- Broadside: The side facing firepower of the Invictus is astounding at close range, letting it tear through the heavily armoured flanks of similarly sized warships. Invictus gunnery crews often remark that pincer movements against the ship simply give them more targets to tear through. Even at range the ship is deadly, boasting lance cannons to tear shields to tatters before swooping in to gut it.
- Fortress: Both inside and out this battlecruiser does not lack defenses. The ship has both heavy protection from enemy warships and fighters, as well as a small army’s worth of anti-boarding defenses including droids and peacekeeper void combat specialists.
- Firing arcs: At close range the Invictus cannot do much damage unless it manages to come alongside the enemy warship to deliver a broadside, otherwise it will be unable to bring the bulk of its firepower to bear.
- Brawler: The Invictus lacks the traditionally larger fighter complement of other battlecruisers, and has a greater reliance on escorting picket ships to provide defense against bombers. The placement of the hangers also hurts its ability to deploy its complement in combat
Technical Information:
The largest capital ship produced by Arms Dynamics, the Invictus Class Battlecruiser is geared towards closing with similarly sized warships before delivering a huge single strike to cripple or destroy it. Lance guns provide ranged firepower, stripping shields from hostile ships before the Invictus can bring its broadside guns and other short ranged ballistic weapons to bear. The ship also sports ballistic point defense Rushlight autocannons adding to its anti-starfighter screen.
Due to the internal volume required to mount so many weapons and defensive systems the Invictus has very little room for hangers despite its size, and the stored ships are difficult to deploy in combat.
Development History:
The Invictus was commissioned primarily in response to the rise of the Brotherhood of the Maw's expansion into nearby systems, envisioned as a way to level the playing field and to at least blunt the deployment of enemy SSDs and dreadnoughts. The Invictus's design is an upscaling of the earlier Gravis Heavy Cruiser Mk1 using the same general shape and banks of broadside guns, albeit in numbers matching the ship's quadrupling in length and upgrade in class. As well the ship was used as a testbed for the use of weapons originally designed for ground vehicles and much smaller gunships, testing the use of the Rushlight Autocannons as anti-starfighter capital ship point defence cannons.
