STANDARD FEATURES
  • The Ironbreaker is equipped with all standard features one would expect from a vessel of its size, class and purpose. Systems, computers, and sensors are equivalent to the technological standards found aboard other bombers and assault craft of the modern era. However, it lacks life support or an integrated ejection suite. Likewise, it lacks a conventional cockpit where an organic can actually sit in.
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • AE-HD1 Specter-class Hyperdrive
  • Ion Scramblers
  • Controlled by a NeuroDigital Matrix. This contains the consciousness of an organic being, allowing for greater levels of ingenuity and adaptability.
  • Anti-Ion Emission Tracers
  • Programmable Paint
  • Shroud
  • Inbuilt Tactician Battle Computer. Allows a squadron to share tactical data, improving their coordination and accuracy.
  • Wiress link to a central hub. This computer does not relay commands and thus sabotaging it will not cause the droid bomber to shut down. Instead it acts as the host for a cloud server. The consciousness stored in the NeuroDigital Matrix can be uploaded to it in the event of the fighter's destruction. This can allow the machine intelligence to survive, be uploaded in a new matrix and learn from mistakes.
STRENGTHS
  • Durability: With reinforced armor and powerful shielding protecting it, the bomber is difficult to destroy.
  • Boom, boom. The Ironbreaker is made for bombing installations, stations, enemy capital ships and other hard targets. It carries an impressive array of warheads and explosive payloads to devastate its targets.
  • Controlled by a NeuroDigital Matrix, which is a digitalised brain containing all of an organic being's mind and consciousness. It is highly adaptable and able to learn. It features a wiress link to a central hub. This computer does not relay commands and thus sabotaging it will not cause the droid bomber to shut down. Instead it acts as the host for a server the droid's consciousness can be uploaded to in the event of destruction. This can allow the machine intelligence controlling the fighter to return and learn from mistakes.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low squadron count.
  • As is typical for most bombers, it lacks agility. This is a tradeoff for the heavy armour and weapons loadout. It can dish out, but is more susceptible to dogfights and thus best accompanied by faster and more manoeuvrable escorts.
  • The consciousness uploading to the central hub requires the bomber to have a functioning wireless connection. If it the starfighter is jammed, the machine intelligence will not get a second lease of life. Serious EMP damage can also disrupt the connection or, if the transfer is still successful, cause data lass corruption, memory loss etc.
DESCRIPTION

Enyo disapproves of the name Ironbreaker Assault Bomber. She complains that nobody uses iron anymore so it's inaccurate. Sadly, her posse likes it. Regardless, the bomber has not been designed for speed or agility, but can carry an impressive amount of powerful ordnance to devastate targets. In addition to being loaded with classical proton bombs, its bomb bay is capable of holding a variety of different types of ammunition, including mag-pulse bombs, proton rockets, seismic charges, concussion missiles, proton torpedoes, space mines, a large number of thermal detonators. Different types of ordnance can be freely combined or only one type can be loaded.

The explosive payload typical for bombs can also be swapped with the gasuous variant of Hurtlothombric Compound, a powerful substance that produces a state of fear in organic beings that are successfully exposed to it by affecting their brain chemistry. The gas is only situationally useful against a prepared foe, since armies equipped to galactic standard will have sealed armour with modern air filtration systems. However, it can be used to sow confusion and fear among unprepared foes. Moreover, it is an ideal terror weapon against civilian population centres, and can thus indirectly hamper the effective deployment of enemy troops.

Furthermore, the bomber is armed with two laser cannons and a dual light ion cannon turret as secondary weapons. A pair of variable warhead launchers that can fire a variety of explosive ordnance further augment its arsenal. A light blaster cannon turret helps the craft target pursuers. Moreover, the craft is well-armoured, featuring powerful shields and armour plating.

Like the Revenant Class Starfighter, the Ironbreaker is controlled by an organic, whose consciousness has been uploaded into a NeuroDigital Matrix. The transfer process is clean and painless, and liberates the recipient from their organic flaws and needs by digitalising their mind. In effect, their consciousness becomes data. At the same time they retain all their previous knowledge and can learn from experience. Meanwhile, their organic bodies can be stored or repurposed since they do not need them. To all intents and purposes, the bomber is their body unless the matrix is removed from it.

This allows the Ironbreaker to combine the ingenuity and flexibility of an organic with the tirelessness, predictive abilities and discipline of a machine. For obvious reasons, Archangel prefers utilising the minds of organics with prior experience as combat pilots. But because the matrix is essentially a digitalised brain, flash memory training can be used to teach a user new skills. Archangel takes thing a step further by giving the fighter a wiress link to a central hub comparable to the one used by the ancient Trade Federation to control its droids.

This computer does not relay commands and thus sabotaging it will not cause the droid bomber to shut down. Instead it acts as the host for a server the droid's consciousness can be uploaded to in the event of the starfighter's destruction. This can allow the machine intelligence controlling the fighter to return and learn from mistakes. Skilled pilots are valuable resources, and Enyo hates wasting those. However, the transfer process can be sabotaged by jamming the connection or severely damaging the fighter through EMP.
