I Ran

Theme Song!

Planet: Coruscant

Location: Spaceport

One distinct risk when working as a mercenary was a job going south. Even when you had The Force, even when you were skilled at precognition, even when you were just generally competent, and even when you usually knew what to look for in a bad job, you occasionally pick a bad one.

For example, someone offers you a good rate of pay to guard a shipment. It isn't going far just from one district to another and the company offering the contract is a big one, clearly just looking to protect their shipment. You question why they aren't using their in-house security and they tell you they are short-staffed this week. Makes sense companies hire outside contractors all the time.

Then you show up at the job and all the guards are mercenaries except for the one in charge. A bit weird but you've accepted the money so you go with it until the boss deviates from the planned route due to. "An unexpected lane closure." That is when all your instincts start blaring and ten minutes later you are getting assaulted by company goons. Rather than fighting though you jump from the transport land to one of the company speeders, eject the guard and take off.

Now you are on the run from the large company that can't have you blabbing about what happened because if you do, then their fraudulent insurance claim won't go through. Turns out they weren't doing so well this quarter so to keep the shareholders happy they needed an infusion of income to keep everyone happy. So a dummy shipment, a few mercs, and a staged attack easy peasy, everyone is happy except the mercs obviously but they were scum and dead so who cares?

The in short summary was the exact situation Sol had found himself in. Now he desperately needed to get off the planet before he was found and gunned down by the company in question. Which had led him here to the docs at the ship of one Adal Armina who, according to his contacts, was a smuggler of some repute. Now he just had to find her. Looking around he tries to figure out if she has an office or if he should just knock on the ship because he was running out of time.

Business, always booming when your transporting your goods yo and from places. Even better if you took a bit of ahhh say illegal contraband, weapons, people, the occasional illegals animal or two...all while being a completely legal company moving this stuff the money was good very very good

Course it meant you had to be careful, one wrong move and she could lose a entire company and be jailed. Course meant keeping all her licenses up to date so no one decided to search for a expired license.

And so here they were a busy dock as adal tapped away on a pad, having received a message from a uhhh...friwnd if hers saying she had a guy willing to pay to get smuggled off planet, alright no problem but they also included there was a hunt for him now that was a problem

Buyout she was a good person so she had to, she looked around seeing the man run into the docks as she sauntered on over and got close before speaking

well hello there my uhh friend said you'd be arriving now follow me and be quick

She pulled him best she could as she sent a vide to her team to look out for anyone searching....might as well cover herself

A woman comes out and grabs him by the arm and Sol gives her a look. Based on what she just said his contact had sent word ahead that he was coming. Which in no way made him feel secure. However, since she was leading him away from the public eye he decides to go along with her. It helped that he had no sense of danger in the immediate future... yet. Of course with a mega corporation after him that wasn't going to last long if he stayed on Coruscant.

Thus he follows the woman as she drags him along. He doesn't say anything for the moment content to let her lead the way until they were somewhere private. Once they were they could talk details and payment.

She looked around as she led him up and onto the ship before releasing him behind a container out of sight from anyone other then her crew a she chuckled and looked around again

alright I'm sure your curious about the cost of all this, not to mention how this is gonna work blah blah blah lotta detail

She took a pad out as she looked over a few things before nodding to herself, next stop was to be nar shadda deliver some ehhhh...cargo and pick up some

ok so here's the deal, it'll be 800 credits for the trip straight deal, we are heading to nar shadda next so we will drop you there should be a few days trips

She looked up at him stopping to see if he had any objections

They get to her ship and out of sight before she finally lets go of his arm. Rubbing his bicep he gives her a look as she trivialises the entire process. Not really a surprise to him smugglers tended to be a fairly roguish lot, devil may cry and all that. He listens to the entire spiel with stony detachment and then shrugs his shoulders. "Eight hundred seems fair to me." Considering the risk involved it was almost cheap. He doesn't offer his name or anything like that, not just because she didn't ask but for her own protection. Less she knew the easier it would be for her to claim him as a stowaway in the worst case scenario.

alrighty! Now follow me

She said as she walked through the ship, they got about mid way as she stopped and got to crate as she opened it revealing boxes, she then opened a door revealing it to be a hideaway as she motioned him in

ok we will be off soon after that we shall allow you move around, rather you not get crowded

She said as she chuckled and closed the doors before walking back out looking around hoping trouble hadn't arrived

Sol followed without a word as she lead him to the crates. He'd worked with smugglers before so the hidden door disguised by crates and boxes isn't a surprise. Stepping inside he settles down as comfortable as he can get as she closes the door.

Outside of the ship a group of company para-military types in black battle armor had arrived. They had no official warrant but they did have a picture of Sol and an offer of a substantial reward for information. They were also, when they thought they could get away with it, bullying their way onto people's ships to do a search. They were just one dock down and would be at Adal's dock soon.

Man seemed nice course he didn't speak much it seemed probably for the best, she looked put of her ship as she cursed. Men in all black asking question and what seems fluke forcing their way onto another freighter....she didn't have much time it seemed looks like this wpuld be a suddenly engine start and boom

crew get aboard, code 314 engine malfunction time

She got a yes ma'am back as she stood by her freighter looking as the last of the real cargo was hauled, she looked to the past military ad they cane up and held her arms out

ahhh boys in uniforms! Looks like they know what I enjoy!

She was presented with the picture and the amount if money, bloody hell that was triple what the man would pay...but she was morally good...so she shrugged and started for her ship. That's when one of the military soldiers started following saying they'd be boarding, she turned and smiled grabbing a rail inside the ship

sorry big biy, but I've a meeting at ohhh 400 and I can't miss it have a nice flight!

With that the engines were gunned sending them quickly into the air ad the man aboard would fall off befire the back closed and she laughed her crew joining her as she went to the crate and opened it

alright my new friend it's safe

The guard tries to protest but serendipitously the real port authorities chose that moment to arrive. A few seconds later black armoured thugs are being chastised by men in white uniforms. The company goons aren't cowed exactly since they have the authorities outgunned, but they know better than to continue illegal action in front of the law. For the moment it looked like they were thwarted.

Sol looked out and blinked, he'd barely been inside an hour and he'd expected it to be longer. Stretching he steps out of the hole raising his arms over his heads and reaching up. It hadn't been a long time but it'd still been a tight compact space. "Thanks for the help." Dragging his bag out of the hole he closes the crate behind him. Then he rummages about until he finds what he is looking for. "Eight hundred credit chits as promised." He says handing over two of the little cards.
