  • Hyperdrive Components: Very good quality hyperdive components.

  • They have all the standard hyperdrive parts, protocols, programs, etc., and they are always of the best quality.
  • They work on exactly the same principle and practice as standard hyperdrives, only much, much faster due to its implementation and programming.

  • Very Fast: The Hermóðr-class hyperdrive is damn fast.
  • Any Ship: This hyperdrive can be installed in any spacecraft and spaceship.

  • Power Hunger: Speed requires a lot of energy, which is why the Hermóðr-class hyperdrive consumes a lot of energy. It is advisable to keep a separate generator for it, otherwise the hyperdive will absorb energy from the ships' other systems. HPI recommends HAPU for this.
  • Micro Jump: Due to its very fast speed and power hunger, it is not really worth performing micro jumps with this. In the very short term, it would not even be able to reach its own standard and optimal speed, and restraint and deceleration could damage its systems. They can be done, but damage must be reckoned with.

The HPI Consortium considers it extremely important that its own technology always develops very well and that the galaxy's technological level also increases. Among others, this category also includes hyperdrives. Although HPI had already produced very fast engines for the Eternal Empire and the Ashlan Crusade, they were for mostly military purposes. However, this time they wanted to make a wide range of technology.

There are huge distances in the Galaxy, which to this day can make life miserable for those who want to travel, or for those who have to travel long distances. Fast travel would have been good in trade between distant locations. If not weeks, but only a few days are spent by commercial ships and fleets in hyperspace. Not to mention if one wants to do personal meetings somewhere.

That’s why HPI engineers had been working for a long time to make that happen. They have studied the technologies that are already available and fast, Path Engine technology, and last but not least, any technology that is a different kind of FTL technology. From this knowledge they built their own Hermóðr-class engine.

In the first few cases, there were still accidents, explosions, slow speeds, and unreliability. But these were just prototypes. The errors were fixed in a few months. This became the hyperdrive which is able to 0.1 speed, which the Eternal Empire and Ashlan Crusade received, mainly for their war fleets. However, they consume a huge amount of energy, which is not necessarily good for civilian ships. This is precisely why the 0.3 engine was made, which consumes less energy than the 0.1. 0.3 is still an incredibly fast hyperdrive and it could be a great choice, because it is more energy efficient than the other one, but true less energy efficient than the 0.5, but much faster.
