I'll Try Spinning

"We'll be there soon, I'd say just 'bout a few more minutes."

The irritating familiarity that had now seemingly engraved itself into her pilot's tone rouse Jorryn from her quick nap as she leant against her palm near the port side window, having drifted off watching the stars pass by as they made their way to Nathema.

The stars she watched were now being hidden away by the large projects of [member="Vanessa Vantai"], some type of super weapon or some sort. All Jorryn knew about the projects was that they would serve the Empire well, though she wondered what type of havoc they would wreak.

The superweapons were not what the acolyte had made her way to this part of the galaxy forever, though it certainly was a decent fringe benefit. No, Jorryn was sent as an envoy of the Inquisitor's to pay a visit to the woman in charge of the projects.

It was certainly no inspection or other dubious matter, simply a wish of the Inquisition to have all their ducks in a row with his knowledge of what the Empire and it's servants were doing at any given time. A commendable effort to obtain knowledge of all the dabblings of the Empire, using the tendrils that made up their service to add to that collective knowledge.

The Echani picked herself up before allowing the man in the cockpit to give himself another chance to hear his own voice, adjusting her cloak before making her way towards the exit ramp of the ship. As she stood by her mind did begin to wonder about the endless possibilities of these new stations.

Perhaps she could ask for a demonstration.

The Inquisition's intentions were not as much regarding a checkup as it was a response to potential treason. Vanessa had correlated the data regarding the Littoran Incident, where, under peaceful discussions with the planet and its corporations, Imperial naval vessels had committed acts of piracy against a freighter convoy, stealing the ships and forcibly redirecting them to Yaga Minor. The estimated hyperspace route of the ships, their identification, their class, and every other expected asset that could be acquired, including the captains, personnel rosters, and who the ships reported to, was listed for the Inquisitorial representative to make use of.

Baradium made from industrial by-products had been brought to a small-scale manufacturing operation, currently working on baradium-based ordnance for testing and implementation by the Sith on a grand scale. The Ablution along with the rest of the Void Irregular Fleet was here. Once Jorryn exited the ramp of her shuttle, she would find gold and black-armored Stormtroopers - Novatroopers - flanking Vanessa Vantai, who smiled as she looked the Inquisitorial acolyte over.

"Ah. Jorryn Fordyce. A pleasure to see the Inquisition send someone... as capable as yourself. Please, come with me."

It did put a smile on the acolyte's face to see that the Lord in charge of the station had rolled out the carpet for her, the prestigious troopers flanking either side of the ramp as Jorryn descended. She only basked it in for a short while before giving her full attention to the blonde woman in front of her, giving a quick pat down of the Sith before addressing her.

"Thank you, my lady." Even as an envoy of the Inquisition, Jorryn made sure to not forget her manners when speaking to a Lord of the Sith. "Darth Saarai sends his regards along."

The Echani followed along with [member="Vanessa Vantai"] quickly, taking the time to note small observations throughout the operations. Nothing was out of step however, in fact the soldiers seemed dutiful and keeping the machine of war well oiled. But currently the acolyte was more curious about what the Sith Lord was going to show her.

“Well, I can’t say I’m disapppinted to be receiving an actually warm reaction from the Inquisition. And here I was expecting someone would have tried to sic them on me for some perceived misdeed.” And the chances were in fact still quite possible, thus she had to focus and build a good relationship with this acolyte in order to ensure that any potential future encounters remained positive. She motioned for Jorryn to come with her as they would exit the hangar.

“Be sure to pass my regards back.” She said. “As for why I called you out here... suffice to say that I believe we may have a cabal of traitors within our midst.” Vanessa smiled as she continued towards the main deck of the ship. “During the Empire’s acquisition of the Littora system, my fleet - the Void Irregular Fleet - received a distress signal from a merchant fleet indicating they were under attack by Imperial forces. We were at peace with the Littorans and were not to assail their cargo - that is, no piracy.” She replied. “I have all the data at the bridge. The ships involved in the attack, their captains and crew manifests, who they report to - though I have doubts that Admiral Denko would actively attempt to work against the Empire in such a way.” She continued to think more about the circumstances. “Every scrap of evidence has been preserved.”

