SPECIES: half-human / half-devaronian
HOMEWORLD: second moon of Galidraan ( small no-name planet in the Greater Tion Region)
GENDER: [Female]
HEIGHT: [172 centimeters]
WEIGHT: [60 kilograms]
EYE COLOR: [Grey]
SKIN COLOR: [Pale]
HAIR COLOR: [Dirty blonde]

OTHER PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES: Devaronian-typical black dots, dark blood, and vestigial horns.
FORCE SENSITIVITY: none

The moon II of Galidaan is slightly colder than the planet, wish means an annual average of -2 C°. Iapo worked with her mother as the communication operator for the northern sector III.
It's the kind of place where the major crisis of the galaxy passed as barely more than rumors but also where the rhodian fever still kills children every winter while on Coruscant it's an illness that was deemed easily curable a millennia ago.

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES:

1.Raised on a frozen rock
Her homeland's harsh climate has made the young woman into a physically fit person, perhaps more tough than strong. Mentally, she got used early on to hard work and a life that by necessity was disciplined and ascetic. Despite being raised in the gentle faith of the Air Spirits by her mother, she can be cold and harsh.
Her work in helping her mother with repairs on often isolated and hard to access transmission platforms forced her to learn caution to avoid mistakes that in her environment were almost always fatal. One such mistake almost killed her when she was 14 and damaged her left hand irreparably.
 • tough and disciplined
 • calculating
 • physical limitation to her left hand

2. Life in isolation
The isolation forced the half-devalorian to learn patience and she filled her time in long winter to assimilate the scarce knowledge that was available to her. That life of isolation did not prepare her, however, for the social complexity of life in the Galaxy.
On the one hand, it gave her a certain innocent pleasure for discovering how much more the Galaxy has to offer than her little baren moon but it also did not prepare her for the dangers other Sentients could pose to her. Lonely, she set out hoping for companionship.
Instead, her first few interactions leaving her planet lead her to be tricked, robbed and then framed for a crime she did not commit.
 • patient and willing to learn
 • positive attitude
 • too trusting, sometimes naive
 • not knowledgeable about the galaxy
 • limited social skills
outfit-lin-2.png

SKILLS:

A technician’s mindset:

 • strong ability to repair and modify communication devices of all sorts.

 • ability to repair and modify other electric devices such as the electronics of droids and to a certain extent, ability to repair other mechanical elements, including certain spaceships.

 • ability to wield blasters as she carried and occasionally used one to defend herself from wild animals or other threats.

An avid reader:

 • knowledgeable in some surprising (often useless) areas.

 • ability to retain knowledge quickly/ good memory.

An inmate in a prison of the Kessel sector:

 • forced to learn to socialize, at least a little bit.

 • discovered an ability for sabotage of surveillance and communication devices.

 • taught her a certain willingness to use violence and the ability to hold her own in a hand to hand fight.

 • very skilled in scrubbing floors.
But:

 • no piloting skills at all and feels uncomfortable in space.

 • the use of the Force fascinated and unsettles her at once.

 • doesn't feel comfortable in big cities.

Physical and combat skills:

Strength:2/5
Agility and speed:4/5
Endurance and resistance:4/5 ( particularly resistance to poison and infection due to devalorian descent.)

Social skills: limited
General knowledge about the galaxy: limited but improving

Medical skills: first aid:3/5
Medical skills: advanced knowledge:0/5

DEFINING TRAITS & QUIRKS:

 • Following an accident, at a transmission site where large live wires fell on her, she got electric damage on her face, near her right eyebrow and on her left hand which she raised to protect herself. Her hand is weakened and the damage on her face gives her a somewhat crooked expression where her left eye and eyebrow don’t react as much and give her a perpetual skeptical expression.
 • She still prays to the Air Spirits every morning and in time of peril but with a distinct lack a fervency. Her mother would not be proud.

BIOGRAPHY:

Iapo Sim was born from a human mother and a traveling Devalorian merchant. Her conception and birth prompted more than a few rumors but on a planet where no person could be spared, she was accepted once she could prove that she was useful. Her father got back to his travels but came to visit every few years according to Devaronian traditions.
Her mother taught her engineering and electrical work and seeing that her daughter had a talent for it, took her with her to maintain the communication platforms which connect the mining station among themselves and with the “mainland” planet of Galidraan.
After her mother got injured she began to take over more and more of her duties and got used to long solitary travels from one com-station to another.

The slow demise of the Moon II of Galidraan.

