Biography

Ilansi Noble was not always the man he is today, though his changes had been subtle. He was born into the galaxy un-remarkably, although he began to show signs of Force Sensitivity at a young age. Ilansi was soon shepherded into the Jedi Order, not more than six or seven years old. It was fortunate in many ways, the chance for the young boy to experience higher levels of education into the galaxy at large, and training into the basic elements of the Force, rather than face the hardships of living the fringe life as the child of career spacers.

Indeed, Ilansi excelled in many of ways. He showed great aptitudes in his training towards elements of telepathy, and telekinesis. He had a natural talent for understanding the intentions of others, sometimes showing signs of understanding languages he had never heard before, being spoken by aliens and beasts alike. In time, he was granted a Master to give him finer tutelage of the Force. At the age of nine, he began to study under Master Unten Noven, a dissident Jedi Master whom defied the traditional values of the Order in favor of his own philosophical approach which preached balance.

It was in these next years that Ilansi made his change. By the age of sixteen he had traveled and experienced his own share of life as a Jedi Padawan, enough to instill in the young man his core beliefs and tenants about being. He was every bit the student of Master Noven; he held beliefs which often ran afoul of traditional models. He was a man of his own values, which themselves were a reflection of his deepest beliefs in the code of the Jedi Order. He was quickly becoming a young man obsessive of expanding knowledge and experience, always eager to travel to the next star. Never willing to stay in one location for very long.

It was this same age, however, that he was unduly and violently parted with Master Noven. While traveling the stars of the Outer Rim, their transport was attacked by pirates and the two were overwhelmed. During the boarding attack Master Noven was struck by several blaster bolts, and succumbed to his wounds after laboriously beating back the majority of the marauders. The rest were dispatched by Ilansi in a last ditch effort to separate their transport from the invaders' docking clamps.

After the battle was won, the sixteen-year old Ilansi limped the damaged space transport to the first location he could imagine - a shady man to whom his Master had closely worked many occasions before. A businessman, of sorts. He explained the situation, and the two surveyed the damage together. Ilansi was poised to make his most life-altering decision, when he came up with a deal for his Master's old friend. In exchange for relinquishing the Jedi transport for a hefty sum of credits, and a black market identification change done by his most trusted sources.

So was born Ilansi Noble. No longer a Jedi Padawan. That title had been stricken from him when the pirates had attacked that fateful day. He had a fresh start, utilizing his own set of principles and beliefs about the Jedi Code, the galaxy, and the Force in general, and enough credits to start a new life. It was an easy choice for the newly minted Ilansi to make, and he quickly used the majority of his credits to purchase his first personal starship. He chose a long-duration style Incom A-24 'Sleuth' scout ship, with an upgraded sensory and astrogation array for surveying and star-charting. Again, he utilized his benefactor's sources for one last act, as favor to his fallen Master. He lined the young Ilansi up with a job; work as a freelance astrographer.

Ilansi spent the next few, formative years, using his new career as a way to further his experience in the galaxy-at-large. Traveling, often-times, to locations not yet charted, perhaps never before explored by the likes of civilization, at all. It was a chance to sate his intellectual curiosity, his desire to categorically seek out an answer to every question that may arise. All the while, he saw the galaxy through the lens of his own mind, and connection to the Force. Never did he falter in putting into practice all the lessons he had hard-learned from his former Master, and from the Jedi Order itself. Despite his rebuke, his departure from their rolls, he still looked favorably upon them.

As the years grew longer Ilansi gained a reputation for his efficiency in star charting and willingness to endure long solo charting missions. He would spend months on end, alone to the stars, and the occasional trip into the atmospheres of uncharted planets. He was content to be alone to his ruminations, though he often found himself dealing with other sentients', be they pirate, mercenary, or in between.

The time he spent in the proximity of society were generally outpost-type settlements, dens of smugglers and various shady brokers of this or that variety. It imprinted a rather detached sense of empathy towards others of his own, or other, sentient species. The Will of the Force, he concluded, was not altogether concerned with suffering or disorder. His was not a Jedi-like duty to help and protect, as many were. But rather, to observe and comprehend. He could not change what the Force itself would not, but rather, he could watch the Force unfold itself before him. His was a passive part of the pattern, in a sense.

