Maldor Mecetti
Darth Trigonus
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Monitors circuits via electromagnetic induction and cuts a circuit if two units report new duplicating code in adjacent chipsets.
- Can cut a circuit if it is compromised by a virus.
- The cut circuit becomes inactive - while this may prevent spread of the virus, it certainly disables the immediately affected system.
Upon losing a star destroyer to code infiltration in the Battle of Bastion, an immediate call went out for a new anti-virus technology that could be installed in Imperial devices to avoid similar losses in the future. Members of the 'exiled' community of House Mecetti Nationalized Industries operating on Voss quickly came up with a solution: They created a droid logic circuit that could be placed atop of critical chipsets, monitoring their activity by induction without actually being tied into the circuit. If two units report the presence of code being replicated across the network- as in the case of a computer virus- they detonate a one-gram micro-explosive to obliterate the circuit's continuity. This prevents the further spread of code and stops a virus in its tracks. It does have the unfortunate effect of disabling the systems already infected, but this was deemed preferable to losing an entire vehicle, base, or starship to a viral attack. Easy to design and easy to implement, the Imperial Failsafe Circuit is expected to see widespread implementation within one of the Battle of Bastion.
