- Improving upon Aurora Industries' previous heavy starfighter, the IS-12h Wyvern is equipped with a plethora of the company's newest weaponry for absurd amounts of firepower. While test pilots appreciated the latest generation of laser cannons and turbolasers, along with expanded ordnance capabilities, they were ecstatic about the cockpit mounted Ixion Mass Driver and the sound it unleashed on ground-based targets.
- As a second improvement upon the older Aeronite starfighter, the Wyvern has been designed around the Golem-type Advanced Plating and the Kirin Shielding System, along with several defensive countermeasures against enemy ordnance, for impressive survivability and durability in battle.
- Due to the increased power efficiency and thrust from the Phoenix Ion Engine, the ship is able to maintain the same speeds as the IS-12 Pyrolisk and its predecessor the Aeronite, even though the Wyvern is only equipped with two oversized engines.
- Each Wyvern fighter is equipped with a Syldra Communications Suite, allowing it to be connected into a telepathic network for nigh undetectable and jammable transmissions or standard communications and encryption systems for compatibility with other communications technology.
- While the ship is equipped with immense firepower and extensive defenses, the additional armor and weapon systems, along with their support systems, does reduce the maneuverability of the starfighter compared to its predecessor.
- If the Ramuh-II power core's preservation field capsule fails or the device is sabotaged, the crystal within sublimated immediately into its plasma state, reducing the power output of the device by roughly half until a new crystal capsule is installed. This applies to the fighter's main power generator and the smaller cores that separately power each weapon system.
- If the molecular furnaces within the Phoenix Ion Engines become damaged or are sabotaged, they can cause a chain reaction that will consume the engine and significantly reduce the fighter's speed and maneuverability.
- If a Syldra's internal Seoularian crystal is shattered, it cannot connect to the telepathic network until a new crystal is installed and attuned to the key and anchor crystals that system needs to be connected to. In addition, telepathic messages sent through the network cannot be received by any other system except another Syldra, potentially limiting the capabilities of this feature.
Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program within its Strahl Subproject, the IS-12h "Wyvern" Heavy Assault Starfighter was designed as the successor of the company's previous heavy starfighter, the Aeronite. Designed along the IS-12 Pyrolisk's airframe, with additional armor plating along with the Golem-type Advanced hull plating to give it a bulkier appearance and the Kirin Shielding System, the new assault fighter was envisioned as something that could carry immense firepower in a durable package to battles to provide a hefty punch and close support.
The weapon loadout of the Wyvern was enhanced with the company's latest weaponry, making use of four Valefor Laser Cannons and replaced the dorsal mounted turret with Ifrit Turbolasers. Four variable ordnance launchers were also installed, each with expanded magazines over the previous launchers from the Aeronite, along with an expanded configurable bomb bay for the storage and deployment of up to six proton bombs or seismic charges. However, the newest addition to the arsenal on the Wyvern was the cockpit mounted Ixion Mass Driver seemed to excite test pilots at Aurora's testing facility at Attahox. Many were appreciative of the weapon designs and the expanded loadouts they could access, but the mass driver was widely praised for both the combined kinetic and energy attacks they could unleash and the sound of the cannon lighting up targets.
Two oversized Phoenix Ion Engines were installed to replace the older Tidal Engines, making sure the craft could maintain the same speeds as its sister fighter even if the additional armor and weaponry reduced its maneuverability. The fighter is also equipped with a Madeen Shiftdrive for a Class I hyperdrive that can be utilized both as a standard hyperdrive and way to acces Otherspace as the case may be. A final upgrade over the previous fighter model was the installation of the Syldra Communications Suite, giving the pilot two highly secure avenues of communications through their standard comm system or an integrated telepathic network that can be synced with their helmet.
