I Want You for the Lords of the Fringe (open recruitment drive)

The recruiting kiosk on Nar Shaddaa looked like any other military recruiting kiosk, right down to the slogan-y posters and shiny uniforms.

Two exceptions.

Exception one: these holoposters depicted skyscraper-high monsters, cyborg hordes, bizarre alien legions and mutilated reavers, all in the process of being taken down by the Lords of the Fringe.

Exception two: the bald man at the recruitment desk was not in a uniform, nor was he especially professional of posture, nor was he content to be here. In point of fact, the man behind the recruitment desk was roughly one-quarter drunk on the Fringe drink of choice, a purplish beverage known as a Vaapad Lesson, currently residing in a tumbler and his bloodstream. He wore a sleeveless shirt and cargo pants with beskar-toed boots, and he was playing with a crystalline pyramid on the desk. It was, in fact, the holocron of Freedon Nadd, on loan from [member="Jared Ovmar"], and Seren Ordavo was spinning it like a top.

Why Nar Shaddaa? Because Fringers generally liked Nar Shaddaa people and vice versa, and because everyone came to Nar Shaddaa at some point. Also, Nar Shaddaa had the best veil dancers off Zeltros.

A huge billboard was floating in the air, except it wasn’t really floating, the man in charge of holding the thing up was just literally almost impossible to see behind the thing. Within the safe reaches of his mind the man pondered what he had done to deserve this fate.

Just yesterday he had been killing monsters, riding leviathans into battle and generally kicking ass, and now he was here… pulling propaganda duty. He was almost certain Johnny had been cheating at the cards, he wouldn’t have won otherwise, couldn’t have.

Nui Akuna, former Jedi Master, former High General of the Republic Armies, former General of the Army of Light, former hand of the Hydra Queen, and probably holder of a dozen more titles he was currently unaware of, sighed heavily at the injustice and turned around.

Giving the people a wide look on the message displayed on the board.

For the vast majority of sentients that had affiliated with the Galactic Republic, Nar Shaddaa was a cess pool of filth. Drugs flowed as fast and free as water, violence was rampant in every alleyway, and the chance of meeting a premature end was rather high. Most who fancied themselves "civilized" would have avoided such a sordid world...but there were a rare handful that were the exception to this trend. Standing at just over six feet in height, one such exception wandered about the streets with not a care in the world. Garbed in a simple hoodie, jeans, and a pair of worn boots, the male walked about as if he owned the karking place.

Of course, that sort of confidence came growing up on these very streets.

Josiah Denko identified himself as a Jedi, yet as of late he had become quite disillusioned with the way most of his affiliates went about things these days. As such, the young Master had taken some time away from all the bull poodoo and returned one of the few things that were constant in the Galaxy. Nar Shaddaa, his home, hadn't changed much over the years; although now taxes were collected by the Republic and not a criminal syndicate. Otherwise it was the same poodoo, different day.

As Josiah continued to roam about, indulging in a box of succulent puffcakes, he was greeted by the sight of something flashy. A recruitment Kiosk...for the Fringe Confederation? Well, either this was the Force at work or his cousin was keeping an eye on him. Long, confident strides bore the Jedi to the kiosk before he extended his box. An olive branch so to speak. "Want one? They're fresh." he began, addressing the two gentlemen running the kiosk.

"And where's the dotted line? I could use a shotgun these days."

She walked along the walkway with her white clad handmaidens. Her sandled feet tinkled with small bells at her ankles as she walked. Her crimson and gold wrap and veil a stark contrast from the grime and grit of the seedy world. Her gold and jeweled hands and face were either an invitation to the worst of the galaxy or a dare.

The girl covered her lower face with her red gold fringed veil as she drew near the table and let her eyes rest on the specimen that sat at his post recruiting for the fringe. The fringe...something she lived on regardless of where she was. Always an outcast even when in the center of a group. She simply didn't belong. She would stop and ask what joining them entailed.

Puffcakes. A box of fresh puffcakes. Seren's eyebrows climbed fractionally as he took in the snacks, the Master-level Force presence, and the man's willingness to join up. He took a cake and chewed it without expression. "Sign here," he said, handing Josiah a holoclipboard. "Don't forget to check the relevant boxes."

His attention turned to [member="Maar Daala"] and her handmaidens as they approached the kiosk. His eyebrows rose, if possible, higher. "Who's this come sniffin' around the Fringe?" he said with abject professionalism. "Need some more animal in your life?"

Her hand maidens each turned to whisper to her as she raised her veil to cover all but her eyes. Her face colored innocently at the man's comment.

"What girl does not love animals?" She asked shyly, "do you have an opening for me?"

She lowered her veil slightly as the blush faded and her cheeks cooled. Her eyebrow lifted slightly before settling as she waited for the strong dangerous looking man to respond. The fringe was already providing excitement.
