- Good stealth capabilities when kitted with an optical/thermal camo cloak and acoustic-dampening footwear.
- A high level of modularity grants each operative a wide array of options and combinations.
- Shoulders, knees, shins, and forearms are all customisable.
- The colour scheme and helmet design vary from squad member to squad member.
- Hermetically sealed helmet and undersuit, allowing for usage in hostile environments.
- Incredible customisation options.
- Provides excellent protection when fully kitted with phrik plating.
- Stealth potential if kitted appropriately:
- Tactical cloak offers limited personal optical and thermal camouflage, effectively rendering the wearer invisible even to scanners.
- Acoustic-dampening footwear masks the wearer's footsteps.
- Cumbersome to move in when kitted with lots of armour plating, severely reducing stealth capabilities.
- Tactical cloak has several limitations:
- Camouflage can be disabled with the use of EMP/ION.
- Camouflage only grants effective invisibility when immobile or when observed from afar.
- Limited power supply discourages extended use.
The decision to leave the Antarian Rangers was not an easy one. The men of the 88th had served with distinction throughout the Bryn War and its aftermath under the banner of Jaeger. But as the war came to a close, as well as Concord itself, the battalion found itself without purpose. Witnessing the dismantling of many respected battalions, Colonel Heavenshield saw the writing on the wall and resigned from the organisation he'd given his youth and innocence. Together with a handful of his closest comrades, each an elite soldier in their own right, Thirdas formed Ironside's Irregulars with the intent to continue the fight wherever they were needed.
There would be no uniforms or matching squad insignias. Each member was encouraged to put together their own kit using existing Ranger equipment and armaments they "happened upon" on their way out. The colour scheme, loadout, and insignias were all unique to one another, making every member stand out according to their personality and preferences.
The undersuit is hermetically sealed and acts as a base upon which the actual armour is worn, alleviating any chafing or discomfort. The basic layer of armour provides only average resistance to various types of damage, with options for adding additional plates for increased resistance. Shoulders, knees, shins, and forearms can all be reinforced with phrik plating to the wearer's liking. Each helmet is unique to each squad member and is hermetically sealed with its own oxygen supply and air filter. The visor includes a HUD with a built-in zoom feature, various scanners, and comms.
The tactical cloak is made from baffleweave to avoid detection from long-range scanners, however focused or close-range scans will still detect the wearer. It uses small photosensitive crystals that reflect and warp ambient light and colour around them, effectively rendering the wearer invisible. This requires the wearer to remain in place as moving around will disrupt the crystals as they're forced to change colour, creating a blurring effect while they adjust to their new surroundings that would be easy to detect. While heavier than regular cloth, strong winds could also reveal the wearer.
