The Illyrian Military is separated into a myriad of component forces that specialize in a specific type of warfare. The main-support unit of the Illyrian infantry are undeniably the Illyrian Riflemen. Being a part of the Illyrian Rifle Corp is considered a more prestigious position than their brother Skirmishers. Illyrian Riflemen are trained to be calculative, fast moving, and excel at overwhelming their enemies in numbers. Where the Skirmishers attend their War Schooling at FT. Tano in the jungles of Illyria the Riflemen are sent to a eight month course at FT. Kingsaber, in the largest mountain range on Illyria. The first month of enlistment, a Riflemen Candidate goes through a medical inprocessing ensuring they are mentally & physically fit. This inprocessing is a bit more in depth than the Skirmishers, due to the nature of the Illyrian Riflemen who are expected to show a higher degree of "education" in warfare. Following their inprocessing the Riflemen are sent into the mountain range in squads of ten, where they participate in what is essentially a four month long obstacle course. They will maneuver in extremely difficult terrain for months, pairing it with sim-target practice to bring their reaction time and environmental hardening to standard. The last three months involves a familiarization course with the soldier's weaponry and a small hand to hand combat course. "Soldiering skills," that they learn in the last three months are considered less important than the ability to hunt, engage, and destroy the enemy as they are expected to do. These men and woman are given a special inauguration ceremony by a representative of the Illyian Royal Court, sometimes even a member of the royal family.

- Description: The Illyrian Royal Riflemen are the cold and calculating ranged force of the Illyrian Royal Military. A bit less confrontational than the Illyrian Skirmishers they are considered the patient and watchful warriors on the battlefield. They often wear a camouflage bodyglove under their armor and have large rebreather units on their helmets to help their filtration system.

- Combat Function: Incredibly disciplined Ranged infantry who can work in mass numbers or squad-sized teams. They function better as large groups than in small teams or individuals.
- Masters of Distance: The illyrian Riflemen excel at medium to long-ranged combat, though they are not suitable for battlefield ranged warfare (sniping) they are exceptional at engaging a target that is a distance away from them.
- Pride & Honor: Illyrians are prideful people, believing their blood to be superior to any others in the galaxy. That tied into an extreme conditioning towards loyalty to their Monarchy make them a hard people to best in morale. They believe death in service to the King is a just and honorable end. This also helps them remained focus on their goal and strong-willed making them harder to confuse with mental based force tactics.
- Well Supplied: With their advanced armor system and weaponry they breathe of the professional army. They are equipped for long-term combat and are designed to outlast any conventional enemy that stands before them.
- Adaptable: One of the greatest assets of a footsoldier is to be able to quickly and effectively adapt to a situation. Illyrian Riflemen have been ruggedly trained to make the most out of any situation. They are more than capable of quick-reaction tactics against developing circumstances.
- Mobile: The Illyrian infantry are a mobile fighting force. They excel in fluid, fast paced charges when not weighed down by their heavy powershields. They are also notably adept at fighting in extremely hostile terrain.
- Non-Melee: The Illyrian Riflemen are proficient in mid-range combat and work well at long range combat. When engaging an enemy in close-range they are often ill-prepared. They have minor hand to hand combat training but not nearly enough to engage a melee force.
- Teamwork: The Riflemen are exceptional team-based warriors, using no smaller than a ten-man team to execute excruciating damage to enemy lines. However, when tasked with accomplishing tasks as an individual there is a noticeable decline in their effectiveness.
- Borderline Zealotry: Although they hold their loyalty to a government and not a religious order, the pride and prejudice displayed by these soldiers make them prone to prefer death to retreat or routing, which makes them harder to salvage from a well laid trap or situation that may appear to be hopeless. They are particularly stubborn when facing beastial aliens, as they believe themselves to be higher than most sentient soldiers, let alone mindless beasts.
