Interpol faction idea

Lately I've been wanting to make (and actively play) a planetary cop, but I've always loved Tom Clancy's books and lately I've been playing a lot of Rainbow Six Siege. That got me thinking, what if we made some sort of interstellar police group? As a concept, it's really flexible because it caters to the strengths of rolling NFU characters but is also indifferent to Force Users. There'd be a place for cops, veterans, bounty hunters and even counter-terrorist elites, so there'd be a fair range of different things to do. Plenty of top-tier tech and gear as well! We certainly have no shortage of crime and terrorist groups/activities on Chaos! There's a ton of potential for thread and story content.

Who would join something like this? Really see it through?

I'm of the opinion of [member="Jamie Pyne"]. The basic idea sounds cool, but it could go wrong. I know this from firsthand experience. Not on this site but in Real Life, from my tabletop games group.

I have been seeing a couple of characters/talk about characters that would fit in really well with this kind of faction. I'm tagging in [member="Jack Nalto"] who is new here but I saw asking questions about Law and Order here at Chaos. I know there were other people, but I can't remember where to find them/their posts.

The logistics of it might be difficult to work out. Without a governing body over the organization itself, the role leans more towards vigilantism.

The way InterPol works is through a charter with hundreds of countries, but they hardly do actual police work in the field, they basically coordinate law enforcement between countries. Like if the FBI has reason to believe a fugitive is in Mexico, they can coordinate with Mexico through InterPol.

Now, it may be possible to set up an organization that DOES do actual police work and has a charter with different factions and planets, but we'd have to figure out where the laws of separate factions are similar and where they're different in order to coordinate between them. Say faction A considers vandalism a crime but faction B considers it perfectly fine, but the agency has reason to believe that a criminal comitting vandalism in faction A's territories has run off to hide in faction B's territories. Coordinating how situations like that would work IC...

Then there's also potential for abuse between factions. If we've chartered with both the Sith and the Jedi, there's potential for one side to use the agency to covertly attack the other, somehow.

If we could work out the issues we might come across IC, then I'm all for it. Another option would be to function as a private organization, such as a private military/security contractor, with emphasis on crime solving, detective work, criminal apprehension, general policing, etc.

Pretty much this.

Essentially a number of major factions would have to generate a charter to make this happen.

Right now I feel slavery is generally a thing that I feel the Galactic Alliance, Galactic Republic, Silver Sanctum Coalition and possibly The Kathol Outback could come together as a galactic level agreement on combating something.

I doubt the mando's would even consider an outside organization to conduct law enforcement inside their own borders as they have their own ways of typically approaching this.

Sith, I mean you could go that route although I highly doubt that it would be entirely crime lords and such but rather tracking down enemies of the state.

The Galactic Republic has revitalized a new law enforcement agency under its Marshals led by [member="Jack Law"] who will likely be someone who would be down for this sort of interfaction writing of crime fighting and what not.

There is plenty of potential for this!

Group is here.
Discussion is here.

I left it very open-ended because I want to hear peoples' thoughts before I really rough out my own ideas in stone.

Great, just what the galaxy needs... More law enforcement!

Silly ruling governments, always keeping the entrepreneurs down or in check!

I wish you the best of luck.

Not really, I am secretly rooting against you, but am hoping you will not notice because of the tiny text in which I have written this last part.
