OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To Create an Abandoned and Haunted Shipyard
  • Canon: N/A

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyards Name: Imperial Designation - 567: Dathomir Shipyards
  • Classification: Deep-dock
  • Location: M'un'rior Bog / Dathomir
  • Affiliation: The Galactic Empire (Formerly) / The Nardithi Nightsister Coven (unofficially)
  • Population: Insignificantly Staffed
  • Accessibility: The shipyards are very accessible through aerial measures, but it is more hazardous through the ground. The latter for the landscape in which the shipyard is sprawled; surrounded by swamps and bogs, unofficially defended by the various predators stalking the topography around the yards. Also, the shipyards are on the Nardithi Nightsister Coven's territory, who protect their lands savagely.
  • Description: The shipyards were designed like many of the Empire's schematic facilities. Not quite cookie cutter, but the slight differences from this shipyard compared to other Imperial yards is how it was built to sustain the hostile and harsh climate of Dathomir.
OPERATIONS INFORMATION
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Ship Factories: There are several hundred shipping facilities inside the shipyard for quickly manufacturing the starfighters and specialty bombers. Each factory possesses at least up to ten berths in which to fabricate the product.
  • Salvage Yard: A massive yard for left over materials or ruined products littered about the salvage yard; with the idea of repurposing the materials through the smelter.
  • Smelter Facility: An enormous smelting facility lies next to the salvage yard. The smelter is responsible for both breaking down raw materials into useable materials, as well as melt down old materials to be repurposed into workable materials.
  • Storing Facilities: There are eighteen storing facilities within the shipyards, for storing raw materials and other products required to build the space vessels; along with storying the finished product until ready for retrieval or transportation.
  • Testing Facility and Site: Slightly off site of the shipyard is the testing facility and site. As the name implies, it's for testing the starships before being pressed into service.
  • Automated Turret Control Room: The entire turret system is controlled from this room specifically.
  • Transportation Rail System: All around the shipyard, and through most of the inner areas is a suspended transportation rail system. Its main purpose is to easily transport around heavy materials, bulk sized materials, and other associated parts.
  • Research and Development Center: This is where the engineers tinker with the designs and to come up with new concepts.

SECURITY

High

The security of the shipyards fell to the responsibility of the stormtrooper corps assigned here. When the shipyards were functional, there was at least five-six stormtrooper battle corps in place. As well as the flesh soldiers, the entire shipyard, inside and around the outside, was defended by several patrolling All Terrain Defense Turret (AT-DT) as well as several strategically placed Automated Air Defense Towers and hundreds of Autoturrets. With no Imperial presence, the shipyards are void of both the ground soldiers and the AT-DTs, but the defense towers and autoturrets remain, yet they sit completely offline.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The original idea of the shipyards came during the Clones Wars by the CIS, and soon after the Battle of Dathomir the groundwork for the shipyard was laid. The earliest construction began toward the end of the Clone Wars, and once the Galactic Empire came into power; they completed the shipyards. The shipyards were designated for TIE starfighter fabrication with the specialty of the shipyard being the EX1-8 Tactical Bombers.

During the
Rebellion Era, the shipyards twice came under attack by Rebel forces; both times the rebels were turned away. However, with the growing strength of the Rebellion, and the Empire forced to consolidate assets after the Battle of Endor, the shipyard began to be cleared out; eventually abandoned in total. The Imperials took all they could, leaving remnants of a once powerful Empire in their wake.

Over the centuries, the shipyard became home, on occasion, to pirates, smugglers, and other vagrants escaping the eyes of authority. However, with the arrival of these groups from time to time, also came predators like bull rancors in search for a cheap and easy meal. Now the shipyard is a shell of its former self, derelict and defunct whilst inhabited by overgrowth and mixed with roving bands of
Damhán and haunted by Creeping Ghouls, the latter preying on those foolish enough to seek refuge within the shipyard.
