Private I'm Sorry

Lori knelt on the floor of the Void, the nickname for the huge isolation chamber inside of the hidden base that she had built. It's primary purpose was used to house officers of the Eternal Empire within a secret room for questioning. But at the moment Lori was using it for herself. She needed the isolation from everyone and everything.

Weeks ago she had been told of the fate of her Dad WolfMortum WolfMortum . He had been slain in a duel with Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis , a vile Sith Lord that had terrorized their family for years. She had never seen him in person, but his image was well known. Through her Dad's continued efforts to free the Galaxy from tyranny, he had fallen. Would her twin brother Caedyn Arenais suffer the same fate? He was following in their Dad's footsteps afterall.

Lori on the other hand didn't follow anyone's footsteps but her own. She hadn't gone into politics or tea making like her Mom Kay. Nor did she stay with the Mandalorians to fight in their battles at every turn. And of course, she didn't follow in the footsteps of her Dad or twin brother. No. Lori was on her own, taking up her own causes and helping to lead a rebellion against Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe and the Eternal Empire. She was the face of that rebellion and fortunately she had the support of those within and without the Empire itself. It was enough to keep her away from seeking revenge against Prazutis and ending his terror.

Taking a deep breath, Lori let it out slowly. In the darkness and silence that was the Void, the sound of her breath seemed to be engulfed and snuffed out. She wondered if this was what death felt like. It was peaceful, yet there was a vast nothingness that made her feel disconnected from everything.

Lori reached out with the Force, tapping into it and searching for any trace of her Dad. Whether or not he had become one with the Force after he was slain, she didn't know. Nor did she know at all if she could even reach him. Yet she wanted to. She had to.

<Oh Dad, I'm so sorry...I didn't even get to say goodbye. The last time that I saw you...I was angry. The Jedi-Mandalorian war was going on and I stayed out of it, just as I promised. But I ended up staying away from you too. I'm sorry that I'm too stubborn. I'm sorry that I didn't stay with you as your student. I'm just...I'm sorry to have not grown up into something that you could be proud of.> She shut her eyes tight as her tears began to fall. She didn't have the control over her emotions like Caedyn did. <I miss you Dad...And I'm so sorry.>

Lori wiped at her tears, glad that no one could see her display. She was alone in the dark. And that didn't make her feel uncomfortable at all. Perhaps that was why she lived on her little ship, instead of having a proper home like everyone else.

There was less to lose.

There was only silence in the dark. Lori half expected to see WolfMortum WolfMortum appear, but that was just silly. He was gone and nothing could bring him back.

Alone in the Void, her tears wouldn't stop falling. Her grief just wouldn't go away and Lori found that terribly frustrating. She didn't know what to do about it. The frustration just grew and grew inside of her until she finally screamed at the top of herungs, her voice not echoing in the Void as one might expect, but it was entirely engulfed by it.

Lori lay on her back on the carpeted floor, the long section being the only hint of a trail that led people to the different sections of the Void. Her eyes were open, yet that didn't matter. There was only darkness. The only light was what she could produce. But just didn't feel like doing such a thing right now. The darkness was a great place to hide.

The Galaxy was full of it. Only pockets of light remained. Or maybe there was more of it that was hiding like she was. It was hard to tell, but she'd find them some day. Or at least read about them on the holonews. Her Dad's legacy might not live with her, but it was sure to do so with others. And that at least gave her some hope for the future.
