Idea: Titles

So, this is something I'd spoken to Coren about, and had drifting around in my head for a while, but the Jedi titles like the Sword of the Jedi etc. It would mean a lot if these titles came as a source of peer approval, saying you've done a great job so here have this reward. Something like that would be best served by a group like the Jedi Council, outside of an individual faction, where we have the leaders of the Jedi across the board agreeing to bestow a title on someone.

In my head it looks like a list of criteria, and someone can be nominated for a reward at which times it comes to the group and we discuss it. If the agreement is made then they get a 'knighting' ceremony equivilent where the title is bestowed on them. We can get some fancy artwork made up too for signatures.

It would help give the council legitimacy, while at the same time providing the Jedi on the board a really cool set up.

This sounds like a great idea, yeah. Something that the collective members can offer all Jedi, as opposed to rewards that are usually kept in-faction. It's this kind of contribution and co-operative encouragement that makes me really happy to see everyone coming together and making the whole Jedi experience fun for all, regardless of differences in role-play directions being taken.

A great idea, and a nice touch for all Jedi not just in faction as you have said. Just one request from me, if someone is nominated can you add to your list of criteria a few links to RPs that would help illustrate their proposed nomination?

Mostly because it is hard to keep track of who has done what over the RP boards, it does not have to be their full RP track, just a couple to take a look at their brilliance. ^_^

I was thinking there could be a nomination form we can make available or something where those links can be included?

Or if it's going to be just us then when we put someone up we include those links. But certain titles may need a specific thing? Like sword of the Jedi etc. If you want those titles you need to earn them.

Yeah adding the links to the form is good idea.

I was thinking that mostly the Jedi factions have their own titles like the Sword of the Jedi or the like and that they might want to continue to be the ones that give those titles to their members when they are earned? So I am not sure if we should be the ones to give out the titles that are already faction based?

Maybe we could come up with titles out side of that area that are only given by the council which might make it more important to earn and an incentive to earn?

So the titles will be something that would be valued by all Jedi factions and Jedi alike. For example, The Sword of the Jedi who is a member of the Silvers is only the Sword for the Silvers, but a like title given by the council would be deemed the Sword of the entire Jedi.

Gosh I hope I am making sense.

I like the break up of that. One thing that was the cause of this, was that even though someone may be of House Silver, or House Dawnguard, they're a major player in the Jedi overall. With a lot of changes in the site lately, we have the Orders, but there are those players who show up to everyone's party and supports the Jedi how they can.

And I feel they should be recognized, and this group could do that.

I actually didn't know that other Orders were using titles like the sword, but absolutely I love the idea of this as a separate thing.

Those players who are bouncing around between organisations, or who do something that should be recognised by the greater Jedi too.

Was having a little look around for some ideas for titles.

Correct me if I am wrong, or haven't found anything yet, but Jedi did not really name their saber., eg like Oathkeeper and Whatever'sbane.

But one I found, Sword of Honor. Maybe something like this could be the biggie, the most highest honour given to a top Jedi. There could be other titles given as well like.

Just very much popping these off the top of my head as I type this, but maybe might get some creative juices flowing.

Could go for Shields or any cool synonym of it rather than blades/swords and weapons. I don't know, seems more Jedi-ish to me.

Well, there is also the option of using both depending on what they do.

The sword type titles can be handed out for things like a Jedi taking on a major bad, like Obi vs Darth Maul, or if someone faced Matsu Xiangu etc. The Shield titles are when you go above beyond in defence.

This can culminate with the accolade of Sword of the Jedi, and Shield of the Jedi etc.

We can also do something research/knowledge based for someone who has put in the time to develop a technology for the Jedi like Alkahest.
