  • Affiliation: Empire of the Lost

(www.midjourney.com, prompted by me and edited in paintshop)
  • Description: A force of privateers and mercenaries who have achieved trusted status with the Empire
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: These forces have a rally point on Voss, where they are assembled and briefed for engagements, and quartered as needed.
  • Goals: These are contractors who work for the Empire in exchange for money and prestige.
  • Reputation: The Auxilia, despite being a 'trusted' force of outsiders, is nonetheless viewed with subtle suspicion and scorn by some in the Empire who see the incorporation of 'alien riffraff' to be antithetical to the spirit of the Empire. However, the achievement of such trusted status is rare enough to increase their reputation in circles where privateers and mercenaries are valued. They see themselves as possessing the best status a contractor can achieve: Status and rank within a nation, with the freedom to do as they wish as long as it does not conflict with their employer.
COMPOSITION INFORMATION
  • Army Size: Medium
  • Composition: Privateering Corvette and Frigate Captains, Starfighter pilots, and mismatched ground troops with a broad variety of species, methods, and arms.
MEMBERS
At their inception, the Auxilia are under the direction of Lord Moff Maldor Mecetti. But he is only the director of the division, and not an actual member.
Their ranks run as follows:
Corporal [Lowest] (Paid 10,000 credits monthly)
Sergeant (Paid 20,000 credits monthly)
Lieutenant (Paid 40,000 credits monthly)
Captain (Paid 45,000 credits monthly)
Major [Highest] (Paid 50,000 credits monthly)

Yol Kan, a member of the Auxilia, carries the rank of Major within the organization.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Maldor Mecetti created the Auxilia under Imperial remit after a costly engagement at Tion. The Emperor saw value in incorporating trusted talent into an auxiliary fighting force that could be brought in to bulk numbers in critical engagements or seize objectives for which mainline forces could not be spared. While still viewed somewhat as 'outsiders' due to the fact that they are mostly not Imperial citizens, and did not go through proper Imperial training and indoctrination, it is hoped that they will bring an additional (perhaps expendable) wing to accomplish Imperial ambitions and protect Imperial interests.

The Auxilia are on rotating month-to-month contracts, meaning the force can be enlarged or reduced as needed. While the Auxilia are paid well for their services, they are also responsible for purchasing their own equipment, and thus place minimal toll on Imperial logistics. At best, they may quarter in Imperial housing temporarily or utilize Imperial repair and hospital facilities once all regular forces' needs have been met. Auxilia are allowed to keep loot taken from enemies on the field of battle, so long as taking it does not interfere with their assigned missions. They are granted provisional ranks within the Imperial armed forces for the duration of their contracts, but receive no pension and hold no seniority against regular Imperial officers of equal rank. While they remain in good standing with the Empire, they may purchase Imperial equipment from Empire-affiliated vendors.

Also for clarification as some of the composition could be navy, is the intent for this to be all one army that has an air corps with it?

Thanks!
Hello, and thank you for this review.
We can imagine people like the Mandalorians from the hit holovid series, the Mandalorian. Only without the monoculture.
They had starfighters and intermediate sized ships, but they were trained for ground combat.
Usually, the ships were just a means to get them where they were going.
Sometimes, they engaged in aerial or space battles.
Often the same individuals performed both roles as needed.
Sometimes people might specialize in one thing or another.
Because it's an ad-hoc collection of mercs and privateers, uniform and consistent roles may not be appropriate.
