"Hisham"
NAME: HS-07 "Hisham"
FACTION: Unknown
RANK: Unknown
SPECIES: HK-series protocol droid (modified)
AGE: Eight years since memory wipe and reactivation
SEX: Masculine programming
HEIGHT: 1.8m
WEIGHT: 180kg
EYES: Icy blue photoreceptors
HAIR: n/a
SKIN: The stock HK-series chassis has been replaced with a matte black and white in a pattern that resembles a tuxedo.
FORCE SENSITIVE: No
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
+ Skilled diplomat: Similarly to how brain damage in organics can occasionally result in them developing outstanding cognitive abilities, HS-07 has compensated for the loss of his combat ability and assassination protocol with incredible charisma, wit and natural leadership. He is skilled at mediation and negotiation, and makes a good diplomat or politician.
+ Independent action: This unit retains its ability to work independently as an HK-series assassination droid. It can travel solo to accomplish diplomatic missions, and go without instruction indefinitely. However, once given an order it must diligently carry it out unless the task has been rendered impossible. Although it typically answers to an owner, HS-07 can work under a faction or as its own entity.
+ / - Language ability: HS-07 can communicate in several thousand languages. However, given his age and long period of dormancy, his dialect is out-dated in all but the most common alien languages.
- Poor combat ability: Both in terms of physical construction and programming, HS-07 is abysmal in battle. His lightweight frame is poorly suited to withstanding damage, and the combat programming and assassination protocol typically found in HK-series droids are absent.
- Uncanny valley: The more an artificial being resembles an organic, the more unsettling it can become to interact with. HS-07 retains his droid frame, but is capable of human-like gestures, tones of voice and phrases that can be considered uncanny. Despite this unit's likability and charisma, some organics might occasionally find him strange or repulsive.
APPEARANCE:
HS-07 carries the typical appearance of a HK-series assassination droid, similar to a HK-24 model with a few modifications. His photoreceptors have been replaced with a piercing icy blue pair. His carbo-plas chassis is patterned in black and white resembling a tuxedo, and has a matte texture that is pleasant to the touch.
BIOGRAPHY:
This droid was discovered aboard an ancient light freighter. The freighter itself was discovered in by chance, floating in a high orbit around Taris' star, and taken aboard a large salvage vessel. The freighter was in advanced state of disrepair, degraded over millennia by the presence of water and oxygen provided by the ship's life support, which had apparently continued to function for some time after the vessel's initial destruction. A single HK unit was the only salvageable technology recovered from the freighter.
Similarly to the vessel, this HK unit was ancient and derelict, and was initially to be scrapped for parts. An engineer serving aboard the salvage vessel claimed it out of curiosity, and attempted to restore it as a personal project. Unaware of its original function as an assassination droid, the engineer replaced the unit's dilapidated durasteel armor with a lighter carbo-plas construction, giving it a matte black and white finish. Finally, the engineer replaced the droid's damaged photoreceptors with an icy blue pair he pulled from a scrap bin.
After some time, the engineer was able to activate the refurbished droid. He named the unit HS-07, giving his best approximation of its original designation having only been able to decipher it partially. HS-07 would become affectionately known to the crew of the salvage ship as Hisham. Whether through damage, degradation or previous tampering, HS-07's assassination protocol and combat ability were lost. In their place, the droid had become remarkably personable and charismatic. He displayed great skill at mediation and negotiation, as well as an intelligent wit that few organics could match.
With no space for dead weight aboard a working vessel, HS-07 was put to work. He would often be sent out as an envoy for the salvage vessel, landing on planet after planet on the Outer Rim in order to negotiate prices and mediate disputes with junk merchants. HS-07 could communicate in a large number of alien dialects, albeit with a great deal of archaic language, making him invaluable to his new crew. The droid even settled conflict between crew members and became respected as an authority and in having the final word in arguments.
After some years of traveling with the salvage vessel, HS-07 was put up for sale. The company that owned the salvage vessel was being absorbed into a larger corporation, with many assets being sold off and personnel reassigned. HS-07 was marketed as a highly specialized droid, to be used as an aide to politicians and diplomats, noted for its ability to work independently.
