Name: IN-M8, Bar-bot, Master of the Asylum, Walking smart-aleck, "Matey" to his regulars
Loyalties: He pays his taxes, and is the owner and lead proprietor of the Asylum Cantina and Dive, in Freehold, the Heaven's Road Bridge.
Role: Punk-rock robot bartender, who'll happily go fourth degree on your behind if you need a lesson in manners.
Development Threads:
Age: Seven Months
Species: Intinerant labor droid
Force Sensitivity: That'd be hilarious, but no.
Appearance: As shown in the picture, Matey wears a stylish bar-keep suit with the sleeves ripped off and a Anarchy symbol on the back. This style was perfected by the first band he booked at the bar.
Personality: Asylum is strange little bar, and it has a barkeeper to match. Matey's has somehow managed to work "Affable" and "caustic wit" into one personality, and he keeps getting customers to come back. He's a brilliant drink-maker, a decent businessman, and severely protective of his bar. In the greater political scheme of things, he pays only a small mind to the Temple or other affairs in Freehold. Asylum has very few rules, but the mains ones are "everybody's equal, droid, organic, whatever," and "no tabs on the first night you come in, sorry," making his a fairly shrewd but simple approach to things. His artisanal focus is actually on drink making itself, and he's one of the best there is at it. On top of this, his skill at
Weapon of Choice: He has a built-in lighter on one of his hardpoints, as shown in the picture. If things get hairy, he keeps a shotgun behind the bar. Mostly, he uses his other hard points for attaching hoses of seltzer water and other quick-pouring bar components. He's also got a detachable a drink stirrer. He also upgraded his olfactory senses at some point, but nobody knows how or why.
Wealth: The Asylum is a reasonably successful Cantina and dive bar in a post-industrial trade town of over 100,000. He's doing alright for money, but not like, Arceneau rich or anything.
Combat Function: He's really not programmed for it. In terms of skill, he knows how to break up a brawl decently, but he chiefly relies on his durability to keep people from causing too much trouble. He is an okay shot with his shotgun, and he's better at being scary than actually hurting people. He also throws a mean left hook--these actuators ain't just for lifting kegs, boy!
Skills: The best drink-maker on the planet, if not the whole damn sector. Competent, but laid-back manager. Speaks Huttese, Basic, Binary, Baobab Prime,
Notable Possessions: He owns a bar, and a small swoop bike he rides around in on his days off.
Other Notes:
Matey's kind of a smart aleck. After his manumission alongside the other itinerant types, he trained with a Docent-class in the bazaar, learnign the art of small business management while taking odd jobs around the city. Eventually, he found his knack while hanging out with a band he was attempting to manage. They went to a bar, and next thing he knew, he was mixing drinks, like a pro. He worked for the little dive three days a week, saving his money, and eventually set aside enough in tips to buy a small plot on Heaven's Road--Five-oh was having a hard time finding people who preferred the location to renting inside the place.
Nowadays, the Asylum and the IN-M8 running it are both the most popular watering whole and longest running joke in the droid city. Matey runs his bar like he runs his life--carefully, but with a sense of humor and a weirdly amicable curmudgeonliness. Also, the Martinis are amazing.
Five-oh himself and some of the other priests will occasionally visit, stop in for a mobile power unit and shoot the poodoo with the other customers, droid and organic alike. The bar also sells a few kinds of hardware maintenance, making the bar a go-to spot for droids doing their last preps before leaving town.
Intent: Adding some more fluff to Freehold. Probably gonna submit the bar later this week. City-building is fun. Also, yes, the crappy pun was half the reason.
