DESCRIPTION
The Imperial Sovereign Armor has been specially made for Sovereign Protectors, elite members of the Royal Guard of the Imperial Confederation. With a focus on vital area plating utilizing phrik, durable combat suit materials, and systems to assist with sensory and rapid healing the Sovereign armor is well-suited for a range of tasks. While not hermetically sealed, the materials used offer general environment protection, combined with an anti-corrosive coating, as well as anti-sonic damaging components. Due to the limitation of layers, there remains a weakness to EMP/ion effects, which can drastically affect the helmet systems, forcing shutdown and requiring time to reboot.
Due to the importance of mobility in combat, the Sovereign armor has focused on vital plating to the upper body, while having no plating on the lower body. This allows the guardsmen a balance of protection and agility, suited to their combat needs, even though the lack of armor plating on the legs is not ideal. The offset is that, due to the segmented nature of the plating across the body, the armor itself falls into a weight range comparable to medium armor.
When combined with the thick cloak, which adds additional blaster and vibro resistances, the Sovereign armor provides a good balance of protection for the wearer. Additionally, both phrik gauntlets are housed with accessories, such as a light-shield (left) and integrated datapad (right). There is also an integrated biorestorative underlay in the combat suit, which provides the wearer's body with bio-bacta sources to injured areas for immediate - and increased - field healing. Though, the armor can only contain so much bio-bacta, so liberal use of the liquid is not recommended.
All in all, the Sovereign armor has been created to provide a multipurpose role for the Sovereign Protectors, affording them protection to perform their wide range of duties and responsibilities, with minimal need for equipment changing or additional items.
Strengths:
- Strong Plating: Phrik armor plating over vital areas of the upper body provides excellent protection from most sources of direct attack.
- Power Packing: Integrated power supply allows for computer-assisted HUD elements and targeting.
- High-Tech: An array of helmet data and systems for enhanced battlefield application and capability.
- Corrosion Be Gone: The anti-corrosion coating is composed of ferrocarbon, which allows the armor to withstand very strong corrosive effects from various sources.
- Improved Healing: Having an integrated biorestorative underlay means more immediate applications of bio-bacta to injured areas, offering faster tissue and muscle restoration, when activated.
- Sonic Sources: Due to both sonic dampeners and nullifiers, the suit has a good sonic resistance.
- Weight Balance: Because of the heavier armor on the upper body, but the lessened armor on the lower body, this has resulted in a balance of protection with mobility, effectively becoming medium armor in terms of overall weight and movement restriction.
- Resistant Not Impervious: Even phrik plate can be damaged from repeated strikes to the same location, such as lightsaber attacks, so regulation of damage dispersion is prudent.
- High Caliber: The armor is still vulnerable to high caliber slugthrower rounds, such as armor piercing types, which can crack and damage the phrik plating, lessening its effectiveness until repaired out of battle.
- Heavy Repeaters: Despite phrik plating, the armor is vulnerable to heavy repeaters, and sustained fire should be avoided.
- Segmented Armor: Due to the focus of phrik plating on the upper body, the lower body remains far more vulnerable to attack due to balancing protection with mobility.
- Gel Breakdown: Excessive repeated kinetic damage can result in the bonded thermal gel layer breaking down, and lessens overall resistances it otherwise adds; this is impossible to replace during combat, and must be done so outside of battle to be functional again.
- Bio-Bacta Supply: There is a finite supply of bio-bacta in the suit, meaning excessive injury will deplete it, requiring refill out of combat.
- Delicate Systems: The helmet systems are vulnerable to strong EMP and Ion damage, which would disrupt the functionality for a several minutes until they could restart.
