If you're a Starchaser, you gotta chase stars

See, the problem with her father was that he was intense. He was determined and he was dedicated. And that made him a radical. It made him radical, sure, because look at his flying, but it made him a bit zelous and that was never good for someone who might have made a mistake. How long had Kinsey been gone? Kaia was unsure, but she wasn’t happy about it. She couldn’t find her cousins, no matter how much she tried, and with only one of the pair back? Where was Dax?

That was not good, but the return of one, back to the Roost? That was important. And that was why they made the trip out to the Dawn Treader. It wasn’t that far away from Sullust, but the Warden of the Sky had taken the detour out to help a ship that had no power, and once that was running, the Double Ks were heading to the home ship.

A real simple trick, picking up credits, enough to barter and lie with, providing that one of them could pull off a mind trick, if the price was too high. If it was fair? They’d make the purchase and bring the ship home. The Wandering Star was staying moored where the Treader was based and the mechanics were going to check out the ship. But until then, the two girls would be taking wherever Kinsey chose, and they could probably skip right down to being on the planet.

Or station.

Unlike Sage Bane who would hunt her down every time she ditched the mother ship, she knew Coren wouldn't. Her uncle kinda sorta trusted her. Kinda sorta. At least, with Kaia he did. Even if he didn't know his niece had been Kaia-napped.

Finally. Like totally. Coren, like Sage, probably needed to chill sometimes.

Not saying she wasn't grateful for him taking her back in. She was. But she was a Starchaser. Sitting too long in one place just wasn't in her blood. And deep down, she knew he knew that. Boots were on the ground. Well, plating of the massive station they were docked it.

Mmmm, smell that recycled air. Just like home. Settling.

She looped an arm with Kaia, almost like she had never been sith-napped in the first place. The double trouble K's were on the move. Watch out station, especially the station men. A dilapidated but recently posted sign caught her Starchaser-blue eyes. "Oooooh, Kaia. Check that out. There's an auction in Hangar 27-B Level 3!!!! Want to check it out? Pleasepleasepleaseplease???"

Apparently Kaia didn't like me being sick, nor Ziggy Stardust dying. After all, Space Oddity was a huge influence in the creation of the Starchasers. Their spaceships know which ways to go. And well, they were really Starmen, and when you think about Kaia Starchaser, one of her major songs was "Moonage Daydream", because she was a space invader, even if she didn't keep her space-face close to anyone. But that came in large part from the lack of Kinsey in her life. The... older? mature-er cousin was a leading influence on Kaia. And now the two were back together!

How stellar was that?

So stellar!

(Super green)

And the pair were out ship hunting. She knew her father wouldn't mind. Coren had a lot of things to worry about, his hyperspace helping, his strike team, the Alliance. Coren was probably trusting Kinsey, but Kaia didn't mind. They got to the location where there were some ships up for sale and Kins noticed the auction.

"Yeah! Lets go!" She smiled, all but skipping now.

"Wait. Let's take a selfie." Pulling Kaia in without much fuss, she held back her I-comm and snapped a pic. Blue-eyes squinted at the result before she hit send to Coren. "Perfect."

It would be good to keep him kinda in the loop. Especially if her older sister started asking nosy questions. The auction sign was in the background too. That way...if they needed help or something happened at least he's have a place to start.

Not that anything would happen. And even if it did, she'd protect Kaia at all costs. Once they got to the right level, she signed them in. "Do you think Coren would mind if I used his accounts? I'd pay him back. I swear."

The thing was....Sage always paid for everything. He may have mind-frakked her but he did spoil her. And her time with the Alliance hadn't paid much. Apparently, she would've gotten a bigger pay check being a garbage attendant on Bespin than fighting in a war.

Life.

Squeezing by some Rodians, she motioned to a pair of empty seats in the back of the auction room. Which was clearly a converted Cantina. The soft serve machines were still working.

But first, lets take a selfie. Now, that really reminded Kaia of her other other cousin, Token. Yeah, the blonde girl was Starchaser, by sort of blood. And she was more than enough to handle when it came to a night out. Kaia didn’t spend much time with Token, but the girl was basic, and full of bathroom selfies. Smiling as Kinsey pulled her in, the tattooed Starchaser smiled.

Keeping her father updated wasn’t a bad idea, but she didn’t want Coren coming to chase the pair down. But it wasn’t like they were doing anything wrong, Kinsey needed a ship, obviously. And they were working on finding her one.

“I’ve got the money, the ship allows certain purchases to be charged to the contractors.” Because Warbird Wing, the wing that lived aboard the Dawn Treader were guns for hire. They had money. Plus Starchaser Enterprises was doing some good work, and making credits, would cover the rest. “So you find something, we can buy it!” She smiled.

Taking the seat, she looked up, a few freighters, some larger than the rest, and some smaller shuttles. What was Kinsey going to get?

"Great," she forced a small smile. Yes, she was excited about getting a ship but she wasn't excited that she had to rely on someone else to do that. Always someone else. The rare Kinsey-emotion of depression edged its way into the back of her thoughts. "Thanks."

Full-lips pursed.

Pools of blue shifted away from her cousin's face and focused on the lots of ships as they passed on the huge hollow screen. There were some star fighters and some freighters. Some of the fighters she knew Uncle Coren would like, if he didn't have them already. Even though she felt wayward, she knew if she was meant to find a ship here, it would just feel right.

Starchaser blood.

And then there it was. A MC15 Niathal-class shuttle. Used - of course. There was a tingling in her bones. She grabbed Kaia's arm, bouncing excitedly in her seat. "That's it, that's it!"

Arm shot up in the air as the first bid was called. Looked like they were in a bidding war with a twi'lek sporting an eye-patch.

Kaia was really excited to get Kinsey flying again. They could get out there and be Starchasers for real now! Well, Kinsey could. Kaia always was. If she was one thing, she was the traditional Starchaser, with the rest of them, well her father and that wayward cousin of hers, being very odd and getting involved in galactic politics. Kaia stayed away from that vibe.

It totes killed her vibe.

She looked up shocked when Kinsey grabbed her arm. The Niathal? She knew that her father had flown a few, and the Silver Coalition used them. They were solid craft. “I know they’re good for exploration. And pretty hardy, too!” She smiled and bit at her lip. “You sure?”

As if she needed to ask. Kaia and Kinsey were off, and the tattooed Starchaser looked at the Twi’lek.

Really, man?
