SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Segmented Body - The Crawler droid is designed with segmented parts.

  • Burrowing Claws - At the forefront of the Crawler droid, just below its Beam Cannon mount, are a set of powerful claws. These claws were designed specifically to aid the battledroid is burrowing beneath enemy formations so that it could potentially burst up in the middle of an enemy force or strike it from behind.

Strengths:
  • Segmented Body - The Crawler droid is designed with a series of segmented body parts. This ensures that should one of these sections become damaged or otherwise destroyed, the droid can still attach to the remaining sections and continue with its programmed task.

  • Burrowing Claws - Sitting just behind its Beam Cannon weapon mount, the Crawler droid has a set of reinforced claws that permit it to burrow. This can be used so that the droid can burrow beneath enemy forces (and in turn either explode up from beneath them or strike from behind).

Weaknesses:
  • Segmented Body - While it is the Crawler's greatest strength, it is also its most exploitable weakness. While it can detach and reattach to various sections, this can also leave it vulnerable. While it is reattaching segments, it is incapable of utilizing its primary and only weapon (the beam cannon). This can further be exploited by the continued damaging and destruction of additional segments to otherwise bog down the droid and prevent it from becoming operational once more.

  • Exposed Power Cell - The energy requirements of these droids is so great (coupled with its segmented capabilities) that it is incapable of keeping a single power source hidden within its structure. Resting about half way down its back, is a large (and movable) power pack. However this leave it exposed, meaning that a well place shot from an artillery piece could potentially cause the droid to go up in flames.

DESCRIPTION

Any true Incursion begins from within, not without. Thus with that thinking in mind, the Crawler Battledroid was designed to provide such that tactical thought. Capable of burrowing beneath enemy forces and fortifications, it can leave tunnels in its wake to move additional forces, or otherwise use them to sabotage structures above.

However while the Crawler Droid is designed for such a purpose, its capabilities are still not as such to make it invulnerable. For instance, its greatest weakness is also its greatest strength; in way of its segmented construction and capability to attach and detach damaged or destroyed segments. However during this process, all other systems are either set to limited function or shut off, leaving it vulnerable.

Additionally, if one was so apt with special weapons (or artillery pieces) a strike to its back mounted power pack would leave the droid nothing more than a smoldering wreck. Though even with these weaknesses, they still do not overshadow its usefulness as a true tool of incursion within an enemy's force.
