If I needed you
Would you come to me
Would you come to me
For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the seas
For to ease your pain
Would you come to me
Would you come to me
For to ease my pain
If you needed me
I would come to you
I would swim the seas
For to ease your pain
Marzena Choi stepped into the room and offered [member="Ludolf Vaas"] a reassuring smile. Her arms were wrapped around her datapad, a small bag of prescriptions, and a number of forms and reference materials that had been closed into a folder. Her mind was racing and her heart pounding, a woman on the verge of being completely overwhelmed. She set her things down on a chair by the door and took a deep breath, determined to keep an even keel. Ludolf was usually the strong one; always there to comfort her in times of distress... but this time, it was her turn.
Careful steps brought her to Ludolf’s bedside, pleased to see that he had finally been freed of the wires that had connected him to various monitors. He was still bandaged and clad in hospital garb; it was upsetting to see him in such a state. The fear of losing him was still fresh in her mind. But he was alive. Marzena could not begin to express how grateful she was, and she could not bring herself to even think of a life without him. For a moment she just gazed at Ludolf, the love and affection quite clear in her eyes. Slowly, she reached for his hand, and gave a gentle squeeze.
“Everything is ready.” She spoke softly, leaning down to place a kiss on his cheek.
After a moment or two, she retrieved some clothes from her shoulder bag. She set the neatly folded outfit on the foot of the bed, and helped Ludolf sit up. “Here, I’ll help you.” Marzena said with a nod, hoping that he would allow her to assist. She knew that this transition would not be easy; Ludolf was a man that was not used to leaning on anyone in this way. But he could count on her to remain by his side. After all, she would soon become his wife, for better and for worse. Once he was dressed, they made their way out to the transport that sat waiting, a retinue of guards and a few orderlies from the hospital in tow.
The ride home was spent mostly in silence, Marzena sat with her datapad on her lap, double checking all of the reminders she had just set up. But every so often, her dark eyes flickered up to Ludolf. Even before they had left the hospital, she had scheduled all of his follow up scans, and the home visits for physical and occupational therapy. She also had his schedule for pain medication programed; the doctor had impressed upon her the importance of maintaining his level of comfort. The medical staff had seemed cautiously optimistic that Ludolf would fully recover. However, they had made sure that she was well aware... it would take time.
When they finally reached the door to their flat, Marzena pushed it open and breathed a sigh of relief. It was good to be back. She stepped to the side to let Ludolf enter first, her palm rubbed his back for a moment as he moved past. Marzena shut the door, leaving their guards outside, and helped Ludolf out of his coat.
“Welcome home, my love.”
