OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To codify something that I’ve been meaning to do, they were initially the Praetorian Guard. I never got around to them due to my time at university, where I’ve been immersed in Ottoman Empire history for the past... nine weeks? Anyway finally got back around to this as they represent the changes occurring within the Commonwealth.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
  • Headquarters: Qosantyra, Dosuun
  • Domain: The Imperial Guard serves as the elite protective force of the Imperial Commonwealth, with influence and presence in nearly every sector and region under the Commonwealth’s control. Their operations extend from the heart of the Home Sector, where they maintain key facilities and training academies, to the Aetos Sector and Kaldwin Sector, where their forces act as a stabilizing presence on volatile planets and border territories.

While the Guard primarily operates out of the home worlds, where the political and economic power of the Commonwealth is concentrated, they maintain bases and garrisons in strategic cities and colonies across the Commonwealth. HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Imperial Guard traces its origins back to the nascent days of the First Order, a time marked by ambition and a desire for unity among the stars. Founded in the wake of the Order’s rise to power, the program aimed to cultivate a generation of loyal soldiers from a young age, ensuring they were instilled with the ideals of the state. Children, often orphans or wards of the state, were taken from their homes and raised in strict, militarized environments designed to forge them into devoted protectors of the First Order.

During the First Order's early years, these young recruits were trained as elite soldiers, initially intended to serve as Stormtroopers or members of the Praetorian Guard. The indoctrination was thorough, encompassing combat training, loyalty oaths, and lessons in the political and military ideology of the First Order. The result was a new generation of highly skilled warriors prepared to defend the regime at all costs.

However, as the First Order faced escalating conflicts and eventually fell from grace, the formal training programs for these children were believed to have ended. Unbeknownst to many, remnants of the program continued under the guise of various government initiatives aimed at preserving the First Order’s legacy during its darkest days. The ascendance of Ariel Yvarro marked a turning point for these young recruits. Recognizing the potential of this hidden cadre of warriors, she sought to revitalize their purpose and leverage their loyalty to strengthen her position in a chaotic galaxy.

Ariel's regime saw the recruits not only as soldiers but also as potential enforcers of her will, adapting the program to align with her vision for the First Order’s resurgence. Yet, when her rule ultimately fell, the fate of the program once again became shrouded in secrecy, leaving the recruits in limbo.

It was only when Ivalyn Yvarro assumed her role as Grand Vizier that the Imperial Guard was brought back into the light. Recognizing the strategic advantage of utilizing this dedicated force, she officially reorganized and rebranded them as the Imperial Guard. No longer merely shadows of the past, they were now a formidable presence in the Imperium, charged with upholding the law and protecting the Commonwealth’s interests.

Under Ivalyn’s leadership, the Imperial Guard evolved into a multifaceted organization, encompassing various branches that catered to different aspects of governance and security. Their deep-rooted training and unwavering loyalty became the bedrock of their new identity, allowing them to transition from the ghosts of a fallen regime to the stalwart defenders of a new order. The Imperial Guard stands today as a testament to resilience, loyalty, and the enduring spirit of those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the Imperium.
