I Don't Sposia You Want to be a Politician?

Kay-Larr

Sposia. Nestled in Chiss space, it was an ideal and safe location for Kay to have her ship refueled. She was heading back from Mandalor after visiting her niece and on her way to Zakuul.

A handful of people rescued her from Purgatory, including those sent by [member="Yasha Cadera"] . But there was also [member="Lannis Morcus"] . Not only did he help secure her release and keep a bounty from being put on her head, but he also gave her a purpose. Zakuul needed her, much in the same way that Commenor once did. Kay wasn't certain of what she would do when she was free; either retire and sell tea somewhere, or find some place to try to fit in. But neither idea really gave her a sense of fulfillment.

You see politics is far more dangerous than the Force. Anyone could get knee deep into it. Unlike the Force, there was no need to have an ability to tap into some unseen Force. One only needed to be cunning and to see the bigger picture. And once one got into politics, one never gets out. Kay knew that well enough, for she had tried a few times. Yet politics always ensnared her in it's claws and kept a firm grip.

But it wasn't always bad. She helped one planet recover from Sith occupation and grew from that the CSA. Mistakes were made however and she lost it all. Her past came back to haunt her.

During her time on Mandalor, she had [member="Ambrose Cadera"] go to Commenor and get some of her belongings, including her freighter The Free Lady that she was in now, her young dragon Viribus, as well as some personal items. She was well prepared for the new role that she was to undertake.

Yet Kay wasn't crowned Empress of the Eternal Throne yet.

And she wanted some help, some contacts. [member="Beth Cadera"] was her connection to the Chiss; that is until she was ready to meet their leader. So before she had landed, Kay sent ahead a message for Beth to meet her at a small restaurant near the refueling station.

Beth had been adjusting fairly well to Chiss life. Between her time spent with [member="Cleru"], her coursework, and special trainings with Karisa, life had been going better than she had expected in Chiss space. The pregnancy had so far been going well, despite the intense toll it was taking on her body. Something she was slowly learning to adjust to, especially considering how much longer she had to go.

What Beth hadn’t expected was a message from [member="Kay Arenais"], asking to meet her at a restaurant during their refueling time. She had supposedly already met with @Yasha, right after she was saved from that prison. Beth was aware of what had happened, even had researched some on it. With the knowledge that Darth Prazutis was involved… Well, she had her own run ins with the Sith. He had even tried to poison her with darkness, but luckily that crisis was averted.

He could even bring the dead back to life, as demonstrated by her grandmother. He was powerful, stronger than many.

Nonetheless, Beth had let her know she’d be happy to meet her – having not seen her aunt in so long, she would have jumped at the chance at any time. Especially so after what had to be a pretty terrible, terrifying time in prison. And so, wearing a white dress the young woman entered the restaurant where Kay had asked her to meet. Finding her seat, she simply waited for Kay to arrive. And she really couldn’t wait. To catch up, find out what Kay’s plans were.

Her own life had taken such a twist itself, maybe Kay could give her some insight.

Kay wasn't dressed quite as fancy as [member="Beth Cadera"] was. But she still looked much better than she did when she was in Purgatory. The bright yellow jumpsuits were just awful.

She entered the restaurant just a few minutes after Beth did and spotted her straight away. Kay smiled as she approached. "My dear Beth, you look stunning. And so grown up!" She gave her a warm embrace before taking a seat. Ambrose in his wolf form walked in soon after and layed himself down next to Kay's feet. "How have you been? What have you been up to? I was surprised to hear that you were all the way in Chiss Space. How did this come about?" Unlike Lori, who would be asking the questions at super speed, Kay spoke evenly and calmly.

Beth noticed [member="Kay Arenais"] approach and she jumped from her seat to return the warm embrace her aunt brought with her. Gosh, how long had it been? “As do you!” Much better than the press release and Beth could only imagine how terrible the conditions where in that prison. “I guess I have grown up,” she said with a little chuckle as she sat down at the table.

She gave a nod and a little wave to Ambrose. She missed him, and her family in general. It was hard being in Chiss space away from everyone but at least she had Cleru. She gave a smile as she leaned on the table. Oh man. What had she been up to? Being in Chiss space… That was a long story, that she could probably condense pretty quickly. Maybe. “I’m great. I… Yeah, I’m surprised I ended up here, too,” she admitted. “I… Was involved in an accident. Trapped on this… Hell of a planet for a couple weeks. I still have nightmares,” she shivered slightly, “But… I got pregnant. And I’m about two months, now.” She patted her belly with a kind of exasperated, unsure grin.

She was coming to terms with how much her life plans got messed up, even though she still wasn’t very happy about it. “How are you though? When I heard you had escaped from that prison… I knew mom would find a way,” she said with a nod. She reached a hand out to give Kay’s a small squeeze. “I couldn’t imagine what you went through in there.

