Vaudin Miir
Planetary President of Iktotch
The third moon of Iktotchon was a barren place filled with some of the most resilient people in the galaxy. The deserts of gravel and sand could swallow whole cities in a single storm but the people would dig out or rebuild. It had been that way for eons and their government was no different. It had been buried in storm after storm of war and dug out, rebuilt, soldiered on.
Iktotch was one of the oldest democracies in the galaxy and Vaudin Miir was one of the longest lasting members of their once strong senate. He had left his place in the planet's politics for a long time. He had wandered the space lanes, lived a debauched life, but it was time to go home, something deep in the force called him back, and for once he was sober enough to heed its urging.
His ship touched down and he took a deep breath as he stepped out to meet the welcoming party. The force was strong here, he could feel the vergence in the world as he stepped onto the landing pad. It was more connected than he had felt for decades. He smiled at the men and women that had come to meet him and he couldn't help but notice how much older they looked, but maybe he looked older too.
Vaudin was embraced by a former friend from his days in the republic and returned the gesture in earnest.
"Been a long time, Miir." The Iktotchi woman said as she stepped back. "We thought you had run off and forgotten about us."
"You should know better, Sae Si." He replied as they turned to walk in the group of leaders, "Is everything ready?"
"Of course, you know what the force has shown us." She said folding her hands into her robes, "We need to be united now more than ever. The republic is gone, the Jedi are no better than Sith and there is a Storm on the horizon."
"I've seen it, Sae Si." He said as they walked toward the Iktotchi senate hall, "We need to rebuild, the galaxy needs a shelter against the storm and we need it soon."
They walked into the building in silence he needed to win the vote for presidency. He needed to raise the Iktotch Defense Force and rebuild the Jedi. The real Jedi, defenders of peace not the reckless lasersword soldiers of flawed systems. He just didn't think he was the Iktotchi for the job.