The raising industrialization on the “mainland planet” led to more and more ships approaching the planet and expelling their fuel waste near the moon leading to a lowering of the temperature. Mining became more dangerous and less profitable and with that so did Iapo’s and her mother’s job. Requests for help from Galidraan’s authorities went unanswered, so did all other inquiries to higher galactic authorities. This was only the first instance in which the young half-human was thoroughly let down by official authorities. To that struggle, another was added when the young half-human’s mother got taken by an avalanche. While the body was never found every inhabitant of the moon new that no one could escape alive from it.
In the next two years the young girl did what she had to do to survive, living from hunting when the mining stations closed down and with them her salary. Loneliness became her trusty companion and while she knew she could leave, the moon had been the only home she’d ever known.

A message from Devaron:

A message arrived soon after her 17th birthday from her distant father, telling her he’d got her message about her mother’s death an wanted to see her, offering her a place in his crew.

This was the push the young girl needed. In just a few days she made a last round of the com-station, packed a backpack and whatever she could cram into her pockets and went to the only space-port of the moon with the last of her money in local Galidraan currency.

A first unwilling step into criminality:

Said money dwindled quickly: Unused to the hustle and bustle of more affluent ports she got scammed three times before she even left Galidraan. With no money to her name, she got no other choice than to accept a spot on a large, suspiciously well-armed, spaceship carrier.
The crew was a wild mix of criminals of all kinds united under the credo of greed and profit. The first few weeks were rough.
After a stop for fuel on Jabiim she realized that the transporter was not just filled with criminal individuals but also intending very criminal actions, that is to ram the ship into the protected ore-storages of the planet. Those were better protected than the group expected and in the chaos of the butchered assault many were killed or taken prisoners by Jabiimeese security forces. Among them Iapo who became the unwilling accomplice to an attempted robbing she did not know of. The trial was rushed, she was given no chance to defend herself and ended in an off-world prison of the Kessel sector with the feeling that she could barely keep track of how she landed there.

The Prison XB-22, AJ34.

This is how the young technician, now inmate XB-b048767C, went from an honest and valuable member of society to a criminal, condemned for a violent crime, in less than 2 months.
Prison was hard, harder even than surviving a winter alone. Iapo tried to keep her head down and clammer to the hope that she would get out when she served her sentence. The system, however, let her down once more. Inmates got time added for the most non-sensical of infractions.
The guards of her sector of prison learned of her skill with everything electronic and, mistaking her youth for harmlessness gave her minor tasks under supervision instead of hard labor like the other.

That privilege would cost her. She spent the second month of prison in a hospital bed with a sharpened piece of a drinking cup in her stomach. After that she tried once again to avoid confrontation until the tension, the fear and the aggravation became too much and in a manic burst of adrenaline, she shoved one of her aggressors onto the open circuit of live fire she was working on, killing her instantly under the eye of a prison guard.

After that, she acquired 200 additional years of prison time and lost the last speck of hope and respect she had for rules and the authorities which applied them.

Leak in the hull.

This garnered her the attention of a group of three mercenaries, Twilek’s from Nar Chunna who had amassed together a grand total of 1643 years of time and felt that they wanted to demonstrate their sense of civic responsibility by testing how escape-proof the prison was.
A kid with a sense for sabotage and no specific alliance was a valuable tool to their plan.
And Iapo, who knew the kind of cheap, outdated circuits that the prison used like the back of her hand was able to shut down the communication and the surveillance feed while the three others provided the more bloody and blunt means to make a way to an escape pod.

From then on they brought her with them when they got control of a cargo ship who picked them up, stole a small ship, then from there traveled to a seedy bar on Nal Hutta where they reconnected with allies with a base on Bresnia. From there she got to hitch a ride on a smuggler’s starship to Athos IV. There their path separated.
With her father’s letter somewhere lost with the rest of her possessions on the prison base, the Rendez-Vous date long past and six hundred credits in her pocket. Athos IV was smack dap between the territories of the Confederation of independent systems, of the Outer Rim coalition and of the First order, free to chose where her path would lead her. It was one of these moments in life where, standing on an intersection, everything is still possible...

A half-devaronian and a CIS commander walk into a bar...

Leaving Athos IV Iapo hopes to find a quiet corner of the galaxy to settle down maybe or to travel some more after taking a break. What she finds instead arriving on the rumored calm and boring moon of Iktotch, is a large part of the Confederacy forces on a diplomatic campaign or on vacation. Warry at first, she meets Luna Terrik, a commander of a brand new Legion of elite fighters, by chance in a small restaurant. Intrigued by the challenge and drawn by the prospect of having a place to belong, Iapo is recruited into the Confederacy.

Preparing herself to be part of the new 117th "Dauntless" Legion, Iapo trains hard and meets new people before preparing herself to take part in her first official operation as a "Dauntless".
