It began, like with most adventures – or was it better to deem them misadventures? – in the Du Couteau home with an innocent question. One led to two, and by the time Marriskcal came to a crystal realisation, the victim count of her scheming were augmented by the inclusion of the presence of a longsuffering Seto Du Couteau.

And as the young lady adored her brother with all of her heart, she would never allow such a lapse in what she deemed to be an essential lesson to persist. A war of attrition has taken place between the siblings, and with every argument the argent-haired male has made, it was refuted by a reasoning of her own.

In the end?

Marriskcal ended with his reluctant acquiescence, though she had a feeling it was only because her brother was worrying over the wellbeing of their adorable students. Truly, the younglings that came into their care were resilient and eager to learn, even when they were still beleaguered. And the only knowledge she knew how to impart was to ensure they were strong, so strong that they would never falter in the face of adversity.

So the hunter taught them, careful to remember to refrain from harsh words and punishments for when she found herself frustrated. She sheathed her fangs and claws, always echoing to herself that everyone learned at their own pace, with their own fortes and limitations. It made for a humbling experience, for while the blonde may never confess to her harsh nurture when she was a youngling under the monochrome firmament of Skye, she was beginning to realise it was far from idyllic.

She wanted them to have things she never did when they were young and carefree, to take in the scent of petrichor in a jungle and to stand at the precipice of the ocean as a storm approaches. She wanted them to be able to have keepsakes they treasured to mark the passing of time without fear of it being taken, and memories that they found themselves smiling at whenever it crosses their thoughts. And, being away from the noise of Coruscant every now and then would only do their students good.

Silent and serene, Marriskcal was seated on a plush seat even as their shuttle entered the atmosphere, the hum of the repulsorlift engines slowing their descent thrumming through the hull. The usually impatient creature that she was found herself amused by the antics of their students even as they stood before the windows, their vibrant chatter and bright exclamations laving over her as they found themselves enthralled by the view of the world below.

With a fond smile curving her lips, the young lady inclined her head to regard her brother, her bound hair spilling over a shoulder as she did. “Do not fret, Seto. It is just for a few days, and as far as we know, the world does not have any creatures that would pose any danger to either of us.” After all, Marriskcal was not wholly unreasonable, considering this would be the first time their students – and her brother – would be sleeping under the stars. To someone such as her, the rainforests and seas of Borleais was bountiful, making it an ideal world for learning.

And if the weather permits, they can even spend some time by the sea.

The piano keys gently pressed to produce the chord structure commanded by the delicate fingers of the young Du Couteau heir. From one key to the next, the sounds of piano strings being hit with deliberate hammer strokes from each key being gently pressed. Precision, exactness and faultless play of each chord, to each melody, from one harmony to the slow but deliberate measure of the next. Seto continued to create more music to fill the room, his eyes closed to allow himself a different experience than from watching himself play.

A pause came as the sounds in the room descended until the last of the echoes faded, quietness filled the room soon after but not for long. Seto turned his attention to his sister who was sitting presently behind him. Her smile was adorable and her eyes gleamed, but something appeared off to him. A quality about her stricken Seto with a sense of unease, but the poker player he was, Seto returned the smile and approached Marr.

“The name of the song?”

“Paradise. The author wanted to express a sense of freedom, as one would feel when seeing the great blue skies, lands untouched by civilization.” Seto explained, his eyebrow raised slightly but perhaps he was being overly cautious of his sister.

Her eyes shifted from a gleam to a glint, a strange but familiar aura filled the room and Seto swore he heard the minor keys of his piano play suddenly.

“Shall we visit a paradise?”

Conversing with: Marriskcal Lati Marriskcal Lati

Seto was certain of many things in his life, in fact he hardly walked out of his office without planning the next thirty steps, but as the ship descended through the atmosphere he felt unprepared. Unprepared for the first time after such a long period of expert planning and foresight. Though it had occurred to him that the possibility of shortening their little outing was something he could pursue, the chances of coming home with a happy Marr was exceptionally low. Perhaps not just low, but practically non-existent.

Thus Seto sighed in acceptance and deliberated on his actions to improve the situation he was currently tied to for the foreseeable future. Camping out in the wilderness, along with their students and with perhaps the least amount of support since his time as an Inquisitor sent out to hunt some rogue Jedi on some forsaken frozen wasteland. Which, if Seto had to be honest, their camping trip was hardly life threatening, it was mostly the prospect of having to protect his clothes from all the. . . mud.

Mud.

No single word could ever send a shiver down the man’s spine faster than it being thrown at him by a terrorizing blonde hellion. Said firebrand sat across from him, and as much as Seto dreaded the prospect of being outside camping, he couldn’t resist such a smile. He had made a commitment and Seto knew he was obligated to at least enjoy their trip, or rather, an attempt.

“I do not fret.” Seto spoke, matter of factually, “-I assess and plan, never worry or fret. Total. Composure.” He sighed as his hand freely combed through his hair, his fingers gently pushing away his fret to the obscure corners of his mind.

With a weary smile he nodded once again at the idea of taking their students along as many sights as possible. A beach was perhaps something none have been before, only seen in holo-images and those holo-dramas that Marr slighter into her lectures. Back on Coruscant, Seto despised the synthetic sand, and manufactured waves, And the absurd costs, so he never dared allow any student to visit such ‘Virtual Beach’. Alas much to Seto's issues with exploring the wilderness, he was caught in his own fallacy of disallowing his students to visit the shams beaches on Coruscant and not allowing them to venture into dangerous areas beyond their ability to keep themselves from harm.

Cheering up slightly at the thought of visiting an actual natural beach, “-Perhaps it would benefit all of us to enjoy a more natural environment.” He agreed with his sister after all initially with the idea of bringing them all to explore some locations of nature. But just like Marr being Marr, she more than ran with the idea, she sprinted and dragged us along for this wild ride.

But of course, not to be outdone by his mischief-maker of a sister, Seto had brought along some extra provisions. Well, extra in the eyes of Seto, and much of it unseen by Marr for the moment. Besides the assortment of packaged military meals designed for long extrusions into the wilderness, be it desert or jungle, Seto made it clear that in order to survive a trip into the forest alone with all his students and Marr; He assured himself several contingencies, one of them being large amounts of bribery. Very specific bribes,

Seto stood and gently pushed past the swarm of students all intent of being the first ones out of the shuttle, he gestured for Marr to help control the excitement as he positioned himself in front of the small students.

“Ground rules, the grown up's words are final. You listen to us, and you obey us.” Seto explained quickly, he was half positive none of them were listening, but he had to make the attempt. “The rest of the rules and goals can be explained by Marr herself.” Seto directed their attention to the one who brought them across the stars to this very planet.

"Please illuminate us to purpose here on Borleias."
