Strengths:

* Light Defensive Armament - The vessel has an heavy capital armament with very limited defensive weapon systems.
* Blind Spots in Weapon Arcs - The aft arc and ventral hull have very lightly armed with no capital grade weapons, leaving the vessel open to attacks from below and behind.
Description: The IFW Ardent-class are designed for rapid response and quick strike vessels. Like their namesake, they are used to rapidly close with an enemy and exploit weaknesses in their lines in preparation for larger more powerful vessels to move in and finish the job. Using their speed, agility, and heat weaponry, the Ardent-class hit enemy fleets picket lines and escorts opening up holes in the enemy fleets formation and eliminating anti-attack craft vessels. Thier agility and weapons come at a price of light armor and weak shielding. Power from the ships capacitors are dedicated to powering the heavy weapons of the vessel and only minimal power is supplied to the shielding during battle. The hull is made up of light grade Durasteel keeping the vessel light and agile in battle. Combat Thrusters give the class superior maneuverability allowing the class to move into an enemy formation and get stuck in and engage ships from arcs where their weapons are not able to engage the Ardent.
The Class has no a small hanger which can accommodate one Squadron of Attack Craft and two shuttle craft, is located on the aft of the vessel below its three main thrusters. Two Quad Laser Cannons make up the only aft arc weapons leaving the ship vulnerable to attack from behind. Two Dual Ion Cannons are mounted in turrets on the forward dorsal hull which can cover a two hundred and seventy-degree arc from the forward axis. Eight dual turbolaser cannon turrets are mounted amidships on the dorsal hull four each flanking the forward superstructure. These turrets fire in the port and starboard arcs only. Six Heavy Turbolaser Batteries are located along the hulls rim, three on each flank, aligned to fire in a one hundred and twenty-degree arc from the forward to port and starboard arcs. Rounding out the Offensive weapons of the Ardent Mk X-class are twenty variable warhead launchers positioned on the hulls rim amidships. Ten launchers each on the port and starboard rim can fire in their respectable arcs utilizing the homing capabilities of may of hits warhead types. The launchers are fed by auto loaders which can select the one of the many types of warheads from its internal warhead magazine. This magazine can hold up to four hundred missiles of the following types.

The Ardent-class Fast Frigate has a crew complement of one thousand two hundred crew and two hundred security troopers. Its holds can carry five thousand tons of cargo and consumables for a full crew complement for one full standard year.
