Interest Check: The Wayfarers

So, as as many of you who know my many-but-not-as-many-as-Cira characcters may have noticed, but I tend not to write characters who are orthodox in their respective traditions or organizations. Call it my inner punk if you will, but I find the non-traditional approaches far more interesting and fun to write than the traditional. This is especially so with Tiland here. Much of the inspiration for him comes from the comics about Nomi Sunrider (ALmost enough to write a character with her last name) and Vodo Bass, specifically. The other major influences are Jedi Master Fay, Nico Diath, Jon Antilles, and Knol Ven'nari. Fay is the main inspiration, but the general concept of them all, nomadic Jedi who followed the will of the Force above a council has always intrigued me as very fun to write. So, I have a proposition...

The Wayfarers

For years, war has torn through the galaxy, leaving gaping wounds in hearts, minds, and the Force itself as the Dark Side has grown stronger. Attention of all powers has been drawn to the core where the Republic and One Sith have been at each others throats while the Silver Sanctum Coalition and Mandalorians strive against the Primeval. Jedi have become warriors out of need, their attention focused on holding the core and serving their governments on the battlefield and splitting over those same governments.

The people of the Outer Rim have been forgotten in this struggle, held as insignificant compared to the usable wealth and resources that makes the Core one of the wealthiest sectors of the galaxy. The people of the Outer Rim have suffered from this, plagued by slavers and pirates, falling prey to plagues and epidemics with known cures but lacking the resources, torn apart by warlords and short-lasting governments that dreaming of matching the Core. For many, their hope has died, and they certainly no longer expect Jedi aid. Others consider the Jedi as nothing more than a myth, tools of propaganda.

Despite that, there are Jedi who remain in the Outer Rim, serving its people. Not just Jedi, but many from fringe traditions. They follow neither council nor grandmaster, but follow the guidance of the Force to lead them where they are needed, bringing light without the use of a lightsaber in many situations.

Over time, many of their paths have crossed, the threads of their lives woven together by the Will of the Force. Hardly an Order by any stretch of the word, they had no council, no grandmaster, no hierarchy. Instead, they were a network they referred to as the Wayfarers. Travelers, nomads, mystics. In times of great need, the Force calls them together to fulfill their destines, although often at great cost.

They take many forms. Some appear as traveling elders in travel-worn robes and cloaks with graying hair and weathered faces. Others are innocuous spacers, moving from world to world carrying cargo and sometimes other Wayfarers, according to where the Force desires them. Some are smugglers. Some are bounty hunters. All follow the Light and spread it to the darkest corners of the galaxy, smashing slave rings and arresting murderers, mediating conflicts and bring harmony.

That's the IC concept. OOCly, it'd be a minor faction akin to the Underground with [member="Jorus Merrill"]. Loose, no true leadership hierarchy with characters organizing their own storylines as they travel, with collaboration being the key for larger plots. It also has some similarities to the Green Jedi enclave that [member="Julius Sedaire"] is working on.

There is no real restriction on characters who could be one of the Wayfarers, other than that they are Light Sided and in general, mostly work outside a more structured Jedi Order. Not that the Wayfarers don't recognize these as Jedi, but they believe in a much larger Jedi tradition that encompasses all who use their powers for good.

And yes, everyone wants the shiny bling. I'll see if I can find something to use for signature tags. Probably also something ICly as well. I'm thinking some Force imbued talisman of wood or something along those lines. But join in on the concept and pitch your ideas.