The emotional distance he felt between himself and the other sentients of the galaxy grew and subsided on many of occasions, as he strove for a better balance between his feelings and his pursuit of understanding in a more rational manner.

In time, however, Ilansi began to sense a yearning to return to the proper side of the galaxy. To experience again what he had neglected for so long - to walk the streets of planet-spanning cities, to consume the sights and sounds of this vast and great galaxy-spanning civilization. For fifteen years Ilansi had traversed the edges of known space, and collected a substantial sum of credits for his efforts in the process, and now was the moment when he considered he might make good on his work as a citizen of the stars.

Strengths and Aptitudes

* Intellectual Curiosity - Ilansi is well educated in various manners of scientific exploration, and often puts himself into situations where he might be able to experience or otherwise document new or misunderstood phenomena. As such, he has a deep reserve of knowledge for most situations, be they mundane or otherwise. Likewise, his familiarity with the current methods of galactic science allow him to be adaptive and swift a learner, when presented with new situations and environments.

* Force Comprehension - A natural trait in Ilansi, heightened by his connection to the Force. He finds it easy to assess the feelings of beasts, and sentient species, so as to ascertain their potential for hostility. Ilansi can interpret, in a general sense, the intended meanings behind languages spoken in his presence, regardless of his level of academic or social fluency.

* Physical Conditioning - Ilansi spends countless hours exercising to pass the time during particularly long hyperspace routes and while previously undertaking long survey missions. He can find himself in a meditative sub-trance-like state while exercising, allowing the Force to flow through him, guiding his movements and allowing him to tap into greater reserves of stamina.

* Brawling - Due to having spent far too many days and nights in the seedier sides of the galaxy, where temperaments usually ended with fist fights and blaster scorches, Ilansi has had his fair share of street fighting. Generally in a defensive posture, with the intention of extracting himself from the scenarios. He nevertheless knows how to throw a decent punch and when to zig instead of zag.

* Use of the Force - Raised as a child to be a Padawan of the Jedi Order, Ilansi has been long instructed in the utilization and lore surrounding the Force. While apprenticed to a Jedi Master, he began to learn more intermediate skills and more advanced theory on the practicality of the myriad of applications of the Force. However, Ilansi does not have the depth of mastery over the Force as many of his former peers, in a general sense. Without the further honing and conditioning of the Jedi Order to guide him, nor his former Master to advise him, Ilansi decided to forge on alone. Learning to tame his powers, as well as experiment with the Forces' limitations, on his own, studying the path he desired. He honed skills and abilities that he found practical use for in his own life, and to further his own intellectual curiosity.

* Astrological Aptitude and Galactic Spacial Knowledge - Ilansi is an accomplished astrographer, having dedicated quite a few of his years to the trade. He is capable of calculating hyperspace routes with similar precision to that of a droid, in most instances. Whether or not this ability has been heightened by his connection to the Force is unknown. Similarly, Ilansi is familiarized with an extensive number of alien species, both sentient and non, due to his travels.

Limitations and Weaknesses

* Social Ineptitude - Ilansi has spent nearly half of his life alone in contemplation, traveling between distant stars in uncharted spaces - his only brush-ins with other sentient beings' being with smugglers, pirates, thieves, or malcontents of any other kind, and merchants whose loyalties were always in question. Due to this seclusion, he has a tendency to speak without thinking, or otherwise showcase incorrect or inaccurate behaviors. He appears to operate beyond the social norms and graces, though he is aware of this issue, and often attempts to mask it by remaining generally silent, or speaking tersely.

* Intellectual Arrogance - His high level of intelligence comes at the folly of an arrogant mind. Ilansi is slow to accept assistance in any kind of activity requiring planning, and tends to take a firmly self-reliant stance on most occasions.

* Limited Resources - Ilansi has cultivated few relationships in the galaxy, opting instead to earn his credits through exploration. A choice he regrets little, however, now that he has returned, he finds himself with no sense of direction. No contacts to latch onto, no home to return to - not without potentially alerting the Jedi Order to his survival, though he doubts few would even recall his old name. He is alone in a vast galaxy, seeking answers to questions he doesn't even know to ask yet. He will need to start from scratch, to find his role in the galaxy.
