Tarw had been given a chance to lead a mission on an investigation of a potential Imperial stronghold that had been constructed on the world of Fornax, one that could possibly be used as a way for the Dark Empire to invade the world and take over. With it being on the borders of the Alliance and dangers to them it could pose having a world taken over by the imperial forces, Tarw decided he would lead a group to investigate and assist locals friendly with the Alliance in taking it down. He kept the team small so that they wouldn't draw too much attention and he wanted to approach some who were not necessarily Galactic Alliance soldiers but were capable fighters as well, that way the imperials couldn't use their mission as a reason to attempt a full scale invasion in the Alliance territory.

Lots of risks to consider but Tarw wanted to show the Alliance that he was a capable soldier who could lead forces well. Especially since he was keen to do more work like this. He had found some damning evidence on his father's old squad that he was hoping were false accusations. If the imperials held any information, confirming or denying these rumours then he needed to find them. So far his squad was a tech Zabrak named Gundar, a weapon specialist Twi'lek named Peek and a medic in the form of a Rodian named Wrad. He had heard that there could be a fourth that might be willing to join him, he just needed to pay them a visit to bring them on board for the mission.

Heading to Onderon, Tarw was wearing his heavy armour, knowing that he was going to be heading straight to Fornax after this. Approaching the potential recruit, he noted the Zeltron and gave a friendly wave to the other man. "Hey, I'm Tarw. I was told by Senator Organa that you might be itching to get into a mission? I'm heading to Fornax to deal with some imperials that might have a stronghold there, small group are going to be heading in and wanted to see if you would be willing to assist us with your talents." Tarw mentioned, deciding to cut straight to the point and avoid beating around the bush with needless small talk. This was important job for him and he wanted to get the problem sorted as swiftly as he could.

Agent Nos Voros returned Tarw’s wave with a formal bow,

“A pleasure to meet you, Tarw. You were told correct - after recent incidents and multiple requests Lady Sylvia Organa Lady Sylvia Organa has relented, permitting me to assist the GADF in during my recreational vacation time. Frankly ever since she became Senator it's been hard to get decent practice in. I appreciate your hospitality and thank you for to allowing me to join.”

Nos nods to Gundar, Peek, and Ward each in turn, quickly assessing each with a glance.
  • Gundar, Zabrak, covered in gadgets and laden with things other than ordinance.
    • Either a quartermaster or tech. Stronghold takeover? Definitely a tech.
    • Never met a Zabrak that couldn't fight either, should be reliable.
  • Peek, Twi’lek covered in weapons.
    • More than enough firepower for both them and Gunnar.
    • I should be careful around them, bad experiences with Twi’lek in the past.
    • I trust this crew to keep things professional and I think I can keep my pheromones in check.
  • Ward, Rodian, clearly a medic.
[*]At least I won't have to treat my own wounds this time - I'll be sure to keep this one out of the line of fire.
"Please, treat me no differently than you would any other subordinate for this mission. An imperial stronghold sounds like the perfect spot for some exercise”

Nos allowed himself a small grin, the expression a rare sight on the anhedonic Zeltron's face.

Finally, a decent vacation

Seeing Nos was onboard without much convincing was a relief. The more that Tarw could get on their team the better their chances were. Introducing Nos to the rest of the crew once they got on board the imperial shuttle that Tarw had managed to confiscate during a mission. "Gundar is our tech, he'll be hacking into the base and accessing files we'll need to bring down the stronghold. Peek is a weapons specialist, working as a sniper for this mission, she'll make sure our exit is covered. Finally, Wrad is our medic, he is also a pilot, so he'll be making sure the ship is hot and ready to go. Gotta prepare for a messy exit even if we want a smooth one."

Tarw clapped the shoulders of his crew, feeling confident in them, "I'm going to be our hammer, my armour is tough and my gun can suppress them." Tarw grinned as he gestured to the large rotary cannon on the table in the main hull of the ship. Nodding to Wrad, the Rodian shifted into the pilot seat and got the ship ready to head to Fornax.

