In a few days it will be a new year, and along with 2016, comes a new invasion! It’s time to flex the One Sith might, defend our territory, and along with our frenemies The Galactic Alliance, we are trying out a different type of objective called Bring Your Own Objective (or BYOO). There will be traditional objectives too, but the BYOO works like this:
Basically it’s what it sounds like - the story and objectives of the conflict are up to you. It could be a huge, sweeping battle or diplomatic talks. Your characters could be swoop racing or they could even band together to defeat a common foe or survive a night an unforgiving wilderness with the Galactic Alliance. The point is that it’s free-form, story-driven and has no predictable outcome.
How is victory determined in a BYOO, you ask?
At the end of the invasion, the two leaders of each objective must agree on a statement on the status of their area. They don’t have to agree on a winner or loser, but must write a sentence or two on the current state of play. Faction Admins on each side will be following along on these objectives and the admins will begin to deliberate based on which side had the clear, superior advantage based on character actions and writing. If they can’t decide quickly, it goes to a RPJ - no arguing.
So how could this look? Remember, they don’t have to be fighting objectives. You could have diplomatic talks, for example. Here is an example submitted by the Galactic Alliance

EXAMPLE BYOO OBJECTIVE
Title of Thread: “Bunker Busters (GA Invasion of Lujo)”
Aims: Based on advantage either side has in story, open sandbox
Open/Private: Open
Category: PvP
Leaders: PCs TBD
Description: The Sith Command centre on Lujo is a network of interconnected bunkers at the base of a mountain range. The GA are trying to infiltrate but they need to disable three layers of defense to do so. NPCs are background noise as both sides join battle in a series of interconnecting chambers.

If you are interested in writing a BYOO, please fill out the template below. Keep in mind that with both FA reviewing objectives, that not all objectives will be approved, but we'll try our best to make sure that everyone's ideas are incorporated!

Aims: What are each side attempting to achieve? (This should not be specific. Examples would be: The Sith deploys a couple of walkers to destroy the Alliance base, but they are attacked by Alliance X-wings)
Open/Private: Is it open for anyone to join at any point during the invasion? Or only to those who signed up prior to the start-date of the invasion?
Leaders: Who is responsible for managing this objective? [one from each side]
Category: PvP/NPC/Fleet/PvE/etc
Description: What’s the story background for the objective? Where is it set? Are there any requirements for people to join? What’s the size of the fleets/land forces involved?
The OS members - YOU - will create all of these objectives, so feel free to get creative as you want and RP the stories you want to write. If you are artistically inclined you can make maps or other visual keys for your objective. Send your objectives to the FAs by 1/10 or post them below for review. The FA will approve the objectives and give you further instructions before the Invasion starts on January 17, 2016.
