force.

I think i would challenge all writers to write an NFU as a main for a while, get them developed. I dunno, was just really fulfilling to me.

I'm trying to establish myself as a successful NFU Bounty Hunter, hoping to specialize in Force User capture. I just captured my first Jedi, very surprisingly. Just a matter of upgrading my arsenal over-time to facilitate the capture of FU's such as those anti-force grenades some people have.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but trying to get a good NFU going is a lot harder than it should be. While the format of Chaos has a number of distinct advantages over fixed location threads, one of its major drawbacks is that reputation really matters. A budding Force user might be able to get in with a major faction as someone's apprentice and make themselves useful, but outside of a few niches such as trooper or smuggler, it's damned difficult to make a name for yourself as a non Force user. If you can't catch the eye of one of the more established folks, you're going to spend most of your time threading with other newcomers.

That's not necessarily a bad thing, as there are plenty of talented writers on the board in the same boat, but sticking to the fringes just isn't as fun for some folks. Trying to get noticed and get RP that actually feels like it's having an impact is like trying to pull teeth from an alligator with a temper problem and an addiction to PCP. Sure it's technically possible, but barring some extremely good fortune, it's probably going to be a lot more trouble than it's worth.

I just started this character, who happens to be a droid, and [member="Verun Hans"] is pretty much a niche character meant to fulfill that primal bloodlust I mean, uhm, fist fighting? urge.

I consider [member="Weiss"] & [member="Sempra the Hutt"] to have stuck through and developed nicely.

It has not been harder to develop NFUs then FUs imo. Sure they run into problem when facing force users but heck, its star wars.

The amount of NFU's who fall through the cracks and never get anywhere on the site, comparative to the amount of FU's, is quite significant. Just about every pivotal figure in every war on Chaos, from my memory, has been a FU. There has only been one individual who I thought was a NFU who was incredibly successful, but turns out, he was also a FU - in all fairness, he never used the Force.

Sure, war isn't the only aspect, but invasions and skirmishes definitely plays one of the largest parts of this site. Otherwise, NFU's are busying starting cantina brawls and FU's training.

I didn't mean in just fighting, but also politically. When it comes to war, I always see FU's calling the shots. It's easier to be a successful FU than a NFU. There just isn't a big enough base of NFU's to be successful. There's so few NFU's that if someone decides they run a planet.. they run it. You decide to be a Jedi Master? Get in line. You can be an admiral if you decide because not many people are admirals, so you just soak up that position, but you're not really all that successful.. you didn't earn it, you just.. got it.

That is what I mean. Say, someone is a Junior Officer, then worked their way up, and became an infamous Admiral or Politician, now that is cool, that is successful.

Take the Red Ravens for example. Bunch of nobody thugs started it, hung out in a tiny cantina. Go forward a few months they're a Major Faction who has wiped out the Black Sun Syndicate. That was cool, that was really big for NFUs. They got there by earning it. But this is incredibly rare for NFU's, FU's do this all the time

That is true, and to the red ravens might I add the new hutt cartel. We worked our way to be a major faction in two months.

That said, I agree, NFU titles are easilly handed out. Handing out political and military ranks could be a process equal to rising in FU ranks. But as it is every faction decides on its own. It does take away some of the status of high ranking nfu titles. IMO.
