[Interest Check] Chiss Ascendancy

Hello everyone, and thank you first for clicking this thread! You're all beautiful today, too. But down to business. I've recently re-read through Outbound Flight the other day, and I got excited over the idea of a Chiss faction again, and with the space open right now, I thought it would pose for an interesting opportunity.

I've spoken to a few of you who expressed interest in the Chiss Ascendancy, and have given me advice. But, i thought it would be best to ask everyone. How many people are interested in making a Chiss character, with the ruling families and what-nots? Would you folks prefer it to be its own faction, or as part of the Sith? And if you have any questions, ask me. I'm down to help anyone out, who is interested.

I'm going to have to state this. There have been several Chiss Ascendancy factions, most of them have been minor factions that failed pretty hard. My advice is this, become a subfaction of the One Sith.

The OS will inevitably expand into Chiss space, i can tell you this now because thats where they were before and there is established story. However I'm entirely sure the One Sith will let you become a sub-faction. The OS really need more NFU and i looooove the Chiss. Seeing them as an active subfaction in the OS would delight me and i think it would give them lasting life.

I'd have to agree with Alric, it would probably be easier as a subfaction of the Sith instead of aiming for something else and the Sith would certainly welcome it

I'm not huge on the One Sith, but as a subfaction of theirs you'd have access to a ready-made pool of new potential recruits, the largest on the board. Easy way to get traction and maximize the payoff for your work.

or you know, just be a minor faction and not a sub faction... because you know, being a subfaction restricts what you can do far more than being a plain Minor would. Also ya, for some reason chiss factions fail hard and fast.

The biggest issue with factions like Chiss and Yuuzhan Vong, is the species exclusivity, and I know that. I've run Chiss Ascendancy-s before on other roleplays, and it's hard to get them to last longer than about 6 months. That's why I've already spoken to some of the One Sith leadership, and the idea of a sub-faction was proposed. It'd be similar to the Vong's current situation, but I'd hope to keep some activity and incentive going within the sub-faction.

Having the CA be part of the OS would be a symbiotic relationship, where the Chiss get the protection, while providing a possible pool of Non-Force Users. I feel like this is the way to go with the faction, and it'd guarantee that it'd provide survivability once the interest inevitably drops down to a handful of people.


So, I think it's safe to assume that based on the opinions so far, that sub-faction is the safer bet, unless someone has a strong argument against.

Mostly because the historical canon association between the Sith and Chiss, also because the One Sith used to control the space, so storywise, it's more relevant.

The One Sith will be dominating Chiss space via dominions extremely soon, that is what she means.

As I said on Skype (and you did mention) the biggest issue is getting people to all play Chiss. That doesn't meant it can't work. It just won't be easy, and there's not really a high chance of you getting the members and activity needed to pull off the niche you're looking for.

My suggestion is not to just create the Chiss Ascendancy of old but instead to make something similar, based off of it, even the same name, but with an atmosphere that's also inclusive to other races. There's always a trade-off. For The Primeval it wasn't going to happen that we would get everyone to roleplay being religious, so we made it possible for nonreligious characters to still have their role in society. You'd need to do the same with the non-Chiss.

Or like the limited words of the Darth above stated, do something alittle different than most, its the chiss ascendancy; doesn't mean other species cannot join it.

besides, I am sure it will go farther if it wasn't just chiss inside of it.. but this is just a random idea from a random blond, have fun with the faction.
