Infinite in Distance, Unbound by Death

The black and red-clad form of Rena Kryze managed to make her way through the halls of the clan's meeting hall on Mandalore, where the business of Mand'alor and his aliit'buir would take place. Why was she here? To requisition some supplies and meet some new people, so she could get back on the business of working on her not-sucky beskar'gam. Every good Mandalorian needed their own personal armour and, while nice, her current set wasn't exactly built for her. She wanted to make one relevant to her.

There were rumours flying around, of course. Apparently, one [member="Pyrrha Nikkita"] was enquiring to interest parties about jetpack-willing people who were looking for a new challenge. In the meantime, Rena herself wanted to work with some jetpack-capable people to test out her designs. Needless to say their interests dovetailed nicely.

Rena had just finished loading her new weapons from the wonderful MandalTech onto her ship parked in a hangar bay when her datapad beeped. Apparently Miss Nikkita was planetside at that moment. So, she got a hold of her frequency, because moonlighting as a quartermaster was awesome like that, and then she did the only logical thing:

Pyrrha Nikkita, su'cuy. I'm Rena Kryze. Word has it you're interest in jetpack troops - care to explain it to me? Docking bay 32.

Taking a look at the time, I just stared at it. Not really paying attention as the shuttle touched down. I adjusted my belt that a Beskad hung from, as well as a MT-14 blaster pistol. I had what was needed, and it was currently behind me on a carrier for a meeting I had with some jumper troops. There was no offical troop setting, However, a group of them had gotten together to try and make better jetpacks. One of these Mandos was a woman who I was meeting today. No clue when but as I turned around to usher the man pushing the hovering cart that carried a unopened box, My mobile rang in the simple tones of a call.

Picking it up, I looked at the screen. Answering it with a rush of a woman's voice, asking that since I was interested, that I should come to Docking bay 32. I smiled as we were at docking bay 27, so it was not that short of a walk. Nodding my head, "In route. At bay 27. Should be there in a few." I didn't wait for a responce before hanging up and then ushering the man to move faster. "Move faster, but carefully. I don't want it to break."

It was about two minutes later that we came to the doors, and after explaining who I was to the man outside, I was allowed in Walking in, I saw the mixes of red, brown, black, and bronze armor. While I was not wearing mine for a reason, I had to hand it to the Mando's, they made nice armor. "Hello, are you Rena?" I smiled as I stood there in my uniform.

And then suddenly Lightning.

"I am," answered the Initiate, who was pretty well a scrubby little quartermaster when it came to dealing with the Mando'ade. She, too, was loading her ship with supplies, except it was just her, with her little red and black astromech (that ironically matched her armour) overseeing the operation as she stacked up her brand-new vessel. She needed ways to get around, after all.

Surprisingly, her new friend carried the same weapons she did - but only one of them, not two. Rena carried two beskade and two pistols, because of her innate talent of dual-wielding.

"Hi," Rena said (probably rather unhelpfully). "I was told you were one of the people to go to about jetpacks. As it happens I'm building a prototype jetpack for myself and I was wondering if you could help me tune it or offer input or something relevant, anyways."

I smiled as the woman clad in armor turned around. I left the man behind as he was trying to find a way to get the hovering carrier with the box on it past the doors into the place. They were built for low speeders. Not a full on set of Jet pack parts, and even a new toy I bought. I smiled as she mentioned that she was building a Jet pack for her self to be more reliable. As all Beskar'gam was unique, she wanted a jetpack to match. I respected that.

"Yeah. Mostly becuase I have the funds to make them, and I know enough to get by."

I smiled lightly as the question of helping her would work in turn for extras of the same deal. I nodded my head. "I don't see how that is not a fair trade."
I walked towards her as I heard a clunk. Stopping and turning to see the young man tilting the box to move it past the door, he finally got through and the clunk was it hitting flat agianst the surface of the carrier. "Yes, as well, I found a new toy that may be benifical." I motioned towards the large boxes. "Do you mind?"

"Not a problem. Bring it on board and we'll take a look at it," the Mandalorian said, motioning to the ship behind her. The freighter in question was a MandalMotors Crux-class ship, that actually didn't have a name yet - mostly because Rena hadn't come up with anything interesting. She'd probably name it at some point.

The cargo ramp was lowered enough so that the stuff could be brought on board, which the jetpack hopeful was happy to help carry to the workshop turned armoury, which was lined with guns. A lot of guns. Well, okay, not a lot yet - becasue she'd only just off-loaded six or seven from MandalTech - but that'd be remedied soon once she ordered more from other places. It would inevitably happen.

