- Trapped Grip - Allows only the designated wielder and anyone she permits to activate and wield the lightsaber. The hilt will discharge a potent electrical energy field in the event that the weapon is handled by an unauthorized agent, with the potential to cause severe burn injuries to the victim.
- Miniaturized Repulsorlift Engine - The Hydrangea Moonblade has a miniaturized repulsorlift engine that is capable of supporting independent flight at speeds up to 350 m/s, providing enhanced range and striking power for ranged attacks. In turn, this engine may also be used to lift the wielder off the ground to support them in flight at speeds up to 120 km/h, with the assistance of the blades spinning in a propeller-like motion.
- Gyroscopic Stabilizer - The weapon has an integrated gyroscopic stabilizer, which improves its stability in flight, ensuring that the blade stays aligned with the target during ranged attacks.
- Ossus Dueling Lens - Produces a very narrow, focused blade optimized for exploiting weak points and gaps in armor.

- Force Control System - All of the weapon’s functions and systems can be controlled and/or adjusted by the user via the Force, so long as she is attuned to its crystals.
- Litr Gryttr Crystals - Assists an attuned user in protecting themselves from direct effects of the Force and clearing their mind, helping with concentration, meditation, and focus.
- Ghostfire Crystals - Installed as secondary crystals, the ghostfire crystals in the Hydrangea Moonblade makes the weapon almost completely silent during operation.
- Resilience - The use of redundant non-dimetris circuitry in the activation loops makes the Hydrangea Moonblade highly resistant to the deleterious effects of cortosis. The weapon is also capable of operating underwater. In addition, a Fyrirdögun casing gives the hilt n a strong resistance to disabling or disarming strikes.
- Slip Through - Hydrangea Moonblade ignites a very narrow, focused blade, which is ideal for exploiting gaps in armor.
- Low Profile - The Taozin integrated into the construction of the Hydrangea Moonblade has the capability to blur or cloud the senses of a Force wielder to varying degrees, potentially hindering the effectiveness of battle precognition, danger sense, and similar abilities as pertaining to weapon and its wielder. In addition, the ghostfire crystal serves to make the weapon almost completely silent during operation.
- Otherworldly Resistance - The Litr Gryttr crystals greatly assist the wielder in resisting direct effects of the Force.
- No Fly Zone - Repulsorlift jammers are one of the most effective counters to the Hydrangea Moonblade's flight capabilities. They can negate the fields generated by the repulsorlift engine and subsequently slow down or even outright disable the weapon’s flight capabilities to varying degrees of effectiveness depending on a number of factors pertaining to the repulsorlift jammer in question, including power quotient, distance, intensity, and yet more.
- Overload - Depending on the vicinity and power quotient, EMP and Ionite discharges could overload the Hydrangea Moonblade's electronic components, disabling its repulsorlifts and potentially other important functions as well. A particularly powerful discharge may even shut off the blade(s) entirely, taking some time for the de-ionizing system to clear before normal function can return.
- Material Limitations - The Hydrangea Moonblade has no particular specialized enhancements or amplified power settings that would push its cutting capabilites beyond the performance of a normal lightsaber. As such, lightsaber-resistant materials will naturally present challenges of varying degrees to the weapon, depending on the material in question, its thickness, and a host of other factors.
- Unconventional Weaponry - The Hydrangea Moonblade is unable to reflect sonic blasts, particle beams, paddle beams, or slugs.
Commissioned by Lucia Naberrie, the Hydrangea Moonblade is a double-bladed spinning lightsaber of the style first used by the dark side adepts of the ancient Inquisitorius. In this, it is capable of the expected functions, including flight (with the wielder hanging onto the hilt), blade spinning, and guard folding (a single-bladed crescent mode and double-bladed disc and crescent mode). However, the weapon also benefits from enhanced utility, with a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse allowing it to be used underwater, a blade power adjustment system, and a trapped grip (preventing the weapon from being handled by thieves).
Lucia commissioned the weapon in the hopes of encouraging her friend, Lily Decoria, to embrace a more ruthless approach to combat (especially after hearing of her imprisonment at the hands of the Mandalorians). However, the weapon was also intended as a gift, to express her gratitude for Lily’s assistance in retrieving a valuable imbuement from the savage Techno Magorum tribe.
