OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
The Icarus Matrix is primarily designed with Point Defense in mind. This is particularly true for larger classes of capital ships that are more secuptible to large amounts of Missile, Fighter/Bombers, and Torpedo fire.
With the flexibility provided by the matrix commanders may assign turrets 'roles' and rules to ensure they are not targeting ships beyond their effective range or wasted against targets they would otherwise be ineffective against.
- Intent: Create targeting module/software for foundation of future weapon systems designed primarily for Capital ships.

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
- Manufacturer: TBC
- Affiliation: Closed-Market
- Model: ITM-7 Targeting System
- Modularity: No, but software can be patched.
- Production: Minor
- Material: Advanced Electronics
- Software is compatible with most weapon systems, and can easily be modified to implement multiple weapon systems into the array.
- Machine Learning - The primary feature of the Icarus module is the ability to proactively improve firing solutions and given enough 'training' identify weaknesses or predict enemy fighter movements. In the case of capital ships given sufficient experience it may identify weaknesses or flaws and highlight them to gunnery crews.
- Priority Target - Icarus is able to identify priority targets for automated PD as determined by bridge crew. This enables Capital ships with this technology to focus on enemy combatants or torpedoes/missiles.
- Array - Each automated turret slaved to the module can be assigned to a array each with its own targeting priorities. For example commanders may wish for Flak turrets to target enemy fighters while lasers target incoming missiles or torpedoes.
- The Icarus is reliant upon machine learning, it can be trained by simulation or war games but unorthodox attack patterns or new weapon systems may confuse it. Similarly, if training simulations are incorrectly administered any enslaved turrets will be much less effective.
- Machine Learning is a long and oftentimes tedious process that can delay production if implemented at later stages.
- Can be combined with Helios Sensor array to counter and track stealth ships.
- Like all targeting systems it is heavily reliant upon sensors. Damaging or corrupting these will massively reduce effectiveness.
- Vulnerable to Cyber Warfare if inadequately protected.
