Jack Sandrow
Writer, Character, Invasive Species
SPECIAL FEATURES
After Jack Sandrow's stint on New Cov with Valery Noble, he took to studying its flora with almost voracious dedication. One in particular, the Kalon tree, drew his attention for its odd method of reproduction and rather detailed cloning abilities. With a lot of fine-tuning and a not-insignificant amount of research into obscure Clone Wars biotech, Jack took the cloning process of the Kalon tree and carefully crafted a bespoke and unique mimic program for infiltration and skulduggery.
By sampling a drop of blood from a target, Jack is able to use this biosuite to physically change his body to mimic said target. This process takes time to perform; instantaneous camouflage is impossible, but once the transformation is complete it is very difficult to detect differences in physiology. Everything down to hair length, body type, and bone structure is copied, allowing a near-perfect replica of the target by Jack's own body having molded to fit.
There are caveats. As described in the Weaknesses section, there are details that are inevitable every time. Jack cannot change his eye color, and would need to wear contacts to properly disguise as a target. The target's DNA is layered overtop of Jack's DNA, and certainly the technology already exists to detect this discrepancy. Complex humanoids such as Twi'lek or Togruta require significantly more time than average to properly adjust to that new shape.
- Based on the rudimentary cloning abilities of the Kalon tree found on New Cov
- Based on the prototype 'facial transformation program' used during the Clone Wars
- Extremely small biotech is easily concealed on/within Jack's person for use whenever necessary
- Compatibility for almost all humanoid species allows a broad variety of potential disguises
- DNA processing allows for merely a single drop of blood (specifically the white blood cells) from a human, near-human, or humanoid to begin mimicry. Any tissue sample will do, but blood will usually be the easiest to come by, and as such it is prioritized within the 'Insidiae' biotech.
- As most DNA is shared between humanoid species, variations between DNA samples are quickly distinguished and processed
- Jack's own partially malleable physiology facilitates this biotech's reshaping of his body; a full transformation usually takes less than an hour
- Everything from pigmentation to texture is copied; Togruta horns are suitably hard, Twi'lek lekku are soft and properly prehensile, hair is grown to the correct shape and color, etc. This includes the voice box, which allows the voice of the target to be perfectly mimicked as well.
- Requires a tissue sample for every mimicked form - oddly, while the biotech can process complex individuals, it cannot produce an overall 'average'. That is, it can make Jack look like any person he's sampled, but it cannot make him look like an average individual of any species.
- Again, requires that tissue sample to be physically obtained. Simply scanning people or processing recorded biological data will not work.
- Not all humanoids are created equal - physically diverse humanoid species such as Duros, Twi'lek, or Togruta require significantly increased time to process and mimic.
- Limited to only organic humans, near-humans, and humanoids. No androids, robots, Ithorians, Banthas, Zillo Beasts, etc.
- No matter how perfect the mimicry, small discrepancies are inevitable.
- Jack's eyes are bright emerald green, and will always be bright emerald green. If the subject he is mimicking has a different eye color, then that is an insurmountable difference.
- Jack's physiology is plant-based. If someone takes a sample of his flesh while he is mimicking another species, then the illusion is lost.
- Extremely sensitive detection technology will pick up the glamer of the mimicked target's biology layered on top of Jack's true biology. If said technology only detects the presence of the target's biology, then Jack can pass by, but if that technology detects for any anomaly, then Jack will be very visibly anomalous.