Finally they would reach the bridge. “Take that datacard out.” She pointed at a datacard in the bridge holoprojector. “It has all the relevant information.”

"Trust me Lord Vantai, if you have nothing to worry us over then you don't have to worry about us." Though not altogether a true statement, having people worry about the Inquisition and being less open to them made their jobs far harder. Keeping up a warm disposition with their targets was an easier way to chase down the truth, wherever it lay.

Jorryn followed silently alongside [member="Vanessa Vantai"] as the pair made their way to the bridge of the ship, listening to all the info that the woman had for her. The ease of this mission was greatly appreciated by the Echani, so often the Lords and Ladies of the Sith demanded individual treatment from the one organization that refused to give it to them.

"We agree about Admiral Denko, though she is ambitious the time I met her she seemed dedicated to the Empire."

The Echani nodded towards one of the bridge members, an obvious signal for him to retrieve the datacard. He quickly fumbled with the projector, pulling the card from it's slot before holding it out for the Inquisitor to grab.

Two fingers wrested it from his grasp quickly as the acolyte slid the datacard in her pocket, the information on the chip would prove useful for the investigation. Whichever moron decided to act in their own interest would soon find themselves with a chain tight around their neck, unless the card had been corrupted. Foul play was never too far out of mind as an Inquisitor.

"With that taken care of, is there anything else you have for us today?"

“I have no reason to actively work against the Empire and the cause of the Sith.” She replied. “Unity and cooperation are key to extinguishing the light and spreading the darkness. I can only hope that Admiral adenoids is not involved.” Vanessa watched as her crew member gave the Sith the datacard. “I have copies. Private copies. If the datacard is for some reason corrupt, I assure you that I can provide you with a duplicate of the data on it. No reason to give the Inquisition anything less.”

The Sith Lord thought for a bit. Was there anything of her experiments that she wished to showcase to the young Inquisitor? “I suppose you might like the opportunity to see some of the superweapons I have been working to develop. Perhaps see what I have been working on here with the Empire’s resources?”

[member="Jorryn Fordyce"]

"I'm sure that will not be necessary, my Lady." The reassurances that extra copies would be provided should the original datacard proved corrupted had eased the natural suspicion that came with the job. "I am sure that this will do the job just fine."

The simple recovery of the chip was enough to satisfy the Inquisition's request, but the offer to have a tour of the superweapons that [member="Vanessa Vantai"] had constructed was an opportunity to supply the Saaraisash's everflowing desire to keep all knowledge of the Empire's workings.

"If you're not too busy." She spoke, letting the intrigue in her voice intentionally slip through.

“I’m never too busy at this point, Jorryn - may I call you Jorryn?” She asked. “The work that has gone into the near ceaseless development of high quality weaponry derived from superweapon technology has been an absolute joy to put in.” Vanessa was willing to let her pride get the better of her - she knew the Inquisitor was, deliberately or unintentionally, prying for information. Considering that deliberate obfuscation of her projects could arouse suspicion that she was planning on splintering off and becoming a warlord, it was best to form ties with someone who could ensure such a rumor would be quelled. Vanessa would not become a warlord until forced to by the Empire’s destruction - something she knew was not anywhere near occurring.

A hand motion was made to Jorryn as she began to walk towards the ship’s main personnel elevator. Vanessa would speak once more as they both stepped aboard the platform, a section of which split off to travel back down to the lower levels. A window was clear enough for the prototype Conquerora-class heavy cruiser to be visible.

“I suppose the first of these designs is right out there. The Conqueror-class Heavy Cruiser. One of five prototypes made, fitted with prototypes of the beam weaponry on this ship. More powerful and more destructive than any other Imperial ship of its size, easily.” She smiled. “Two are with my fleet at all times while the three others remain in reserve. I would always be glad to put at least one on loan to other Imperial naval forces, for use in other conflicts.”
