COMBAT INFORMATION
- Availability: Unique
- Deployment: Limited
- Strengths & Weaknesses:
(+) Commandos: Members of Inferno Squadron are by all definition fully certified commandos. They are more elite, experienced, and better armed than an average Imperial stormtrooper, making them a deadly enemy to face on the battlefield. - (+) Pilots: Coupled with being ground commandos, Inferno Squadron is first and foremost an elite TIE squadron. Having gone through rigorous flight training and flying in specialized TIE/LN Starfighters equipped with the rare deflector shields and life support systems.
- (|) Multi-Role: The saying goes 'jack of all trades, master of none'. Inferno Squad, being trained for both piloting and ground operations, they are equally good at them but not as much as a special force specialized in said aspect, such as death troopers or Imperial aces.
- (-) Expensive: Even without the cost of arming Inferno squadron with their equipment and vehicles, it is expensive enough to train even one of these legendary special forces agents. Not to mention the bill if the entire squad was wiped out during a battle.
- (-) Cocky: Due to their 'expertise' and status as Imperial Special Forces, members of Inferno Squadron tend to become cocky and arrogant as a result, ending in the untimely death of several previous members, requiring the training and arming of another Inferno agent.
[*]Description: Initially commissioned by the Imperial Navy after the disastrous Imperial defeat and concurrent destruction of the First Death Star at the Battle of Yavin, Inferno Squadron was charged with infiltrating and exterminating the Partisans, who were a Rebel extremist group that continued to exist even after the death of their leader, Saw Gerrera, during the weapons test of the Death Star on the moon of Jedha
Inferno squadron achieved fame and recognition during the Galactic Civil War for their part in numerous battles, eventually participating in the final Battle of Endor where Imperial Emperor Palpatine perished along with the Second Death Star. With the battle all but lost to the Rebel Alliance, afterwards dubbed the New Republic, the squadron set out to complete their ultimate mission: To avenge their Emperor.
Eight hundred years later, the results of Inferno Squadrons mission, whether or not they completed their mission or if it resulted as a failure is unknown, with records after the Battle of Endor lost due to the Gulag Plague. What remained of information on Inferno Squadron was retrieved by the Imperial Remnant, the direct descendant of the Galactic Empire, first several fragments in the datacores of Hypori which were completed with data obtained by damaged, but salvageable, Imperial vaults on Scarif.
The squadron was recommissioned by Imperial Military Intelligence and the Moff Council to compliment their growing number of Special Force squadrons, such as the Imperial storm commandos. Inferno Squadron is designated to assist the Imperial Army and Imperial Navy in completing objectives that differ from those assigned to the regular military, such as subterfuge, assassination, infiltration, and espionage.
The only thing for certain is that Inferno Squadron has returned, and it will, even after eight hundred years:
AVENGE THEIR EMPEROR