"Current plan is to have Peek on a mountain overseeing us from afar, here." Tarw gestured as he pulled up a holodisplay of the surrounding region of the where the location of the base was rumoured to be. "You, me and Gundar will be head in, I'll take the charge, you work with Gundar to hack into the gate to gain access into the base." Tarw stated. "We are hoping that the forces will be minimum since they are trying to hide their presence on the world. So, if we can take them all down, then we can call Wrad and Peek into the base."

Looking over to Nos, "we are looking for any information we can gather on imperial activity, troop movements, and perhaps if there is any data on spies within the Galactic Alliance." Tarw was laying it all out for Nos so that there was no secrecy during the mission. He was going to work with them, Tarw needed to be as honest as possible.

Nos nodded along as he heard Tarw’s briefing. An imperial shuttle would get us close, at least past an initial checkpoint.

Off to a promising start.

"I'm going to be our hammer, my armour is tough and my gun can suppress them."

Nos better understood his role

“A suppressed enemy is easier to flank - I'm grateful for the position. I'd be honored to flush out a few imperial rats from hiding and into Peek’s crosshairs".

"You, me and Gundar will be head in, I'll take the charge, you work with Gundar to hack into the gate to gain access into the base."

Nos made eye contact with Gundar, giving confidant nod. Voros had more experience protecting a single target than just about anything else in his line of duty.

"we are looking for any information we can gather on imperial activity, troop movements, and perhaps if there is any data on spies within the Galactic Alliance."

Looking over the region to solidify it in his mind, Nos asked some clarifying questions:

“Are we going strictly lethal or do we have authority to accept the surrender of prisoners for questioning?”

Nos reconsidered the wording of his question carefully, getting closer to the heart of his question:

“Rather - I understand we're striking hard and fast to pull Intel. Risking an operative to pull a prisoner out may not be worth the cost. Do the rules of engagement permit field interrogations if the opportunity arises?”

Nos had no strong feelings either way about the Tarw's call on questioning imperials under duress, but he also knew the GADF and SIA had different codes of conduct. Nos didn't want to toe the line, even if he might be able to do so without misconduct charges.

Tarw seemed like a principled warrior, and Nos had an opportunistic streak when under fire. The Zeltron would rather have a clear groundwork of expectations laid out now instead of seeking permission in the heat of conflict.

After Tarw’s answer, Nos nodded in agreement, stretching his wrists and neck.

“Works for me, I'm set to ship out when the rest of you are”.

It was good to see that Nos was fitting into the team well, it was a good sign that Tarw had selected the right people for this mission and fingers crossed that the mission would go smoothly to secure his chances moving forward. When Nos asked the big question, Tarw could see all eyes turned to him except Wrad who was setting course for Fornax into the ship's computer. Tarw removed his helmet and his young features were on display. "Killing people should be a last course of action, if they wish to surrender and willingly provide answers to our questions. Fine." Tarw paused then looked over to Nos.

"However, get us all home and making sure the mission is a success is priority to me. So, no hesitations and shoot to kill is the main order unless the situation changes." Tarw stated, he was not pleased with the idea of killing people but he refused to get his own people killed by being soft. This was not like a Jedi fight, there were snap decisions and they couldn't sense out the dangers. They had to rely on gut instincts.

Nodding his head to Nos, "good question though. Any other queries feel free to shoot them my way." Tarw stated, he then moved towards Wrad at the cockpit and tapped the Rodian's shoulder. Whispering some instructions about how to get as close as possible to the stronghold without detection. After an exchange of words. Tarw headed back to the main hull.

"Peek is getting dropped at Point A, secure a position that provides cover for yourself and oversight on us. Rest of us are going to be dropped at Point B which should be as close to the base as we can get. So make sure you are all prepped for jumping out of the ship as it is moving." Tarw gave a heads up since they could risk the shuttle coming under fire while landing so they had to jump out while it was moving.

"ETA is in five for Peek!" Wrad called out for the rest to hear.

THE APPROACH

Tarw’s response answered both the spoken and unspoken questions Nos had.

“No other questions, Sir” Nos replied.

