I really need to get creative

Creativity is just connecting things. It's the link between what you want to do in your mind and what happens out later on paper. And, it can be as easy as having an imagination.

The first step is finding your muse. Your core. Focusing on what it is that brought you to the website in the first place. So let's talk muse, shall we? Think about what brought you to StarWars in the first place. Was it the idea of going on an adventure? Was it action and danger, lust and romance, or fashion and flair? Think about your character and what inspired their creation. Think about what you want that character to do, to accomplish. Think about where they are now and where you want to be tomorrow. Then? It's as simple as going out there and doing it.

Example: Goal: I want to learn the Force and become a Jedi like a my father.

  • Step One: Join a Faction and get a Master
  • Step Two: PM your Master and talk about training. I recommend having your Master give you class on 3 things: The Force, The Code, The Lightsaber. Just hit the basics so your character can profess a simple knowledge of these things.
  • Step Three: Go on adventures. Let random things happen, make friends, and fight enemies. Enjoy the journey.
  • Step Four: Enjoy the over-plots that are created by your Faction. Every Faction has big threads made for everybody to accomplish together. Such as Doms, Invasions, and Political Happenings. Join these and relish making history.

This should get you to about 10 threads under your belt and take up about two months of writing time. In that time you'll experience many different writing styles, personalities, conflicts, triumphs, and Skype conversations too. And remember. If you ever lose your muse or feel sucked of inspiration? That's normal. Just take a break for a week and come back later. Burn out happens to everybody.

Finally, this is just one example of over a million ways to play the game. You're the master of your own ship here Jake. Sink or swim. That decision is always up to you. Enjoy! :D

A wise man once told me, There is no accounting for taste.

So tell us Jake. What do you like? Or, by comparison. Tell us what you dislike? Such as,

  • 1. School Days Theme: Here your character is a student in a grand academy environment. Just like Hogwarts or the Jedi Academy. Your character spends their threads studying, goofing off, talking with classmates, and learning out to succeed in their special calling.
  • 2. Military Battlefield Theme: Here your character is a grunt of the battlefield. Every thread is a thirst for survival against the guns and explosions of your enemies. Your skin is covered in dirt and your soul tormented by the war you've seen. Live or die. These threads are always filled with action, explosions, and suspense.
  • 3. Romantic Theme: Here your character is making the most of their love life. From late night casinos to the best restaurants of Coruscant. You wine and dine the ladies. Their are always conflicts and hurdles to be overcome. Such as managing your busy job and trying to find the perfect present for your new girlfriends birthday. But at the end of the day it's the spontaneous fun of building a relationship that wins through. ...Well. Until the truth comes out and the betrayal begins anew. Oh my!

See. These are just 3 themes that many Roleplaying Threads can follow. Student, Soldier, or Loverboy. Just three ideas in a whole sea of adventures. Some of which you will like? Some of which you won't? However. They are all worth trying at least once. Just to say, Yeah I did it.

So again. There is no accounting for taste. What kind of themes do you like Jake? What kind do you hate?

Perfect. Now it's time for me to make you a challenge.

Jake. I challenge you to be creative and to build two threads around ideas 1 and 3. The Student and Loverboy theme. I challenge you to recreate these themes just for your character, Jake Jace. To do them as best as you possibly can. And to let others participate and build them with you. Use your imagination as well as your Real Life experiences so far, and you will succeed.

Do you accept this challenge! :D