Kay was quick to order tea when a server happened by. Her attention was quickly turned to [member="Beth Cadera"] as she responded to her questions. Hearing of the crash and then of the pregnancy in such a short time startled her. Hopefully the father was someone that she knew and liked. "Wow...pregnant. Congratulations. But it was a nightmarish experience? Or just the crash itself?" Hopefully the latter.

As for Beth's own questions, Kay placed her hand over top of the one that the girl put in hers. "It was harsh in there. But with the help of your mom, Ambrose here, Veiere, Lord Morcus and others...I managed to not only keep hope, but to also regain my freedom. You couldn't imagine how bad my tea withdrawls were." She chuckled. "I'm on my way to Zakuul now. They need me there. One of their spiritual leaders saw me coming and others helped to make it happen. After the First Order collapsed, the area is unstable. So I'm going there to help fix that. There are many people that have more faith in my political skills than I do."

Yeeep, thanks,” she said with her eyes clearly not sure if it was something she wanted to be congratulated on. “All of it,” she said quietly. “But, we’re not here to talk about that.” She said with a smile. Perhaps another day. Or not, Beth has preferred the easier option of pushing it as far down in her mind as possible.

She gave a small smile as [member="Kay Arenais"] recounted her time in the prison. A place Beth could only imagine was filled with absolute terror. At least, perhaps, it was orderly? She gave a little chuckle at Kay’s mention of tea withdrawal. Good – she found some humor in it, despite the bad. Meant she was recovering, or perhaps even recovered from it. “Zakuul? What awaits on Zakuul?” She asked, intrigued, especially by the mention that someone had a vision that Kay was coming.

Beth had read, and saw, the devastating occurring in First Order space. It was… Terrible. But Beth had been so wound up in her own life drama, that she just didn’t have time to really focus on anything else. With things now slowing down, she was even feeling a bit restless. And one thing she refused to do was just sit around at home and get fat. “Is there anything I can do to help? I haven’t had much chance to do much since…” She motioned to her belly, “But things are calmer now.

[member="Beth Cadera"] brushed off the whole crash and getting pregnant discussion away. That got Kay a little worried. Did the father of the child force himself on her? She had someone try that before and it was a very unpleasant experience.

But Kay wasn't going to pry. When Beth was ready to talk about it, she was certain that she would.

At the request for help, Kay tilted her head to the side a bit in thought. After a short moment, she responded. "I could use an assistant. One that could sit in on trade deals and other meetings for me when I cannot be there myself due to one crisis or another. Have you ever dabbled in politics before?" Her old assistant Olivia was wonderful at it, but the woman was on Commenor. She would never leave. Nor would Kay ever think of asking her to do so.

Beth gave a small smile to her aunt, [member="Kay Arenais"]. She appreciated that she didn't ask any further questions regarding the wreck, or the twins. So many people were so nosy and... Well, Beth was still trying to not shame herself to death for it happening. It wasn't supposed to happen, after all. She had a life plan and... Kids were a ways off, many years off.

But she had to deal with the situation at hand and that meant... Babies. She gave a small nod at her question, "I have some. I was trying to help the New Republic transition Dremulae into a Republic State. I like to think I was pretty influential in the process but with the Republic collapsing..." She gave a sigh, "I might not a good one," she admitted. "I'm also the Ambassador to the Chiss for the Clans."

Of course, Dremulae was a prosperous planet, even if the Republic fell before it could become apart of it.

Kay took her tea when it arrived and sampled a taste. It wasn't too bad.

Her attention was returned to [member="Beth Cadera"] as the young lady spoke of her political experiences. They reminded Kay of her own accomplishments at that age. It may seem insignificant atthe time, but such experiences would be beneficial later on.

"One cannot help when big governments fall. I've gone through it more than once. Our best bet is to regroup and move on. Lessons are learned and we try not to repeat our mistakes. That's what I'm trying to do." She took another sip. "This time is different. It'll be met with a lot of skepticism. But for one thing it shows me where loyalties lay. And who has their hands tied."

Beth gave a somewhat sad smile at [member="Kay Arenais"] comment. Indeed, Kay had been through some of the worst that could happen. Commenor... Beth took a breath as she placed a hand on her stomach, sipping some of the water.

"That is fair," she gave an encouraging smile. That is all we could really do, after all - learn and grow. "Well, skepticism can be turned into belief," she said with a glint in her eyes. "Count me in, my loyalty will be beside you." She said with a small nod.

Kay smiled and reached her hand over to [member="Beth Cadera"] , giving it a small squeeze. It was evident that she was quite glad for the young lady's support. "Thank you, Beth. I greatly appreciate it. And not to worry, your position will be secured even after you have given birth. Though I'd expect you to take some time off for yourself for bonding time." She'd be sure that Beth would be paid of course, throughout all of it. She can't make a living without it. Though whether or not she'd have the support of the father of her children, Kay didn't know. Hopefully she did. Otherwise it was certain that her family would support them.
