- Primary Source: N/A
- Manufacturer: Darth Tacitus, The Devil's Claws
- Affiliation: Closed-Market | Srina Talon
- Model: Sith Sword
- Modularity: No
Production: Unique
- Material: Alchemically-altered Songsteel, Ostrine-coated edge
- Classification: Nelvaanian Longsword
- Size: Average - 1.1 Meters
- Weight: Light
- Kiss of Winter: Icefang has been altered through Sith Sorcery and Alchemy to impart it with the ability to drain away energy from anything its blade hits. With each hit, the sword gradually freezes its target, slowly reducing its temperature down to absolute zero. This affects any physical materials and lightsabers as well, although the number of hits required for the damage to become significant varies, with harder materials taking much longer. The effect is also not permanent, although depending on the extent, it may take longer for an object to recover and it can inflict serious wounds to a person by causing frostbite. This energy drain is what powers the sword's abilities and even applies to blaster bolts, which are absorbed by the blade
- Bound by Blood: The sword has been sorcerously imprinted onto Srina Talon's bloodline. Only she and her descendants may wield the blade and if anyone else tries to use it, the sword's abilities will turn against them instead of the target
- Ostrine Edge: The sword's edge is coated in Ostrine, giving it the the ability to retain its heat absorbant abilities even in the presence of Ysalamiri because of the metal's inherent properties. However, due to the coating is somewhat brittle and requires periodic maintenance
- Absolute Zero: The sword gradually drains away energy with each hit, decreasing the target's temperature until it reaches absolute zero. This can cause serious damage to an object and inflict grievous injury onto an individual, as each cut will freeze an area, inflicting all of the secondary effects that this causes, such as frostbite. The effects are cumulative, so each cut will gradually do more damage, until the consequences become severe
- Lightsaber Resistant: Forged out of Songsteel, Icefang is resistant to lightsabers, being able to block and deflect blows from such weapons just like a lightsaber would
- Absorbs Blaster Bolts: Due to how the sword functions, draining energy to feed its own abilities, the blade is capable of absorbing blaster bolts up to a certain intensity. A powerful-enough blaster will overwhelm the sword's ability to absorb energy, though, therefore something large enough will bypass the blade and inflict harm upon the wielder
- Force Light: As a result of the sorcerous and alchemical techniques through which the sword was forged, it is vulnerable to the purifying effect of Force Light, which will drain away its powers and potentially even destroy it
- Ysalamiri: Because the sword's abilities rely on the Darkside, any objects which nullify the Force, such as Ysalamiri and Void Stones will temporarily render these abilities inert, until the nullifying object is removed, or the sword's wielder leaves its sphere of influence
- Darkside Beacon: The sword's abilities heavily draw upon the Darkside of the Force to function. As such, Icefang has a very powerful and noticeable presence in the Force and any Force sensitive individuals will be able to detect its presence, the distance varying with the individual's level of training, a master being able to sense it from a much longer distance than an apprentice
- High Maintenance: The Ostrine edge of the sword requires periodic maintenance, otherwise it becomes brittle, degrading over time until its effects are lost completely
Once upon a time, there was a Sith Lord named Darth Tacitus, who fell in love with an Echani woman called [member="Srina Talon"]. That story is a long and hard one and it shall not be told here in its entirety, for it would take a long time to do so and this is neither the place, or time appropriate for that. This is the story of a sword called Icefang, which the Sith Lord forged for the Echani maiden, along with a suit of armor, out of a desire to protect her from harm.
This story begins with the events on Hoylin, where our Sith Lord bore witness to the near death of the woman who's sister he secretly loved. Until then, Tacitus had been determined to keep a certain distance, fearing that the road he walked upon could cause his loved one harm, but that fateful day changed everything.
Witnessing the horrors on Hoylin awakened in him something he had not felt in a long time: fear. The fear of losing a loved one. Once, a long time ago, he had been unable to prevent the death of a woman he loved, who was cut down before his own eyes and there had been nothing he could do about it. Luckily for him, this time he was also ruler of a planet known as Nelvaan, where his Eternal Empire resided. This time, he had resources at his disposal, vast resources which he could draw upon and a mastery of the Darkside he had gained over the hard years of his life.
So, the Sith Lord summoned the greatest Sorcerers and Alchemists of his realm and deep within the secret vaults of his frozen fortress, he forged a set of armor and a sword, this sword. This time, it was not pain, or hatred that he poured into the blade, but love. He gave it all, his hopes and dreams, his secret love for the Echani maiden, his desire to keep her safe from anything that would do her harm. This sword was his masterpiece, his magnum opus.
Icefang would be the sword's name, and such a fitting name it was. The Sith Lord's desire to protect his beloved maiden, imprinted upon it the ability to absorb the things that would cause her harm. Blaster bolts, a lightsaber's power, the very life force of those who were the maiden's enemies, with each cut the sword would take a little more. Wounds inflicted by this blade would freeze, as would anything else touched by its deadly edge, all energy and heat slowly sapped away until only icy death remained.
Those who survived the blade's icy kiss, would find themselves suffering from grievous wounds, their flesh ravaged by frostbite. Objects hit by it would slowly freeze with each cut, until they became so cold and brittle that they would shatter from the lightest touch.
The Sith Lord was pleased with the result, but he was not yet done. He imparted more and more into the blade, the love he gave it marred by human sacrifice and sorcery so dark and vile, that they shall not be spoken here, or anywhere else. Fearing some could try to take the sword from the maiden and wield it against her, he bound the sword to the her bloodline, insuring that only she and her descendants could wield it. If any others tried, the sword's powers would turn against them, its vengeful wrath unleashed upon the thief, inflicting punishment upon the transgressor.
And yet, nothing in this universe is absolute, no power unlimited, no ability insurmountable. There is only so much that the blade can take, too much energy overwhelming it and inflicting harm upon the wielder. And all of its power is derived from the Darkside of the Force, not only giving away its wielder's presence, but also depending on its connection to function. The fiery touch of the Lightside would inflict damage to the sword, maybe even destroy it entirely. And the mere presence of anything that banished the presence of the Force, would render its abilities inert.
The work complete, he gave the sword to his beloved, along with his secret hopes and dreams and his desire for her life to be better than his own had been.
