Since you are so new, the best way to get your feet wet is to go and play in the games threads. They are basically word games and silly stuff. But it's a great way to interact with other gamers without worrying as to what you really post. Just keep it PG-13 and you're good to go. It's a great way to meet some people here outside of the role plays. Once you start posting there, you'll find it easy to post and navigate to other forums too. Like i said, just get your feet wet at the games...

I would suggest looking up at the resources tab and quickly looking through the time line of the site and then just searching through a few threads on the 'open role play' section and get a feel for how people write.
You can make a character easily, there is not real requirement or approval process needed, although it helps to not go to wild and have a small understanding of the lore.

Yes, by all means create a character you wish to use in role plays, [member="Zackster"]
I was just pointing you to the game threads so that you can get posting. Like i said, they are silly games, but do help pass the time between writing or waiting for responses in stories. And a lot of writers like myself are always IC..even in the OOC threads. well, when appropriate.
Anywho, think about what type of character..sith, jedi, smuggler, assassin , droid or alien and then see about joining a faction. There are plenty of open role plays you can then jump into that are faction oriented. Or if you are up to it, you can ask to do a private role play and develop your character there. It's all up to you as to how you want your character to be. There are no ranks or trials here that you must earn or complete. If you wish to be a knight from the start, then so be it. Just remember to have as much weakness as you have strength. Not a 50:50 thing, but be aware of not godmoding. There are stories to create and tell.