In the meantime, the little room was lit only by a single overhead light, which Rena flicked on - under the glow-panel, the workbench was clean and ready for use. Over on another side bench, half of a beskar'gam could clearly be seen, identical to the one she was wearing - but lighter, by the looks. Next to it sat a backpack-type jetpack with four thrust nacelles, half-built. It was certainly different to the repulsorpack concept. All four of the thrust nacelles were built onto turreted mounts - and that was as far as the idea had gotten.

"So, tell me about yours first. You're the expert," Rena said, motioning to the table for Pyrrha to get to work.

Walking up the ramp, my boots seemed to thunder as I followed the beskar clad female. Rena turned on the light while I combed a hand through my pink hair. Not dyed, but natural because of my Zeltron half. Thank you daddy. I took a look around, seeing the ship from inside as well as the single light within the room. I smiled as I motioned for the man to come in. he stopped at the door and waited. Turning to my 'sister' I spoke, "Don't freak out when I do this." I turned and flicked my hand out, and within a few seconds, the box had been taken apart, and all the pieces and parts inside started to fly around. Landing on the table, as well as the floating cargo carrier to be spread out for both of us to see.

But what remained was a smaller box. Moving it with the force to the center of the room, the pannels broke off and inside were a set of metal boots, and gauntlets that looks more like the skeleton for a HRD. And with a smile, I stepped into the parts.

The pieces moved around and connected themselves to me, and within a second, I could hear the wine of the repulsorlifts activating. "This little toy here is called a Raxorhawk. it allows movement much like a jetpack, without all the extra weight that would be placed on your back." I let my arms down to my sides, while my right hand was clenching and unclenching. Letting the metalic clink sounds of my fingers coming together and coming apart come to my ears. "Now, I have never used one, but I ordered it as per an idea to use these for the Mando'ade. Having these on every set of mobile beskar'gam would make us a formitable group. Now, don't get me wrong, it would take time and practice for people to use these, However, to do that, We need to learn how to use them first."

Walking forwards, my boots sound even heavier as though I just gained an extra 20 kgs. When in fact I did not. "I know the theories behind rockets, but not actually using them. So, with you, I hope to plan for us to work together on making both your version of the jetpack, as well as my own system, function."

I smiled and whipped my hair back away from my face. "Sounds good to you?"

For everything that she'd already seen, this was Rena's first real experience with the Force. She'd learned plenty about the jetii and dar'jetii and siit, of course - who didn't grow up with their tales as a good little Mandobaby? However, seeing things move of their own accord was a very different, but nonetheless welcome experience. Seeing it in action, how easily Pyrrha manipulated it, would prepare her for future encounters with it. Well, that was definitely a good start to her career.

However, this was new. This was different. Something she'd never seen before - hand and foot repulsors that afforded a similar sort of mobility that a jetpack did. Unfortunately, there were some problems with that that Rena could immediately see.

"You halve your mobility by needing to use hand-repulsors - and not all of us can summon invisible beams of energy to do our work. Most Mando'ade require blasters, vod. I like the idea, though."

She looked at the pieces of the Razorhawk before her, considering and contemplating ideas. "It's not a bad idea, though. It's sort of similar to mine in that you can independently direct what way the repulsors face."

Rena turned and looked for a moment. "Could we condense this down? Tiny backpack and repulsors built into the calves? Same principle with mid-air maneuverability, but you retain your hands."

I looked at her with the same ideas. I knew this could limit the use of weapons, And I shook my head a little. Answering her statement of not being able to use your hands to hold a blaster or something. "No I completely agree it would be harder to do such a thing, However, alot of the armors around here have wrist attachemts. The same can be done here." While I spoke, I pulled my blaster from my hands and placed it on the side of the arm to show "mounted" as I was really just getting an idea for myself.

"There are just endless ways to mount things onto your gauntlets." I smiled and nodded to my sister, "Yes, the smaller thrusters on the back of the legs would work, but before we do that, we might want to figure out how this works first. I don't want to expierment on the setting of rockets on calfs, when we are only talking theories."

I smiled a very large grin, "And because I want to play around with this."

[member="Rena Kryze"]

"But wouldn't that, just put all your thrust facing down, or something?" Rena asked, trying to look at the placement of the thrusters. "Wrists would mean down-facing, and then you'd be trying to boost straight up trying to aim properly. It just seems like an awkward setup."

Rena wasn't sure. It seemed like a weird idea to put thrusters on hands when you were trying to keep yourself armed; things would need to be totally re-done in turn to make this work. Maybe there was a way to do it, but the quartermaster was nto convinced. Oh well.

The whole setup still looked hella fun.

"How about you go up in that," Rena proposed with a grin behind her helmet-- evident in her voice, though-- "and we'll get some speed and atmospheric data from it?"
