How to start roleplaying?

This may sound kinda stupid but as the title says.

I created a character, actually i went and created codex entries for his species and home planet just to give him a better back story. I have plenty of cool ideas for story lines but im stumped on where to start. In my mind to make these stories interesting they need other people, and im struggling to get into that. I know there is a LFG thread where i can search for others but im unsure on how to post something that would interest others and im not really confident enough in my RP to join one of those big threads and not be afraid of getting in the way. So... What do?

best way to start rping is have an open thread which can be fun or go for the LFG to find some people and make some storyline. Vague ones where all can contribute is always fun

Just jump in, and don't get disheartened if a thread doesn't get traction. There's no real way to predict if a thread will succeed or not, so don't sweat it.
