HumSec Consortium is a semi-parastatal corporation operating within the Humbarine Sector. Organized in the aftermath of Senator Nova's ouster as representative of Humbarine and a complete restructuring of the Humbarine government, the HumSec Consortium was an attempt to reorganize the resources of the Sector to benefit its denizens first and foremost. Any locally-owned and operated industrial capacity within the Sector was either bought, or forcibly extracted as per Executive Order 48. This left HumSec Consortium with a wide range of influence (or outright control) over many branches of the region's industry.
Their interests ran from control over the primary shipyards, mining docks to organization of critical infrastructure projects within the Sector itself. The HumSec Consortium acts as a direct representative of the new Humbarine government's interest within the region. Because of this they are not subject to the usual regulations.
Or red tape constricting other ventures.
RATIONALE
In the wake of several public scandals including the ouster of its Senator a new nationalist movement took root on Humbarine. Tired of the innate corruption of the political class, the exploitation by its local corporations, the inherent abuse of the elite class, it became clear that much needed reforms were necessary.
A group of officials in the upper-echelons of the Humbarine military decided to take action.
By the end of the week the regular order was pulled down. One of the first acts of the new military junta was to sign Executive Order 48, an attempt to return sovereign resources and industrial capacity into its own hands. The creation of HumSec Consortium began. By and large they ignored the larger inter-galactic corporations operating within the region, other than establishing new taxes and regulations on their continued presence.
Locally owned corporations and industry was a different matter.
Appealing to innate patriotism, greed and show of force they were folded into HumSec Consortium.
