Hello [member="Jerel"]! Welcome to SWRPC!

I strongly suggest going through the tabs at the top of the page - they cover Rules, SWRPC history, as well as other finer details related to RP elements on the site.

Have fun!

It’s a little bit more than just new to the site, it’s also being new to Roleplays. So I’m not completely sure how everything works according to that

[member="Jerel"] welcome to star wars chaos.

You are new to play by post style of roleplaying. I suggest before you get hooked, walk away. There is no cure for this addiction.

Now if you are going to ignore that advice. Then best give you some tips

  1. Read the Rules
  2. Get Discord so you can chat and communicate with your fellow writers
  3. Jump right in and have fun.
  4. Remember, this is free style writing rp. You are co authoring a story. It is not a video game where winning is everything. This is all about the stories being told that come from co-operating creative minds.
  5. Do not Powergame/ Godmode. Very much a quick way to lose respect amongst the community. You are but one person in the galaxy, you have flaws and you are not invincible.
  6. Have fun
  7. Be respectful
  8. Remember that the Admins, Factory judges and moderators along with faction owners and faction admins are all volunteers. They take on the thankless task of keeping the majority of us happy.

[member="Jerel"] Welcome to Chaos first of, I hope you have a great time here :)

Now as to the RP, a large part comes down to teh kind of story you want to tell. Do you want to be a Jedi, a Sith, do you want a story of war, or one of helping people. Once you have the idea there that you're after then it'll help you figure out what story you want to tell.

Like Jubei said, discord is great, the main Chaos RP has a channel for new players where people are always willing to help you out, and I would suggest joining up with a Major faction on your first character. The Major Factions have a lot more activity going on, and they have the numbers to help you out and guide you through. I joined a few months ago and for the first few days I was lost but my faction, The Silver Jedi Order, was great at helping me out, answering my questions and guiding me along till I found my feet. Of course, a faction isn't required, and there are many people who just play their stories without ever joining a faction.

The way this works is you can either join a public/open RP or set up a private one. Most RP have some kinda progression or story but there are many times people just show up in a thread and write whatever comes to mind, some of the best stories form organically that way. In the end the RP is about telling your character's story, and you're the only one who can tell they kind of story you want that to be. If you're brand new to RP then finding some kind of apprentice role at first is often useful cause it means you always have a partner willing to write with you, and someone who can help ease you into events and the like. THe grand storylines of Chaos exist around events. You have faction events, like a party held by a faction as a way to socialise. A Dominion, where a faction trying to take control of a map hex, an invasion, where you try to take a hex from someone else, or a story thread, where someone creates a story and people just join up to write their characters into it.

Jubei covered pretty much everything else,, browse around the RPs so you can have an idea of what's going on, but don't feel you have to write as much as some people. I've had fun RPs that were just sentence posts, and greats one that were huge long posts, you do what's fun for you.

And if you have any questions, feel free to ask them here, in discord or if you want PM me and I'll be happy to help out.

Again welcome to Chaos, enjoy your time here.

Aside from what others have said, I suggest reading through some threads to get an idea of how the roleplays flow here. Forum RP is different from chat RP (though if you're new to it all, it probably won't matter).

And most of all welcome and have fun! [member="Jerel"]

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"] I’m kind of the more, do whatever person, instead of following to certain rules (not like rules rules, like as in cannon or something like that)

(welcome to chaos, [member="Jerel"] . here you can be anything you can imagine. just be respectful to droids)

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"] so far, it seems like everyone starts out with a long paragraph, that has only to do with their characters, and none of the other characters

If you want to dive in there are generally a lot of open RPs that you can just jump into. It's always a lot of fun since anything can happen in those RPs. Either that or head to the LFG forum, people often post there looking for an RP, or will respond to a post of yours.

In terms of the long posts, yes when you start an RP most people write a longer opening post to establish the situation and what's going on there before they get into the actual RP.
