Private Into the Abyss

T'SURR - WOODLANDS

Now this was a new development.

When Jonah and his Sithspawn partner-in-crime decided to venture into Sith Space, they did so hoping to understand more about those who wielded the Dark Side. They did not go to kneel. They did not go to surrender. And thus, their journey took them to a Kaggath as mere spectators. It was here that many opportunities presented themselves to the duo - as the outcome of the furious match would create all sorts of vacuums within the Empire. However, for Jonah, there was another opportunity. For as he witnessed the battle, whispers of the dark reached him.

And from these quiet words did he learn the true nature of the Abyss.

The Voice was "kind" enough to share with him the reality of the Dark Side and of the climb to power. What's more, she offered to guide him. She would show him how to dive into the abyss - and it would be up to him to rise from it. Jonah eagerly agreed. And like the relationship he had with Leven, a new partnership was formed. The man had a new mentor in the Dark Side. And his mentor had a newfound ally who brimmed with potential.

Of course, the time for meeting was not whilst watching two Sith Lords pummel each other to near death. Thus, the Voice's associates provided Jonah with coordinates after the Kaggath. It was there that he would be able to meet his mentor face-to-face. It was there that his understanding would begin. Oddly enough, the coordinates were not what Jonah had anticipated. He had presumed that they would be meeting within Sith Space, or at least within some piece of architecture that screamed "there be Sith here." However, as Jonah's ship touched down on T'surr, his assumptions were proved moot.

The coordinates saw Jonah's ship settle down within a facility, surrounded by woods everywhere. A look at the HoloNet before disembarking told the man a couple things. One, the world had high gravity and dangerous natives. And two, the facility was a field office for some corporation. Curious, Jonah made his way off the ship and braced himself for the difference in pressure upon his body. However, he was pleased to discover that the facility had the means of equalizing the gravity on the premises.

What did not please him were the plurality of red dots which shined on his flesh mere moments after landing. Jonah instinctively raised his hands as he stared down a number of armed guards and automated turrets.

"My name is Jonah. I am expected."

Surprisingly, this did not immediately inspire the facility defenses to stand down.

The facility was a recent construction. So, the outside of it lacked the usual ornate or architectural artistry that Velda was accustomed to. It was a tool, and would then suffice. To begin Jonah's journey into the darkness. At the Kaggath he assured her he was ready, but the question is, was he really ready? What would transpire tonight is to see if he truly was.

Because when you stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back. And in some cases, it can even hypnotize and destroy a person.

T'surr had been a suitable place for her vision of the purpose of the building. The high gravity would discourage invasion from Alliance forces or Mandalorians, or the occasional Imperial. And especially from inspired pirates, she did, after all, have many artistic pieces scattered about the grounds, a few holo-paintings of ancient Sith vs Jedi battles, and statues of Sith Lords long since gone. She even had a few Sith artifacts around.

Sitting at the far end of the great hall, the commlink on the arm of her chair chimed

[[ My lady, an individual, approached the property and is claiming that he is expected. ]]

She pressed the button to the comm to speak [[ And he is, I sensed him, give him the standard checks, and give him the card to the great hall. And send him in.]]

The guard responded [[ As you wish M'lady... ]]

As instructed, the guards did their normal checks and the doors began to open.

[[ You are to go to the great hall, the door is on the far end, you can't miss it. It's two enormous doors. You'll need this... ]]

He handed him the card.

[[ This card will let you in the room to that door, and to that door only. Don't worry about swiping, its proximity activated. The doors will know when it's close and they'll open. Off you go... ]]

After making his introduction, Jonah waited on baited breath.

He watched as the lead guardsmen reached out over the comm. He could all but feel the laser pointers that were visible on his sternum. One wrong move and the journey of his lifetime was set to be a short one. However, Jonah did not fret. If the Voice herself wanted to extinguish him, he imagined that she wouldn't summon him to a remote world to do so. The power that she wielded would have been enough to snuff him out during the Kaggath or immediately after.

Rest in peace Strosius and all that.

After what felt a small eternity, the guards stood down and the local defenses hummed. Jonah felt assured that they were no longer targeting him, so he released a pent up breath through his nostrils. He nodded along, taking the card provided by the lead, before striding forth into the rather rugged facility. Soon, he stood before the twin doors and, as promised, they swung open as he advanced. Jonah paused only to properly store the card in his pants pocket before continuing into the great hall.

There, he saw her.

His strides bore him to the opposing side of the table she sat behind. And it was here that the understanding they shared during the Kaggath made itself manifest. He was no slave. She sought no one to grovel before her. But, he would show decorum and gratitude for what was to come. Thus, Jonah offered a polite bow of his head before folding his arms confidently.

"Nice place you've got here." he began, before motioning behind him with his thumb. "Your security really knows how to treat a fella."

Jonah then offered a light smile - the air he exuded was light, despite the ambition which roared just underneath the surface. He knew what laid ahead would be difficult. This was just the calm before the storm as it were.
