Courtship
: Uchikake the art of Atrisian courtship is considered one of the finest arts. From flowers to the meeting. It can take place at a formal party or even on a street passing by each other. The art is considerable as approaching a man or a woman requires skill in th art of poetry, painting, flower arraignment. A skill that can get one able to visit audience chambers where much the art of Miyabi is used as females are secluded behind Byo screens. This generally eliminates looks from the act of courtship as personality and common interests come to the forefront and skills are on display. Warriors are able to show their martial prowess as actions between soldiers with shorter life expectancy might not be able to handle the months or even years of preparation that goes into it. Once the marriage is proposed then a state of union is considered and both families plan the wedding and merging of the houses with the construction of a new home as a gift.

Arranged Marriage: Shirokakeshita the art of arraigned marriages come in two flavors the kind for one to increase their social status and the other as a means for saving the honor i the case of non married pregnancy. These are arraigned by the families of the individual who take their children to a matchmaker that then finds them either one of status whom they can marry into or find them a wive if they are unable to get one in the courtship scenario. Matchmakers are highly regarded and respected in towns and villages with guilds in the cities that work with the populations.
  • Status Advancement: Going through a matchmaker families from across the planet can get their children together to advance in Imperial court status, males or females are equal game in many ways and it falls to them to impress their potential spouse with their skills and refinement.
  • Honor: Often used in the conventional sense, honor marriages are for trysts where the family strongly objects to children being born out of wedlock. The children are often not able to inherit except in extreme circumstances.
  • Political: Common in more ancient times, marriages for political purposes were arranged by the emperors and empresses to bind houses to them and give them a common cause.

Marriage for Love: Shiromuku is one of the more common nowadays, love is important and something to be cherished. It is able to happen and often does as while an arraigned marriage can be beneficial if they happen to like each other it is much much easier to have the two of them together. These are also usually the results of meeting, courtship and eventual agreements and trust between the parties involved. Families can be merged to create a stronger union.

Non-Conventional: Hikifurisode is one of the most broad types of marriages but mostly because of how much it counts among it. There is generally aspects of love, courtship, arraignment and in some cases circumstances that many are not certain of.
  • Same Sex: Neither looked down upon nor unheard of. unions between lords or between two ladies of the Imperial court are welcomed in most cases. An heir though is generally required to inherit the legacy of the two though either by blood or by adoption.
  • Eloping: Rarely seen but it does happen, without the ceremony and without family approval.. It is one of the hardest onthe parties involved as families are able to cut them off and dishonor is brought to them. The children of such unions are considered wanderers and can regain thier parents honor through their actions.
  • Interspecies: With the introduction of the galactic scene and near human species that are close to Atrisian there is in many ways chances for some cross breeding. Marriage between Atrisian and near human species is allowed as sometimes the results are greaat such as bringing in new and rich cultural aspects but it can also be for love. Refugee species that have come to Atrisia and groups who came seeking shelter from wars have been adopted and brought their influence to the world as well as joined the society. The only real rule of it is heirs andchildren as essential as with most purposes of marriage on Atrisia and its colonies.
  • Honor Wives: Concubines who have become pregnant and are accepted into the family. They are rare but in the event heirs cannot be born or have been killed often are allowed.
  • Battlefield: Usually reserved for soldiers and the fastest... as it is unknown what could happen but a commander can oversee the union or the captain of a ship can preform the ceremony. Usually with if they are able to three days leave afterwards to celebrate and the pairing being allowed reassignment to be together on the battlefield should they wish for it.
  • Union: A more modern take on marriage done among teenagers... they buy rings for each other but do not live together, often there can be children and one side raises the child while the other just barely is involved. Often scoffed at by the more traditional of Atrisia because it doesn't involve much and the parental rights of those involved become murky since there is nothing official.
The Wedding: Kakeshita is the wedding itself which takes place over the course of seven days... with the families gathering together in a neutral location overseen by an honor guard that has been created by both families. This will see retainers, servants, guards and handmaidens divided and brought into their new household. Celebrations with wines, exotic foods, feasts, dancing are nightly and last into the early morning. Rehersals and parades for the pair are given as depending upon their status any number of visitors can come and attend. When the big day finally arrives the bride/groom is given a silk kimono that signifies her being willing to create a new clan and family. The groom/bride wears a similar style kimono as the ceremony sees them walk along a path dedicated to their ancestors and they are given blessings from elders and family on all sides. Each station of the ceremony defining and coming to create what will be their colors and sigil for their house. Once they reach the final station they are married by a high priest who solidifies their union together so that it might never be torn asunder. After it they are given seven days of a honeymoon before returning to their new home which has been constructed in a joint effort by both of their families generally in a neutral spot that favors neither family.

The Children: The most important aspect of Atrisian society, creating a dynasty... a legacy through bloodlines that are strong. The ultimate goal of all marriages within Atrisian society is this... children, heirs and as many as can be supported. As long as a child is produced and cared for, given a chance to improve the families honor then they are all welcome regardless of how they come about.

Did you mean for this to be 'arraigned' and not 'arranged'? Totally fine either way, just wanted to check since the words mean very different things.
