The base plans for the prefabricated fortress

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Ringovinda Systems
  • Model: IM-456 modular fortress
  • Affiliation: Open-Market
  • Modularity: Yes: hardpoints and vehicle complements can be easily changed
  • Production: Limited (only a handful of planets would need more than one)
  • Material: Durasteel, electronics, Kreelan ERA
SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
  • Great surface-to-orbit firepower
  • Heavy defenses (including but not limited to EMPs)
  • Great garrisoning ability
  • Suitable for deployment in hostile environments
  • Outer catwalk adaptable to the terrain
  • Can scan communications from everywhere in the system
  • Rapid deployment time (3 standard days)
Weaknesses:
  • Inner bastion requires a significant amount of relatively flat land (ca. 30 acres)
  • Exposed communications tower
  • Exposed super-heavy turbolaser turrets
  • The whole assembly requires a feth-ton of cargo space to deliver to a planet (ca. 300,000 tons) unless a ship is specifically stated to have the capability to carry an Imperial prefabricated garrison base or equivalent
  • If the main power generator is sabotaged or otherwise destroyed, the fortress' ability to power its main defensive systems is drastically reduced
  • On most planets, deploying an IM-456 would likely cause the planetary garrison to be centered on that point, making it a prime target for orbital bombardment; as such, destroying an IM-456 would cause the planetside command and control infrastructure to fall apart in most cases
  • Once turrets or the inner bastion takes a hit at a place, a weak spot in the component being hit is created
DESCRIPTION
The IM-456 was first deployed on Kushibah by the Dominion, where its implementation was called Fort Kushiban. It was reverse-engineered from surpluses bought from Rothana Heavy Engineering and the main changes were fivefold: removal of the minefields between the outer catwalk and the inner bastion due to the risks it would pose to the local populations, guard towers were given additional defensive weapons hardpoints, the replacement of the surface-to-orbit emplacements in the inner bastion for more powerful, long-range hardpoints, addition of Kreelan explosive reactive armor on every defensive emplacement and finally the addition of a DSS-02 shield generator, allowing for shielding coverage within a 5-kilometer radius from the inner bastion, protecting it from orbital bombardment. Usually the DSS-02 and the main power generator are built underground so as to reduce the risks stemming from surface and airborne attacks. As its centuries-old cousin, the IM-456 is sold and shipped in modules designed for easy assembly on planets where it is deployed, allowing for rapid deployment: in 3 days' time, a planet can have its very own headquarters and fortress. However, the sheer amount of components requires the IM-456 to be shipped onboard ships that can carry upwards of 300,000 tons of cargo. On ships unable to land on planets, the modules are typically deployed from the hangar bays and brought to the surface using tugs or barges.

The outermost layer of defenses comprises a 10-meter-high death fence, where, at the lowermost level, could severely shock a human-sized organic individual, and at the uppermost level, can even fry a Whiphid or a Wookiee outright. However, the death fence is mostly used as a delaying measure in combat for the crews on the elevated catwalk emplacements to mount a defense. As for the outer catwalk, it can often stretch on for kilometers, with Kushibah turrets equipped with searchlights, electrobinoculars and alarm systems at every 100 meters along the outer catwalk, with a pair along every entrance checkpoint. The distance between the death fence, outer catwalk and inner bastion will vary from an implementation to another but usually the death fence will not exceed 5 kilometers away from the inner bastion due to the necessity of the keeping even the outermost layer of defenses inside the area covered by the shield generator. The inner bastion has space-grade airlocks at each entry point to keep contaminants out, as well as radiation shielding to protect its occupants against radiation.

Due to the sheer size of the complex, only the most strategically important planets to a faction will warrant deploying more than one IM-456 on it. Typically the garrison of an IM-456 will have the following:
  • 5 squadrons of tanks (with a mixture of versions)
  • 3 squadrons of aircraft
  • 2500 infantry
  • 1000 support staff

Hi there, apologies for the wait.

These are the same weaknesses, combine them.

Once deployed on a planet, it remains immobile
This is not a weakness, this is a given; remove it.