Mission first, survival second, supplementary information only as surrendered or stumbled uponr. Prioritize clean and lethal threat neutralization unless orders change or nonlethal methods are sufficient.

The SIA’s less honorable means of information extraction are not to be utilized, likely not tolerated by the GADf, Nos felt no need to probe further in that regard.

As the shuttle approached Point A, Nos touched his brow in a casual parting wave to Peek. A good sniper was an ace in the hole; from the quality of the rest of the team Nos had no concern of Peek’s ability to provide overwatch.

Nos unfastened the belts securing him to the seat and gripped the overhead handle in on the approach to point B. If the LZ was hot he’d need to be ready to slide out, could be a rough fall. He thumbed the grip of his ascension pistol - if the drop was too far the gouge in the hull of the shuttle might be forgivable for a softer landing.

He ran his fingers over one of his stun grenades, mentally preparing in the event he needed to prime and toss one out of the bay to buy time when he, Tarw, and Gundar offboarded. Ideally buy at least enough time to get Tarw’s rotary cannon spinning.

Nos silenced his thoughts, letting calm clarity read through his empathic telepathy. He didn't sense much in the way of nerves, but it was a small thing to provide as they drew closer to point A. Nos passed the moments listening to the sound of the shuttle’s thrusters and waiting for the sound of blaster fire to announce if their approach had been
compromised.

"Any last minute intel, Tarw?"

Peek dropped down from the shuttle and used the small jetpack attached to her back to slow the descent before she shifted towards cover. Tarw heard her over the comms wishing them good luck with their drop. Tarw grabbed his cannon and clipped it onto his back with his beskad, looking over to the pair that would be joining him, he nodded to them. Holding onto the handles attached to the roof of their shuttle, "comm channel is 5, Peek can provide you some information via that."

"According to intel, it should be minimal imperial presence but be ready for anything. If we catch wind of Sith presence, objective is abandoned and we head home," Tarw knew the squad was strong but fighting Sith was a whole other type of fight that he didn't think any of them were ready. Last one he faced it was alongside the Sword of the Jedi and even then, Valery Noble Valery Noble did all the fighting. He was more a meat shield, so without that presence, he really knew they needed to avoid Sith.

Wrad called out over the mic that they were at their LZ as the shuttle doors opened once again for them to jump down as Wrad slowed the shuttle to ensure they had a bumpy but safe landing. "Lets head to it!" Tarw called out as he leaped out of the shuttle and felt the rush of gravity pulling him down to the ground. It was a short trip before his microrepulsors on his armour kicked in and slowed his descent so he could land with a heavy thud as he went to one knee but he was unharmed.

Pulling his rotary cannon out, he gripped it ready to fire and charged forward. The shuttle speeding above them as auto cannons fired at the shuttle as the imperials realised too late that it was not one of theirs. "Get to cover! I will get in closer and draw the attention!" Tarw called out as he continued to charge forward. Feeling the imperials start to turn their attention to the dropped off soldiers.

"According to intel, it should be minimal imperial presence but be ready for anything. If we catch wind of Sith presence, objective is abandoned and we head home,"

Nos grimaced. His spar with Azurine Varek Azurine Varek showed him just how dangerous even a young Force User could be. If one was present, Nos would need to catch it unaware. He mentally reserved his single high explosive grenade for such an eventuality.

Nos looked at the distance to the ground and muttered a small curse under his breath as he slid to grab onto the ledge of the shuttle. Nos lowered himself before dropping, still landing ungracefully, rolling sideways a few times from the shuttle's momentum.

. "Get to cover! I will get in closer and draw the attention!"

Nos wasted no time in preparing and priming a stun grenade for the imperial guards. As the blaster fire began, Nos threw the orb into the elevated firing position of the guardpost and ran to the side, kneeling low and bracing himself against the wall to take cover. He drew his Heavy Blaster Pistol in his right hand, Vibro knife in reverse grip in his left. Nos took aim, ready to fire at any guards that attempted flee cover to flank Tarw or target Gundar.

The muted boom of the stun grenade rumbled through the wall. A few troopers fumbling out into the open proved easy targets for Nos.

