Okay folks, we've been part of the Fringe for a few weeks and some of us have been on one variety of LOA or another, but the question now is where do we go from here?

The Fringe are pretty awesome folks, and I like working with them, but even as a member state I feel that the Empire needs to be The Empire and act on its own initiative now and then, at least ICly.

What's this mean? It means we need to get our heads together and do some dominions again. We need to continue our own faction plots in parallel to the Fringe plots. We need to get the Inquisition active and spying/assassinating again.

In short, we need to make sure that we didn't save the faction only to lose it. Being part of the Fringe gives us a lot of resources and opportunities. We need to take advantage of them, but make sure that the ways we support the Confederation also support the Empire. Let's get some big plots out there. Let's make ourselves an important, but autonomous, part of Fringe space.

Naamah is off the active list. Moira, though not a member, is still very active and would've kept some ties.

I think a dominion headed mostly by the Empire expanding Imperial interests within the Fringe would make a lot of sense, as well as some internal stuff with just TGE members.

Obviously like my LOA said with the move and new job my time is a lot more limited than before, if I'm not available ICly Mirien is second in command.

I am also totally willing to dust off Masaru to play pragmatic statesman/crime boss if there's enough interest in continuing.

'This group will continue calling itself 'Galactic Empire'? No offence meant, but it's even less 'galactic' than it used to be, what with territory in the unknown regions being lost due to the merger, and it's no longer a sovereign nation, but subordinate to Fringe.

I'd actually have preferred to have kept Atrisian Empire regardless, honestly. As far as being subordinate to the Fringe, well... no more so than any of the other kingdoms or empires that make up its member states.

While Atrisia might aspire to be the inheritor of the Galactic Empire's traditions and restore its glory...it has not exactly lived up to that. Certainly not expanded at the rate to warrant being seen as anything more than one of many claimants (of which there have been many). Moreover, it had to agree to be assimilated by another great power to survive imminent invasion. Continuing to claim being the Galactic Empire does not seem a marketing advantage.

As for being no more subordinate to Fringe than the others, yes. And TGE/AE did bring lots of shiny tech...but it was a bit sad to see the Dominion of the Hebrides be a total Fringe venture (with the exception of Soma/Antera). Course Sio/Moira had fun slaughtering Bando Gora again.

As for stuff to do, technically there's still the Klaxxi storyline. Their homeworld hasn't been occupied yet after all and they're fun to fight Probably fun to dissect as well. Of course TGE's record when it comes to Dominions has not been the best.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious there have been problems and false starts along the way. Not gonna disagree there. Mistakes were made, people came and went, badly timed LOAs, etc. etc.

However, regardless of what the faction calls itself and regardless of what's occurred in the last couple weeks, I do feel that this could still be something here on SWRP. Whether a minor part of the Fringe or a major standing on its own, we put work into this faction and ultimately the point here is to not let the whole thing die. We can still have something going with Atrisia, whether it's as TGE or AE or whatever. We just have to all decide it's worth writing about.

Indeed. We can agree on that. Well, need to see who's still around and down for doing stuff.

For the right price Firemane (the corp of which Siobhan is 2iC) has some shiny weapons to sell and mercs to hire out for say fighting Klaxxi.

I'd like to point out in canon the Galactic Empire always called itself Galactic Empire. Imperial Remnant was only used outside the Empire, and Fel Empire is a term fans came up with. The Empire has also joined two separate united governments, so it's not out of character to continue calling itself the Galactic Empire while a member of a confederation. Rather it'd be stranger to start calling itself Atrisian Empire again.

Regarding the Remnant calling itself the Galactic Empire despite only controlling a few backwater sectors, I'm reminded of how the Byzantines of 1261 still insisted on being the Roman Empire. Hell, they still did that in 1453 when the Ottomans were at the gates of Constantinople. Regardless, if the name is desired, by all means. I honestly view the matter dispassionately either way.

Particularly true since we couldn't even hold our own homeworld in the absence of the Fringe's assistance...

In any case if the group is going to get active that's swell. Moira/Sio aren't members, but they'd get active where it makes sense from an IC perspective for them, as both are with their own corps.

With Akio and Mirien still getting moved in, not much for at least a bit longer. I'd still like to see something happen with the faction and will be more than happy to devote effort to it so long as people are interested.

Akio and I are still getting settled, still getting stuff moved from storage to here. Life has been hell between hospital stays and a violent stalker, a mess is an understatement.

However we do have internet back in order. But Akio is working 52+ hours just this week alone, so he is often just too tired to post. All this being said, it is what it is. We both are still extremely busy dealing with the aftermath of things that happened in the last few weeks and yeah... It's just been insane.


Need to start finding out who really wants to keep on playing in TGE, and get them interested and reading this forum again. Then we can see what we have to work with and what stories we can do.