The Zeltron advanced and readied to infiltrate into the guardpost. Nos would secure the gate terminal for Gundar once Tarw’s blaster fire began. Sure enough, it did. Before he could advance, Nos heard a thud behind him - an imperial jumped from the emplacement above getting a literal drop on Voros.

A shot unheard from point A struck true; the imperial trooper's helmet exploded just before the sound of Peek's fire reached Nos's ears. Silently, Nos thanked the Twi'lek, even as another trooper lept from the parapet. Nos had this second trooper disarmed, hamstrung, and silenced by his vibroknife in quick before Peek could take another shot

Once more Nos dropped low and hugged the wall as he approached the torrent of lights firing both directions, waiting for the right moment to rush the gate.

Like a well oiled machine, the squad were working in tandem, with Tarw drawing the main line of fire. His beskar plates pinging off some bolts, as the rotary cannon fired off heavy fire in retaliation. The spread fire wasn't accurate but it was doing a good enough job to ensure the imperials were forced into cover or risking their lives. The barrels of his cannon were glowing hot red as he continued to fire. Tarw was pushing his weapon to its limits but he knew how well it could do the job.

Gundar shifted to the terminal for the gate and began slicing his way into the system using his computer spike. His eyes darted back and forth, making sure that everyone was doing okay as he worked on the terminal. After a few moments that felt like a lifetime, Gundar yelled in delight as he got into the system and called out to Nos that the gate was opening.

Tarw felt the rain of bolts on his body, while most had been deflected and pinged harmlessly away, some had gotten a little too close for comfort and he could feel the sweat on his forehead brewing. Tarw kept pushing forward, acting as an unmovable boulder, he would not waiver from his path. The cannon was at it's limit for the magazine, he knew that reloading it would take too long in this moment. Swinging the cannon around onto his back, Tarw pulled out of his blaster pistol and started firing. Less cover fire, Tarw was now close enough he could start targeting people to take out. He also lobbed thermal detonators into defence towers.

"Move forward, push them back now!" Tarw called out over the comms as he continued to lead the charge.

The doors slid open and Nos dashed in. Tarw’s barrage had done most of the heavy lifting; Voros could practically walk in without resistance.

A few well placed shots downed the remainder of the armed guards in the immediate vicinity. If there were more imperials at the gate that didn't walk out into the Tarw and Peek’s fatal funnel, they likely retreated further in to regroup; either to call for backup or to lay ambush, likely both. They left their immobile injured behind.

Nos recalled the answer to his earlier question, reminding himself of the directive.

Prioritize clean and lethal threat neutralization unless orders change or nonlethal methods are sufficient.

Nos callously grabbed the highest ranking guard by the heel, dragging them out towards the front of the gate for Tarw to deal with as he saw fit, occasionally firing his blaster as a mercy to those still squirming as second nature.

They don't seem to care much for their subordinates,” Nos remarked.

Hostages could still be used infiltrate further-
Nos forced himself to banish the thought. SIA thinking. Keep it clean, keep it humane.

Nos silently stepped further into the stronghold as the others cleared the interior of the first few rooms. The Zeltron set up to ambush any patrol or retaliatory fireteam; he took cover in a blind corner directly next to a doorway along a lengthy corridor.

A single set of footsteps at a jogging pace alerted Nos to an upcoming trooper, likely a messenger or one who was severely late to the action. To keep things quiet and clean, Nos holstered his blaster and drew a cylinder that split in two to reveal a Garrote wire connected to both halves.

As the trooper passed, Nos stepped out, looped the wire over the helmet and around the neck, and rapidly pulled the loop closed while snatching the trooper into his hiding place like a carnivorous insect catching its prey. Nos used his heel to kick the trooper’s hand away from his holster and keep him unarmed as he tightened the wire around the imperial’s neck. Soon, all was still.

Without letting up on the wire’s tension, Nos listened down the corridor, hearing nothing but the already-raised alarm. Nos gave a nod, silently letting Tarw and Gundar know they have time to reload and regroup if needed, but not long.

Nos didn't personally recall seeing a data terminal during his entry, but his focus was on infiltration.
